Glad to hear you took my comment in good spirits dave it's a great bit of kit your respiratory mask. Great video as always, and "may the flux be with you" 😂
No need for a heater here down under. 34c later today. I've almost stripped my Mk2 just the rear left quarter and the boot to go...maybe later today. Your not only doing great work but after doing a few uploads of my own project I realise your doing a great job on video and edit skills as well. 👍👍
You must be in a very small club of truly rust free Mk1 Escort shell owners. There can't be many with no rust. I think the striping and epoxy priming with a roller is a great way of priming without mess dust and wasted paint. A rust free MK1 must be better than money in the bank!
I’m gonna miss that amazing design that was on the bonnet 😂 garage looks really comfy with the heating Dave I bet that makes such a massive difference ! nice job mate 👍
Only found your channel about 3 weeks ago searching how to fit bubble arches. and I’ve binge watched the whole escort build. Is there anything you can’t turn your hand to. The exhaust was awesome buddy. Man that ole escort is looking tough 👍🏻 🏴
A step closer Dave, looks nice and toasty with the fires going, now for the dusty bit. I have always referred to it as oker or gobbo lol . The last big tub I bought is Rage ultra which isnt cheap but seems decent to sand. Whatever you use I am sure you will make a smooth job of it . Looking great and coming together well.
Must be your strong US accent that confused them😂 Nice work, good to see the garage is nice and warm for the paint application. 🙂I wish I had room for some heating in mine, I'm now putting jobs off because of the weather.🙁
Can see it all coming together, when it's one colour. Good progress Dave. I checked out that other dave's channel, after you said, and his contents crap, haha. No idea how hes almost on a million subs. Madness. the intuitive welshman and his cars, is a much better watch
For rollers that do not swell and disintegrate use velour rollers for epoxy resin from glass fibre suppliers - they can also be washed in standard thinners and reused.
There is only one Dave's Garage, and it's across the pond in Wales. The big difference between Dave's Garage mine, over a year, mines temperature varies between 68f/20c and 78f/25.5c without having either heat or air conditioning. I hear the garage calling me.
I was Shocked when I saw you painting the car with a roller.I thought it was the topcoat.I said to myself "he's made a beautiful job of restoring the car but now he's painting it with a roller" then I realised it was just the primer.
Hi Leigh, it's mostly easier, no overspray, less particles to breath in. Uses less paint. No messing around with spray equipment. And at this stage finish isn't an issue.
@DavesGarageuk hi Dave thanks for your reply I only ask because I'm at the same stage for my 100e 😁 Will you be spraying hi build over the top ? From what I see online rubbing epoxy down is a nightmare as it clogs everything up.
Panel wipe is fine, it's the go to in garages for preparing surfaces because everyone uses it, but did you realise it isn't the best way to prep steel surfaces ? Apparently, from a technical perspective panel wipe just dilutes what oils or hydrocarbons there are on the surface and spreads them around into what is known as a 'monolayer'. The best method of prepping steel for paint or epoxy is clean it with a slurry of VIM (Comet, Ajax) or other powdered bleach products. Oh boy, all these years using panel wipe and up pops an 11 year old video from a Dr Dan Gelbart from the University of British Columbia called: 'Building Prototypes Dan Gelbart part 6 of 18 Coatings', in he explains the science of achieving the best possible surfaces for adhesion.
Hilarious that they mistakenly sent you a chair 😂 - hope they appreciated the good review you submitted 😋👍
😁
It’s always a warm welcome when watching Dave’s garage
Thanks 😊
Reminds me of painting my £30 Escort stock cars back in the early 90s! Man I miss those days.....
Amazing how car being in one colour can change it so much keep up the great work Dave ❤
Its come so far, great work.

Coming along nicely Dave. Your garage is warmer than my house!🤣👍😎
And mine 🤣

Agree with the noise when da sanding the roof, it's horrendously loud for what it is. Great work as usual. We call filler Bog here in Australia !

Ordered some 😊

Hello to both Dave’s garage
🤣
It's Wales, it's ALWAYS 'Doing that'!
🤣
@DavesGarageuk lived on Anglesey for Ten Years, think it stopped for a Week.!

What do you wipe the car down with. Can you use thinners for that.
Panel wipe
👍👍👍👍👍
Do you have any details on the epoxy primer Dave ?
It's made by HMG, epoxy primer EP2 code PRIEP2. Hope this helps.
@@DavesGarageuk Thank you Dave, much appreciated
Taking shape now mate 👍
What are you using for a 12v supply for the diesel heater Dave?
Thanks, got 12v leisure battery connected up to a small solar panel. Use it for all sorts.
@@DavesGarageuk Good idea on the solar, I will look into that.
Great stuff 👍🏻
Aware it’s sped up but from around 7.09 you can see the paint on the wing drying.
Hi dave
Whats the benefits of using a roller aposed to a spray gun ?
Regards leigh
Speed and no overspray going all over the garage

@@LeighBooth-l7i I'll be roughly sanding the epoxy so the body filler grips to it, then it'll be high build over that for the finishing
No over spray in garage, makes a hell of a mess.
I missed the subtitles Dave. As an german Guy it is Pretty Hard to understand Your Wales accent😌😇 next Video with subtitels please.
I'll check on that, I haven't changed anything my side. Don't you put the subtitles on your side?
