Dang that's fast
You better send those impacts to the torque test channel
They will want an honest shelf retail sample. I'm sure they've already got one or have it on the way
Wouldn't waste an opportunity to shout out philly fixed tho. Jim sent them this week so we could cover them this week as well. Our stores still don't have
@@TorqueTestChannel
Eagerly awaiting your test results.
I'm guessing that your 15 second BCS test the Ultra Torque will be lucky to hit 700 ft/lbs.
I just don't see it meeting Harbor Freights advertised claims of 800 ft/lbs in 10 seconds considering how it compared to the Rigid.
I really hope I'm wrong though and it does put out some impressive numbers.
I'm here because he did
@@WayneWerner Same.
Great tools! I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and I have all of their stuff and I use it all day every day and haven't had a single problem with any of them
He did send them to TTC, they credited him with sending, they tested them HONESTLY and I am now here AND SUBSCRIBED because of Torque Test Channel's referral!!!!
Smart man
Same here.
Thanks for the vid Jim!! Glad to see these Hercules being reviewed and the tear down
That heavier hammer with the lighter anvil makes a huge difference. Saw the results today on TTC. Great job man!
The RIDGID high torque impact wrench is a beast. 💪🏻
True, but that was the discontinued Octane edition.
@@robertjoseph1592 Have 2 one is a back up of that Beast. Looking forward to see TTC test it with the new 18V 8.0 Max Output EXP battery 💪👍🏼
It’s okay . We all make mistakes 😂
Really went in to some details on these one's! Appreciate the comparison and breakdown! 🙂✌❤
Defond is a high quality switch, used in MANY big dollar name brand tools. No issues there... 👌
Your scale zeroing issues are likely related to the cloth covering you are using. Moving the edges around will change the weight supported by the scale. Use something which rests full on the scale to protect it and not affect zeroing.
Great work 👍 very detailer review. I need to get one of these.
That tear down has me wondering if you can just put the big parts (ultra hammer and HT anvil) together and get the super ultra torque plus. Good review and I appreciate the tear down!
For the $20 difference between the two, just buy the bigger one to begin with.. 🤷🏻
Great minds think alike
What's a Level II FX4???
The black coated circuit board is epoxy potted. The upper board is conformal coated. See Humiseal for descriptions of various conformal coatings. Both protect against moisture but the epoxy potted part is protected against more, including vibration and occasionally flame proof for ckt protection devices.
Came here from TTC, Subbed!
That's a 2003 Ford Ranger I'm working on. Thanks for the info, I will check out Humiseal!
Great video sir. And Torque Test Channel sent me here.
5 year warranty is a big deal, and priced really well, especially if you consider the low cost batteries, great video!
Just bought mine today !!🔥🔥
My guess as to why the Ultra-Torque hits harder besides the obvious heavier hammer mechanism is that its motor although similar to its counterpart is "hot rodded" from the factory over the regular impact in a way that uses more power to drive the hammer quicker for a faster/harder overall BPM (blows per minute).
Awesome work 👏👏👏👏👏
They look powerful for the price and good warranty also. Nice look inside!
I look forward to next year's Hercules Mega and Giga Torque models.
Probably 2 or 3 years. That's kind of been Harbor Freight's strategy with their higher quality offerings- much longer lifecycle than the others. I suspect that's how they keep the prices down- by spending less on R&D overall.
Holding out for Super Duper myself.
@@dchawk81 That'll be a 10 year wait sir😁
Hello again Jim
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I agree with you about Time will tell!!!!
That warranty is nice. Now they need an expanded line soon! Would love to see updated 12v stuff
They tell me there are several more Hercules brushless tools coming by the end of the year!
I thought they've announced a bunch of new brushless tools. New Hammer Drill, new Impact driver, new mid-torque/low-torque impact...and maybe some other stuff.
@@BigBear-- I think we have the mid torque already
@@azhule4041 yeah ur right I thought i saw a new one on the list of New for 2022. But its just gonna be a new Compact Recip Saw, Right Angle Drill, Paddle Switch 4.5"/5" grinder, 1/4" Hex Impact, 1/2" Drill/Driver, 1/2" Hammer Drill, the 2 new High/Ultra Torque Impacts, 8 amp Fan Cooled Fast Charger, and a new line of Hercules 20V Extreme Batteries with 21700 cells.
