THAT'S where my Powerstack went! If you DARE put that thing on a D-handle and sully it with terrible ergonomics, we're gonna have a problem bud.
Mwahahahaha 💥
Too late I already did twice
Probably the first thing done...😂
@@PhillyFixed D handle for the win!
The powerstack is clearly at a disadvantage because its battery indicator lights are brighter and stay on longer, and I mean on a 1.7ah battery that's somethin :p
The power stack is equivalent to a 5ah battery this guy in this video is an idiot using the wrong drill for applications
@@StevenNeidlein Did you just take battery testing personally? Get a grip.
@@Tool_Addicted_Carpenter People take battery testing personally all the time, it's sad really.
The 15 ah flexvolt is the only battery I use on my atomic tools when I'm working overhead or in tight spots. Love the huge size and weight

Has anyone on here bought the Dewalt. DCB615. 15Ah 60-volt battery? I just got mine in and it took 4 hours to charge the first time before use. IS THAT NORMAL? I got 45-60 minutes run time. That doesn’t sound right for 15Ah/60-volt.

Well, it’s settled. I’ll be carrying that 15Ah in my back pocket every where I go. Thanks for the shoutout and the comparison. 🙂✌️❤️

No problem, just 3D print a mount for that and you’ll be fine. I’m sure there will be tremendous demand, so be ready to put it on eBay and start making a ton of them. 😁

I've been enjoying the frequent collaborations between the tool enthusiast channels as of late, a la breadtubers and maker channels, but it is my sincere hope that VCG continues to not be included. I'm sure others are on the same page as me there.
The 840 with the PowerStack is so so well balanced. Feels like a 12V tool in the hand 👌 But it gets downnn!
So nice of Sarah How dare you Rob lmfao 🤣 😂 @Belts and Boxes
That power stack was surprisingly weak.
Selling ploy
I’ve always preferred the 4ah batteries for the size/power ratio
20volts is 20 volts the AH is just how much charge it’ll hold
@@itryhard4reason276 sorry, means size/weight to run time ratio.
Dcf840 and dcf850 vs 15ah battery and 1.7ah power stack this will be epic awesome of TTC to send ya a 15ah Battery to play with @Philly Fixed
Great job man, I like the split screen and the timer recap on the bottom of the screen. I don't have to try and remember. Anyway, so far it appears to me that Powerstack is just a hype. Well see what further testing reveals I guess!
Well, for the size it's a beast. Think about it, a 1.7aH battery drove a 1/2" lag without timing out or overheating. Others have found it to be comparable to the 5aH with 18650's. But, $119 is still too much for 1.7aH. New adopter tax!
@@PhillyFixed 119 is high but if you got atomic powestack combo with drill dcf840 impact 2 powerstack batterys and a charger for 200 plus tax there not bad

Ciao, se ho tradotto correttamente la tua domanda, sì, puoi utilizzare batterie Flexvolt da 54 V su strumenti Dewalt da 18 V, incluso il 796.
For power/weight ratio, the pouch batteries have an advantage. But for a “compact” battery with a balance of power and runtime, you can’t beat a 1P 21700 pack.

