Today we leave Hue and head along the magical Hai Van Pass towards Danang. This gorgeous costal route was made famous thanks to the Top Gear Vietnam special, and as you can see there are views and feels for days.
But let's also check out the abandoned water park, and tombs of Hue, then tackle the Hai Van Pass, before eventually finding an epic sunset spot on a secret beach in Danang.
This series was filmed in July 2022 ✌️🇻🇳✌️

What is that beach name? I’m going to be there next month
What I love about you Paddy is your are so humble and unpretentious even with your success on RUclips. Build a waterpark on a mas burial site. What were they thinking. Look who won, "The Ghosts" You should have spent the night. That would be a scary video! Like always epic drone shots. You never disappoint! Always look forward to your videos. Have a great day mate!
Cheers Thomas!
Yeah, I was just thinking as the video ended that one of the things i love about Paddy, besides his awesome videos, is his unpretentiosness!! Hes so real and authentic and its absolutely charming!!
Thanks for mentioning the TopGear episode, Paddy :) that was exactly the episode that inspired me to do the Hai Van Pass!! In fact, I did the whole mountain pass in a simple bicycle!! Had so much fun filming the whole bike ride!! Bet you enjoyed as much on your motorbike too.
Wow such a beautiful country. Never realized veitnam was like that . I will try visit over xmas. Love your video's Paddy.
Xmas and New Year are the best times to visit VN . Cool weather , not humid . joyful vibes everywhere . Try to do what Paddy is currently doing
@@hungcuongnguyen293 thank you
Amazing! Brings back memories of 2016 when me and my girlfriend biked over here. Agreed it was too short but the views were incredible!
Paddy have to say, I have been to Vietnam 25 times and lived there for 2 years! But your videos make me want to go back and do all the places I've visited again 😄 Keep it up lad! Always love my tour videos in a blighty accent...
My first comment as a channel member. The kid has been up north (Seattle) at her mom's for the past month so I've been cracking open multiple beers each evening and watching your Thailand videos (I started at the very start and am currently through your Pai video). Every night I have the same conversation in my head,
"This guy's production skills are brilliant. Inspiring. You need to become a member. He deserves it."
"Nah, that's the beer talking. Don't do anything rash."
Well, here I am weeks later, stone cold sober, and I have clear-headedly (is this a word?) decided to join.
I really appreciate all of your content. Looking forward to your exploration of Danang. Love that city. My favorite in Vietnam.
hahah cheers Scott! welcome to the early access crew! 👍
We are very thankful to you as well Paddy. You bring us your humor and a view into a world we may otherwise never see, and you do it with spectacular production value! The graffiti is so funny. I could be in the Bronx or any street in Chicago or L.A. and see it! Beautiful views and a spectacular beach. My Saigon friend left just before you got there!
Wow, thank you
I just wanted to give you a huge thank you for sharing your trip with us. I've travelled the length of Vietnam for months a couple of times and watched numerous RUclips videos. Your videos are far and away the best I've seen and bring back some wonderful memories as well as showing a few places I'm yet to visit. I'm really looking forward to the next vids in your tour
Hiya Paddy, I love watching your adventures and travels. I love your sense of humor. You always make me smile. Your videos are always uplifting. Shame about the water park. It looked like it would have been a great place. Perfect tunes. The traffic did look hectic.
Insane views, so beautiful. You cracked me up when you broke out in song. Abba. 😁😆The beach looked spectacular. Good vibes. Another great video. Beautiful drone footage. Well deserved beer and dance.🍺 🕺The perfect end to your day. And video. Love your videos, Paddy. Thank you. 🙌
Thanks Nicky✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Da Nang was a joy for me absolutely loved it. Da Nang and Hoi An, wonderful memories for me. Makes me so nostalgic. Cheers Paddy mate
Awesome video once again - glad you survived the highway!!
Thank you so much Paddy , another great video. cant get enough
Loving following along, great dinner time ritual for us here in Thailand, keep up the great work mate,
Paddy another good episode. Interesting and entertaining. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you too Paddy, really enjoying your vids, calm commentary, useful info.
The view from Hai Van pass looking down at Da Nang is so beautiful! Thank you Paddy.
Really loving this series bro. I always get excited when a new one drops. Thanks for the awesome content
Cheers for a great video again Paddy,,,
You have the power to make my days happier. Thanks a lot!!!
You're by far one of the best travel youtubers out there. Amazing editing, great energy, awesome vibes.... Keep being you, stranger.