@@PhillyFixed Just announced a bunch more at SEMA this week
Good job. I really appreciate that you say things once and don't ramble. I also like the concept of a breakaway torque test. That's really what I need from a 1.2" high torque - irresistible reverse torque for breaking loose bolts so corroded I can Hamer on a size smaller socket after chiseling away layers of rust. If I need more reverse torque than the high torque 1/2 inch impacts deliver, I'll get a big 1" drive and upgrade my airlines. Thanks!
I, too, know the pain of living in the rust belt!
Thanks for the video!! Ridgid is still the best in power and warranty even after all the years we abused them
Great Video! I came by from the Torque Test Channel recommendation and am and also a subscriber to your channel. Great work! Now, lets see you swap anvils and see what it does!
Hey man local residents to your area as well, subscribed to show love
Thanks
Interesting that both you and The Torque Test Channel mentioned asking Harbor Freight about the 5 year warranty particulars and the "walk in, walk out with a new tool" statement. If you read the new 5 year warranty fine print on the Harbor Freight website, it states that the tool will be sent, at owners expense, to a repair center to be evaluated. Then repaired or replaced depending.
True, but that's language that comes from the existing paid extended warranty terms and they've never actually done it. Den of Tools did a more in depth discussion on it a couple days ago.
Check this out for explanation on warranty
ruclips.net/video/g-3aHWDH7b8/видео.html
Usually when I send one in. Brushes were burnt out or things that made it function were broken. Not worried about it. They have honored their warranty every time.
Have to say, HF has bumped up its quality for these. I’m guessing the difference in the hammers weight are due to length, since the ultra torque looked like it was longer. If these units sell well, there’s substantial room for future models to get upgraded with more powerful motors and heavier, wider, hammers. Competition improves the breed. Well done HF.
They dont need heavier, wider, hammers, and bigger motors... These things have MORE than enough power now... 😳
So from the looks of it my best guess is that the motors are the same but the way power gets to them might be slightly different, then with the mechanicals, having a heavier hammer with a lighter anvil can yield harder hits since the hammer being a larger force is acting on the smaller avil for the ultra torque while the high torque will hit more quickly at the cost of each hit not having as much force do to it being a heavier anvil with a lighter hammer
I think that you are on par with AvE on the breakdown (though you forgot to check for fiberglass reinforcement). The person you want going over the electricals is BigClive.
Fantastic review Jim! Love the setup, the graphics were great, and the tear down was a ton of fun to watch. My only complaint was that you made me enjoy a HF review video. Jerk.
I'm really looking forward to the Hercules brushless D-handle jigsaw release...
@@PhillyFixed Gross.
Here for the teardown after ttc tests.. :)
Just subscribed. Found you through TTC.
Man. AVE hasn't done very many BOLTRs over the past couple years. The BOLTRs he has done, haven't been anything we've been looking for. I guess you gotta become an electrical engineer now, you're our only hope lol.
Ha, actually I am an electrical engineer, but for building/construction projects, so tool teardowns are wayy outside my wheelhouse.
Thanks for the video. I came here from torque test channel but have been subbed for awhile. One comment. I wish these were tested from off the shelf (like we would purchase) and not sent from the retailer. I have a feeling these two specific units may have had extra special attention to quality control issues because they are used for marketing. I will wait for a review when somebody uses their own money to purchase what guys like us will find in the store. Otherwise thank you!!!
That's fair, but for what it's worth, these came in the retail boxes and only about a week before they hit the website for sale. I'm not a big channel so none of the big tool manufacturers have sent me anything, but I've seen the other channels get DeWalt kits with special display cases and marketing materials etc. Rob from Belts and Boxes lent me his promo rear handle Flex circular saw and it didn't even have a serial number printed on the label, it just had a blank white spot where it belonged. HF sent these in regular store boxes and the tools had serial numbers printed on them. So I can't say for sure, but nothing seemed to indicate they were set aside for reviewers 🤷♂️
@@PhillyFixed Thank you for the reply! I think that will definitely help viewers and consumers like myself make a decision. It is important to show the same tools the consumer market will be getting and not a special sample to a select group. Big thumbs up!
The electronics look decent. Definitely cutting costs but they didnt cut too many corners and it should last. I have seen tools without potting and they just dont do well with dust, so its good to see these with potted and coated electronics.