Hey George, sorry to hear you caught it, hope you're feeling better. Merry Christmas and God bless!
That is one big battery for a impact driver
Amazing 🤩 video
The 840 is King!!
You're definitely not a highschool math graduate if you don't understand that where the 15Ah battery excels is how many of those 1/2"x10" lag bolts can be driven on a single charge compared to your other examples. 15Ah batteries are marketed for an actual construction worksite advantage of needing less spare batteries, extension cords, generator outlets and chargers for each driver when you're packing the trailer in the morning and staying on task instead of the laborer finding a valid excuse to leave the task to get another battery and cup of coffee and Dunkin donut.
Here is what I want to see. A 15ah flex volt × 4 with an dewalt 1800watt battery station inverter running a refrigerator. Wat to see how long it works for. Also with a TV and what ever someone has for cable tv or dish or directTV. Curious to what i can really do.
I didn't realize how huge that 15ah is until I see it on an impact driver lol
Now we need the 12ah vs the 15ah. Curious what offers more power. (Not runtime) do the impact for fun but would like to see on flexvolt grinder or circ saw
@@sacredcowtipper1378 i have 1 now myself its hard to say cuz it depends wat tool your using it on and if your talking 45-60 minutes continuous load and how heavy the load is. A grinde4 depends how hard you push. Best way to know is use a flashlight or something and then jus time it and compare. Also charging depends on wat charger you got
@@bossmanz28 i am using a 20” chainsaw and was cutting up a maple tree. The charger that came with the kit is the dcb115. Do they make a better one? Awful small looking charger for such a huge battery. My greenworks 80-volt charger is about twice as big as the dewalt and will charge my 80-volt battery in one hour and give me almost an hour of nonstop push mowing and it is only a 4 amp battery. My 56volt 12 ampEGO charges in one hour also. Unless the chainsaw just uses that much juice. I have no flashlight to test with as my carpentry stuff is all milwaukee M12 and M 18. I bought the dewalt line of outdoor tools as it seemed better than stihl and echo.
@@sacredcowtipper1378 ive heard the 20" chainsaw really eats batteries even the 15ah via workshop addict. Thats how i got mine but i havent pushed the chainsaw like crazy yet. And yes there are a few better chargers. Yellow chargers are the fastest. The more common yellow charger charges the 15ah in think 2 hours but i could be mistaken and then there is an even faster 1 but im not sure how much faster that is. 1 is rated as an 8amp charge output rate while the other is a 12amp charge output rate. The 8amp one charges a 6ah in 1 hour but a 12ah in an 1 hr and 40. Not sure how it works but those are the specs. The outdoor power tools all come with normal chargers cuz compared to construction tools dewalt does give you a better value on the battery purchase so they give you a crappier charger. The main reason i got the 20" chainsaw was jus for the 15ah. Got a discount deal and got it for 475 with the 15ah while the bare tool of the saw and the charger are lile 380 to 400 each
Edit theres also a 4 port yellow rapid charger all at the same time that is the 8 amp output. Thats what i have. And its the only yellow charger that will also charge 12v if thay matters to you. All black chargers do 12 and 20v tho
@@bossmanz28 thanks. I am no longer in construction but have a bunch of Milwaukee M18 for that around the farm and my old dewalt nicad and nimh cordless. Yeah, i got the saw kit for that reason too to get the 15Ah battery as to buy the chainsaw and battery separate was around $800. Got it for $470 delivered tax and all through ACME. I bought 6 tools from acme but four boxes looked like they were opened and resealed and they were pretending these were brand new. I think that is illegal to not let the customer know you are getting open box. Anyhow i took pictures and contacted them already. I could have bought those four tools open box for much less on ebay. The chainsaw kit and edger attachment came in sealed boxes untampered. But the 600cfm blower, 15’ pole saw, pole saw attachment and brush cutter were not sealed right so I know they are open box. Most wouldnt complain but I sale surplus laser toners and fusers and if it is open box you get less than half of the retail price and if the boxes are damaged or have writing on them you might only get $100 for a brand new $400 laser cartridge. Very disappointed with Acme. I feel that was deceptive. Lets see if they make it right. Do you have the dcb118 or dcb1112 charger? 4 hour charging time is okay probably for me being i am not using it for business use and i do have the string trimmer kit coming in tomorrow from tool up so will have a 9Ah battery and another junky charger added to my outdoor equipment.
Dcf 840 took on that 1/2” 12” quite well. And even snapped the adapter
No, he damaged the adapter earlier in the vid to break loose a stuck socket. Then used a hammer the second time when it got stuck.
@@pflaffik They weren't even the same adapter. The one was blue, the one that snapped was not.
I would say the cutouts were because the tool was getting hot.
You would think so, however the 850 didn't cut out on the Powerstack or the 4ah, and I filmed this over 3 separate days so it had plenty of time to cool...
that 15ah battery is commically large when on that impact driver
It’s all coming down to pricing and availability. You still need traditional battery cells to compete
18650s were expected in the 15ah, because 5ah is 2 rows of 5 such cells, then you need 3 of those in paralell to get to 15ah, and the same 3 groups in series to get 60 volts. No disassembly required, myself and mr Spock will deduce it instantly to an accuracy of 99.9999872%.
😅 Perfectly logical, captian!
Excellent video Jim. The tiny stack cells are very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting results, thanks for the video!