Thank you very much for introducing Vietnam to the world. Have fun trip
Some of the views are just breathtakingly beautiful. The thing I really love about the way this series is being filmed is that you really get a feeling that it is you who is driving the motorcycle and seeing all those nice and scenic views for the first time yourselves.
There’s something about you Paddy! You put a smile on my face!
Thanks again for sharing your journey. We appreciate all the work behind the scenes plus editing to produce each episode. I hope you have sometime to enjoy your trip when you are not filming.
I started flying a drone early this year and I always enjoy photography. I know it’s lots of work to produce such an excellent quality channel. ❤️ Thank you!
Proper ‘banger’ that 1 Paddy! Love it dude 😍
We all should thank you for your brilliant videos (with fantastic music) on awesome places that most of us do not have the chance to visit. But best of all is your cheerfulness and absolutely entertaining narratives to bring smiles and happiness in our lives. Keep up the good work. Stay safe and be happy always. Cheers.
Really enjoyed it so much.. thanks Paddy be safe.🇸🇬
Excellent presentation. Da Nang is very cool. So much to see and do there. I had a very nice, and very inexpensive hotel room with a balcony overlooking the beach, and of course I had to take a photo of the sunrise my first morning there, and post "Good morning Vietnam". I totally missed that beach you visited though. Wish I would have known about it-- it is beautiful. Oh well, the high rise hotels overlooking the city beaches are very nice as well.
Been watching your content for a week, just got a new sub from the random thank you. In regards to any ancient buildings/monuments built in a tropical climate; people had to fight extreme heat/humidity to build it. And if anyone ever been to Vietnam the heat is unbearable sometimes you just want to sit inside an AC cafe all day. Kudos to you for driving around on that note as well!
Not all year
Hi Paddy, enjoyed this VLOG, especially the views along the Hai Van Pass. I'm really looking forward to you showing Da Nang and Hoi An as they are two places that I really enjoyed on two visits there in two years......great places. Keep on doing what you're doing but most of all stay safe.😄😊
I rode from Hue to Hoi An over the Hai Van pass a few years ago inspired by Top Gear. Fantastic scenery
Thank you for Traveling My Vietnam! Great music 🎶🎵,btw 👍👍
Another Stunner Paddy. Sooo interesting and those incredible views. You need a tv deal my friend, your vlogs are immense. Thank you so much for sharing them. ❤️
Lovely video! Thanx for sharing :)
Epic as always.
You do an awesome job. Keep up the good work!!
I must say first thank you for bringing us along and second I never knew Vietnam has so many beautiful picturesque places to see. God bless
Thanks paddy another great video 🍺🍺
Looking forward to this one Paddy !!!
I've always had a love for lost civilizations, ruins, really old stuff, etc., so I LOVED that unpopular ruler who had the nerve to tax people to build his own tomb since he knew they wouldn't do it for him. It's a beautiful place, for sure. I never get tired of seeing that dragon...too bad they didn't get to finish it as I think it would have been an AMAZING park (unlike all the faux European ones going up). I prefer that design and the aesthetics of how that dragon was created.
No different to Australian politicians who keep putting their salaries up whilst we haven't had a pay rise for a decade
@@chrispekel5709 True dat. If you look hard enough, there are similarities in every culture. Some just wrap it up and market it better, but in the end, someone somewhere is taking advantage of and getting rich off the poor peeps.
Actually you should definitely check out that guy, his name was Khai Dinh. He was a gay (or a transgender), "weird" crossdresser and a fashionista at his best lol, definitely born in the wrong era, wrong family, and was put in a wrong position (for both himself and the whole nation). Me and my friends always say when mention about him that if Khai Dinh was born in this era he'd be the baddest b!tch ever 😂.
Really enjoying your Vietnam series - you seem to be having so much fun :) It's really nice to see you energized again!
the whole series i am thinking who needs netflix when we have Paddy Doyle😅... you just give us such a happy vibe, it's marvelous watching you travel. what's even better and relatable to me is your way of travel. It's the only way to really get to see stuff and emerge yourself in the country(well at least for me) 🤞good luck to super dreamy and you on your future adventures
How beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us! Always happy to experience your videos!
Da Nang is the most city to live! I love Da Nang, good the weather, beach, food and traffic!
really?🤥
Most city????? An adjective needed, Pal!
He's using translator and whatever is greatest in his language is coming out as most probably haha
Enjoyed the adventure, Paddy! Da Nang is an awesome city. Can’t wait to see more.