I just bought the 3/4 1750lbs,,amazing impact wrenchs, better than others and also the price 👌🏽💪🏿❤3/4 no jokes no games is real, beat my Milwaukee and Makita
What must the neighbors think?😂. Thanks Jim, appreciate the video💪
Considering how other people test these things, I believe that as long as it can reach its claim _within_ a 5 second window then it is performing to spec and not below it :)
I had a black fx4 almost identical to yours. I to totaled it, best truck ever.
Bought it as a project - 192k miles and needs timing cassettes. But, it's the somewhat hard to find manual transfer case + manual transmission so I went for it. Got a low mileage transmission and transfer case cheap from a salvage yard and I'll pull the engine. (No, I've never pulled an engine 😅). I'll post vids to another channel, "Ranger Gen 3"
The ultra torque looks like an exact clone of the older gen Milwaukee high torque model 2763. Same size, shape, and and casing vents
I thought I was watching AvE . You did a great job. 🤣
To the best of my knowledge, that 6Ah Octane battery also has 21700 cells in them.
Unfortunately not, only the 3aH Octane has them. The forthcoming 8aH Max Output will be the only current production model with them.
That nylon bushing is goin to give the ultra high a more friction free spin
We have all bought Harbor Freight tools we regretted. Also we have Habor Freight tools that we love and would never part with. I am thinking Harbor Freight might have finally figured out Hercules. If their warranty is good I could see myself buying in.
These may be a "best buy" if they are on sale or packaged in some way. Two other evaluation points are how tough the plastic case is when dropped (also battery case) and how well the battery to tool connection holds up under repeated connection and if it is a weak point when tool is dropped .
If you check out Tool Review Zone, Clint abused these things by dropping them and soaking with water. They held up well!
ruclips.net/video/0K8t9AHnObc/видео.html
Challenge Accepted!
Any video that uses a Spaceballs reference automatically gets a like in my book! Anyway, now I'm tempted to buy into yet another battery platform. I've had good luck with the Hercules 12V ratchets. I do wonder if the ultra torque has different "programming" (or whatever you'd call it)? They have to know that people will dissect their claims.
It seems as though the Ultra torque sacrifices some high-end RPMs and BPMs in favor of torque, but maybe I can get someone more knowledgeable to confirm if that even makes sense, haha.
@@PhillyFixed The lower blows per min are a result of using a larger spring and heavier hammer. I doubt the planetary gear tooth count is different between them, but that would represent the RPM difference if so.
Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv^2 explains although ultra torque one has lighter hammer, but delivers more force than high torque one. Because the lighter hammer has much faster speed to do the second hit. V^2 is more important than just "mass" in the formula.
So what you're saying, is the high torque would be a good candidate for an anvil mod lol
That's good
Is AVE still destroying or taking apart tools from the Hazard Fraud? The TTC did a good job testing those impact wrenches. I'd like to see them removing rusted nuts and bolts.
The internals from the high torque look very similar to the dewalt 1/2 brushless internals (anvil, hammer, and nose cover inside)
They were going after the 899 on that one, so it makes sense!
@@PhillyFixed It’s almost like an exact clone… I have to see if I can find my parts one and take it apart and match it up to your video because I have a feeling some parts will swap lol
@@phillytch78 did you watch TTC's vid? Two examples of the same brand/model don't usually match as closely as the DeWalt and Hercules high torque did, it was nuts. The Ultra Torque and Milwaukee matched closely too.
@@PhillyFixed I did it was nuts but that is good I guess it give the people something cheaper to choose from that actually can give you some of the benefits of the more expensive brands.. the electric tool game has really come along way… 10 years ago I swore by air tools and now I barely touch my air tool except for my 3/4 air impact
It sounds just like the Milwaukee high torque I’ve had mine for abt 3 years
Cool, but no thanks. I'll stick with my Ridgids. Great vid.