@@PhillyFixed Looks like those are out of stock in my area and says delivery unavailable DCK275C2
@@Pete391 Geez, they're still pretty easy to come by in my area. Might have to buy bare tool from someone like Tool Nut if you want this model I guess.
@@PhillyFixed They have a few tool only on ebay..like only 5 or 6 of them.....I think i will just go with the home depot deal before they gone of the dcf850 with 5ah battery charger and bag and also another free 5ah battery for $199
Why is barrel grip garbage? I feel singled out. 🙁
How much heavier is that 15h?
The 15ah weighs 4-1/2 lbs, the Powerstack weighs around 11 ounces. Huge difference!
If you're driving those lag bolts you probably should really use a 1/2 inch impact
Yup. And not a 15ah battery 😅
Wow the dcf840 beat the flex with a 15ah vs the flex with a 8am I have also been impressed with both my dcf840 and dcf850 they have there places for specific jobs
A bateria é maior que a ferramenta.
É prego furando o martelo
21700 cells should be used in all tool batteries. They're superior in most ways beside size
And price.
Jesus christ that flexvolt is ridiculously huge.. I've seen them before but for some reason it looks so much bigger in this video.. 😂
18650 for life! They work, they're dependable, and lighter weight than 21700. Mic drop.
not true
@@shanepipkin4041 enlighten us
@@shanepipkin4041 Gotta agree with Dave here, nothing he said was incorrect. I have old Makita 18650 packs that are old enough to pre-date the fuel gauge, they are still working great. That being said, 21700's have their place 👍
That 840 is a monster!
Just a thought... Whenever I watch these comparison videos there always seems to be the issue of not being able to know when the lag screw is fully seated because of the socket blocking the view. Maybe a big fender washer would help in these tests. You could see the washer seat and then you would know the test is done. 🤔
Hmm, that's not a bad idea! The only trick would be keeping the socket from bottoming out on the workpiece, otherwise it would be hard to tell if it was the socket pressing down on the washer or the fastener. I'll mess around with it a bit!
Why would you want that big ass battery ?
Thats a huge bitc_...... battery !
That is just not very practical, that thing is so heavy with that car size battery hooked to it, it is way easier to just exchange for a fresh charged battery. They are getting ridiculous with these oversized batteries that make the tool to heavy to use.
Well the 15aH wasn't intended for this application, this was just for fun. It's really for outdoor power equipment and large 60V stuff.
I always voltage makes/dictates the power with amperage just increasing run time?
The amp-hours rating is a measure of overall battery capacity and runtime. However, larger capacity batteries tend to have 2 or 3 rows of cells in parallel, and that increases the pack's maximum current output. So indirectly, larger Ah batteries tend to have higher output. In this vid, though, all of the extra 18650 cells still couldn't surpass a single row of 21700 cells in the 4ah pack. Voltage can make a difference, but in practice I've not seen where 24V tools (Flex, Kobalt) have much of an advantage over 18V/20VMax tools just by virtue of the voltage.
Jim, watchin all the tool reviews you do from the past to now!! Well done 👏. Looking great! --Glad I found you ❤️
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
This test is not relevant because the force we used to push the tool on every test will never have the equal force, it's a fact but I guess we get an idea.
You should study up on how impact drivers work.
Awesome vid.Placed an order on a 15ah battery until i can get my hands on that sweet dewalt ratchet.
Excellent work as always. Loved the intro... and that thing looks ridiculous with the 15ah on there.

Dare I say it? Been caught…..Red Handed?
(Yeah….I said it.)
Finally a comparison between the 4ah slim and the powerstack. Every other advertisement / paid review basically tried so hard to avoid the 4ah and only put it up against the 2ah. Granted, this is still early tech and I hope to see it improve further
To be fair, WorkshopAddict managed to post one with the 4aH before I could finish mine!

Good luck getting a 15amp hour battery. These things are supposedly back ordered 3-5 weeks and that’s “subject to change.” I’m personally not interested in letting some company I don’t know hang on to 380 bucks for an undetermined amount of time.
The 15ah on the atomic😂
The 840 is a better tool than the 850. You can get the 840 with 2 batteries and a bag right now for $120 at Lowes. The new 845 is $60 more for a bare tool and about as good as the 850.
Hello, Does the power stack last as long as the 18V and 5Ah one?thank you
The Powerstack is 1.7aH so it won't last as long as a 5aH. Not sure what you mean by 18v -- outside the United States, DeWalt's tools and batteries are labeled "18V" rather than "20V Max" but they are the same. Is that what you mean?
So glad I held out...I'll be using the 4ah batteries...no sense getting something new that doesn't perform better.
I like the DCF840
Very good Bang for Buck... Impact drill..

Congratulations on the explanatory video! I see the size of this flexvolt battery, I think it would be much better if it had a strap to accommodate it. And for the connection with the tool, an electrical cable with the adapter attached to the tool would be used to greatly minimize fatigue.
I mean I wouldn't actually use the 15aH on an impact driver in daily use, it was more just for fun -- definitely necessary on their 20" chainsaw and bigger stuff like that though.

I would love to see someone use the 15ah at work on that 850. Would be classic. Regardless of being slightly behind I prefer the powerstack. They are super light small and don't really loose any power. I use on my 998 all the time over the 8ah