Thank you Paddy for sharing your incredible adventure with us! 😃
My pleasure ✌️
Paddy, you're awesome. Just throwing it out there. Keep on rocking!
Oh Paddy.
Excellent video of you from Hue to DaNang.
For me this DaNang moment is VERY emotional, as I celebrated the 2020 New Year in DaNang after returning from wonderful Phu Quoc island. I was SO impressed with what they call the Miami of South East Asia (DaNang) that I decided I will retire there, as I loved it so much - a mid size city right on the South China sea with great fresh air and a clean and uncongested city.
What could possibly go wrong?
COVID came and the Vietnam government reacted to it in a bad way. They decided to kick out most of the foreigners by not renewing their visas. I saw horrible videos of retirees who had lived in DaNang for many years who were forced to evacuate from Vietnam because of COVID as there would be no more long term visas. Truly awful and SO disruptive to so many foreigners and retirees.
So my DREAM to retire in beautiful DaNang was CRUSHED.
Hopefully, one day soon, the Vietnamese government will reintroduce the long term stay visas so that us retirees can return -->> but with caution - because we will never know when will be the next time that the government will force us to evacuate again. It makes it difficult for retirement planning.
Sorry for what happened to you. I hope Vietnam will make it easier for foreign retirees soon.
You can apply for Evisa of 90 days now
@@violetthuynguyen4931 yeah now after the Covid crisis finished. What will the government do to us foreigners during the next crisis? Can they be trusted?
they have learned hard lesson. No longer tight policy at least in next few years so that economics can recover@@mfj2648
You can retire there and when your Visa expires just go to nearest border Laos to renew. Hope this help.
Absolutely fantastic!!
Actually feel like I’m on the road trip
Thanks for the vicarious adventures. Went right past Danang on my way from Hoi an to Hue, so looking forward to seeing the next video.
Its becoming almost a habit to watch one of ur videos before going to bed now. Honestly man, love your content and never stop. ❤❤
Beautiful ❤️ I just got back yesterday from Danang.
Keep up the great vlog !!
Yep, I was entertained. Good stuff.
More
im vietnamese and i watch your series to know more about my own country, thank you for your videos, love it and keep up your work:)
Your videos are brilliant paddy, very entertaining and informative. I'm moving to Danang next month so I'm very excited to see the next video
Good one brother. And glad to see you having a proper 🍺 🤣🤣stay safe and healthy my RUclips friend ❣️🙏🍻
Hi Paddy, being grateful is what life is all about. Thank you for your videos. They're all very inspirational and have convinced my partner and I that it is time we also visited Vietnam which we will do for both our 50th birthdays. You're insightful, funny and humble. Keep up the amazing work.
It looks like you enjoyed yourself on this ride. Good for you. Thanks for taking us along.
My pleasure mate 👍
Fantastic, but obviously super fast little trip. Putting this on the bucket list, for sure!
You should!
Hi Paddy, I love your videos, you're so sympathic and funny. We've been in this area, but didn't go over the pass, it seems to be amazing. Looking forward to the next adventure:))
Incredible view of Da Nang from the Hai Van pass and what a sunset. Loved the start of the video at the Posh Bloke's mausoleum...made me chuckle. Already looking forward to the next video 😉👊
Glad you enjoyed it ✌️
So glad I found you😍 your videos are fab. Looking forward to Da Nang and Hoi An where we’ll be this winter.
Keep on Trucking My friend in my head. Paddy this sets the bar for great content. Safe Traveling and continued wellness. 🍺🛵🇻🇳
Amazing!!! 😍
Love that you went to the Waterpark. We loved that place when we went. I am jealous you had it completely to yourself.
Great episodes Paddy!! be safe ...
paddy one oof the best. thankyou so much.
Awesome video again! Looking forward to seeing Hoiann.
LOVE the video Paddy! You crack us up!! We recently did the Hai Van Pass too, one of the highlights of the trip so far for sure! Beautiful!! ❤
So glad your going to Hoi an....what a place....well done paddy.
Nice one paddy 👍😎👌🤝🙏
Thank you for sharing and inspiring travel to beautiful parts of this world.
Love you to paddy , tnx for amazing series of Vietnam 🙏🙏🙏
Loved it mate, never seen a beach with mountains before.
I hope when you get to HCMC, you meet up with Max McFarlin and do a video with him. Have him show you the best snail/seafood restaurant (got to get the stuff in coconut sauce!), com tam, banh xeo, savory/sweet sticky rice dishes, bot chien, com binh dan (restaurant that showcases lots of home cooked types of meals), bun rieu, bun thit nuong, bo kho, banh cuon, etc.