The very 1st thing I would test before is the current at the battery performing a load test. They must be equal for further tests to be accurate. Or
@ 10:30 if the batteries are equal in a load test, and the motors are the same and the only difference is the planetary and anvil assemblies, one might be quick to assume that the only difference in power is the Anvil and planetary. However, it's that little epoxy dipped electronic control that could be suspect. Performing a load test AT the motor can ascertain needed into. Also, If it's the same motor,
they both draw the same amount of amps. But what is allowing the motor to draw or more appropriately "see" the available ampers it has to it? If there's a difference at the motor than directly at the battery, of course there is, again, It's that little box that you can't get into. Nor identify at a component level where you can obtain it if it were out of warranty. This is a common problem with Chinese toys. You cannot obtain parts for them. For example through Mauser or digi-key.
I'm all about Rigid.,, then Milwaukee. Hey bro, What's that tiny impact driver you were using bro to take those apart?
Good info for future teardowns! I was using a Makita XDT16 to disassemble.
Dad life at its best. 🎉
Wondering if they’re going to come out with a 3/4 and 1inch Version
I don't think a 3/4" and up is mainstream enough to be worth it to HF to do the R&D to put one out.
Would be awesome if they did!
It's interesting that a 200 ft/lb difference is only worth a tenth or two of a second in how fast the nut broke loose.
Thats because at 750 they are not near peak torque yet. The heavier hammer assembly should make more work at higher torqued bolts. Guess we'll see when TTC drops their video!
Kinda leery on these still honestly. They definitely did fine in the test but even the dewalt DCF891 mid torque could take off 800 with a power stack battery and 900 with a 5ah. I have zero hate towards HF i'm glad they are stepping up and putting out more quality tools for their consumers and a killer warranty to match. I'm a full fledge Dewalt guy thats where I'll be staying for now. Great review keep up the good work!
Wonder if they are built in same factory, like most power tools are these days.
@@ThanksForTheLaugh They probably all go out to lunch together in the same cafeteria too and discuss the tools they make
So if is 2 second more than we see in the video, I think if you use a longer socket it would be short the time that they take to lose the nut out, Idk, make a reel just to see that👀👀
Was that the Ridgid R86211 ? So from your tests the Ridgid beats both of the Hercules?
Yup! I recommend checking out Torque Test Channel's spreadsheet for detailed data comparison from their testing.
It's not gonna be immediate when a bowl is that tight. The impact mechanism has to do its work
I feel like the Ultra is maybe a artifact of an over zealous marketing department, that wanted a really exaggerated badging. One of these two will be discontinued soon, who is gonna buy the high when the Ultra is not much more? Ideally they just rename the Ultra to High, for their credibility. Interesting results, wonder if it's like DeWalt where it's really picky how you hold it/angle it.
You shouldn't be using your scale with a rag drooping over the edges, it will throw your numbers off a little. From a 25 year scale technician.
Toss the flux core, and you will weld 100% better. Flux core is fine it just takes some practice, solid wire is more like a hot melt glue gun for steel.
For the once/year I weld, and not on anything that is structurally critical, the gas bottles etc just aren't worth it.
Is it me or does the timer that's running seems to be slower than it should
Ugh, I think you're right. Timer was set up for 30fps video, this is 60fps. But the comparison is still accurate, just double the times!
Interesting that the Hercules took off the bolt faster in auto mode than in speed 3 (at least by my timing). It was actually about as fast as the Ridgid in speed 3.
@@tnoh I didn't torque it down to 750 to demonstrste auto mode - sorry should have clarified that!

Ehh caulking will fix it🤣

I know they make I beams, but h beams are new to me.
An I beam has tapered flanges, while an H beam's flanges have uniform thickness. There are some other dimensional differences but that's the easiest to spot. Also H beams are rotated 90 degrees... 😅
7:53 LOL if you keep showing off an HD housebrand HF will stop sending you free tools. HF advertised this beats Milwaukee yet it barely beats a Rigid LOL hey man can you do a comparison between these against their Earthquake XT 20V cordless? I'm curious to see how well it hold it up. Earthquake is mad heavy is my only dislike but I love them. They keep bruising my wrist anytime using so wonder how they they hold up against one another.
You should glue a level to the top of your power tools to break that habit you have of misaligning your tools to the work 😉
Heyy wait a minute, I know I drill crooked holes but I think I was pretty straight on with the impacts here!
If you tilt your head sideways, you can see that an H beam is actually an I beam.
Nope. I-beams have tapered flanges, H-beam flanges are uniform thickness.
@@PhillyFixed I was just making a joke, but thanks for the clarification.

Pretty much! We'll see what TTC's results say....