The Hai Van Pass looks beautiful! Having your own motorbike gives you so much more freedom than going on with a rider. I caught a train this year, but travelling Vietnam by motorbike is definitely on my bucket list!
Thank you Paddy Doyle for sharing your experience of visiting Vietnam from north to south by Motorbike. Thanks to you I discover my country that I left at the age of 18
Fantastic and beautiful episode (as always) of Vietnam, Paddy! Really enjoying this series too! Had a little chuckle towards the end, with your word for swim shorts: "swimming costume"- you might of lived overseas for years - but you still sound so very British (-:
You are the Man! Great videos.
Paddy, the best is your slow-motion walk! 😄You're such a star! Btw lately, we've been binging on your videos from Vietnam. It brings us a lot of memories 😍
I totally burst out laughing after you slo-mo'ed yourself doing a copy of the IG guy after making comments on what he's doing. The music that accompanied it and everything was just perfect!!
I thought this was the best one of the series so far. Some epic drone shots at the end.
Making full use of the Mavic, nice work ....
Such a beautiful sunset.
Saw the Kings tomb, but not the dragon, which is a shame, but thanks for bringing me more memorable moments Paddy. With you all the way mate 🙏🙏
Driving along the coat look so beautiful with the blue water nd the green from trees.
Love the intro you dancing 🕺🏼 on the beach 🏖.. Positive Vibes really enjoying Hue and Da Nang vlogs . Very interesting 🤔 Fantastic Job and great 👍 Job you have . Enjoy your travels and keep safe .
Thanks mate 😌
Done the Hai van pass 8 years ago that brought back great memories if you get a chance hit the bamboo bar near the dragon bridge. Keep up the good work Paddy.
Ohhhh I loved this Paddy! You also experienced as i recounted to you before you started the trip… the dreaded necessity of that highway stretch before the Pass being miserable. BUT it is redeemed by the epic ride & view that follows! I JUST noticed as well… getting close to 100K subscribers! C’mon :) 👏 🙌
Such an excellent video! Hai Van pass looks stunning but too short indeed 😂
You can go east around the big lake from Hue to the pass, passing a lot of cemetery sites along the beach. Takes longer but it avoids the highway and is a lot prettier.
Paddy, you have the best job in the world. The world experiences that we live through your videos are fabulous, perhaps in my next life time I'd love to experience a third of your life.
Living the dream Paddy….living the dream 🤘🏼
Awesome
I ❤️this, my journey begins 9/6 where you started.
Enjoy what you do and do as much as you can, Paddy
Thank you Paddy=Long time watcher & hopefully Join Up Again Soon.(TX)
Oh man !! You miss Tam Giang Lagoon (evening), Bach Ma Moutain, Thien An Hill (near abandon water park), Huong River (flow from thien mu pagoda to Truong Tien Plaza ) and color night. Lovely place for couple !!
Those are some great suggestions...makes you wonder why youtubers all go to the same places when there are so many different ones to see around Hue! Although to Paddy's credit, I hadn't seen the tomb he showed at the beginning of the video and I really love that. I HATE modern, big, shiny cities like HCMC as I prefer nature, ruins/lost civilizations, outdoorsy adventures, etc.
@@doodahgurlie
Tomb : Khai Dinh (on Paddy video), Tu Duc (biggest), Minh Mang
Long Street beside river : Kim Long (Huong River), Song Bo (Bo river)
Vong Canh hill
Tunnel (small water fall) : Suoi Voi, Suoi Nhi Ho, Suoi Thanh Tan (hot-water)
Tam Giang Lagoon : seafood 's so fresh, just jump out off water and jump in boil water right now. The flavor of sea is still. Delicious !!
i love sunset on huong river (feb-april, aug-sep is so ...wow), hire duck-board (near Cau Moi ) and ride mid on river.
Love color of led on ledge of old castle
Hue style is slow and enjoy
Sure, Tam Giang Lagoon & Bach Ma national park is stunning. what a pity to miss these 2 places in Hue.
@@quangvinh1153 I think we all vote Paddy should go back and pick up the places he missed! I want him to ride the Dragon Spine (Ta Xua Nature Reserve) as episode 6 was so epic due to the danger and exhilarating factor of that ride. I also think he needs to do Ninh Binh more justice as there's so much more there to see/do...also re-do Cat Ba by getting out of the city and seeing what else is around.
Love it Paddy! Can't wait to see Da Nang!
Very soon!
