  • In this video I show you how to knit the knotted openwork stitch. This stitch is a simple 4 row repeat perfect for the beginner. This stitch would make nice placemats, hot pad (in cotton yarn), but if you're feeling adventurous this would work up nicely in a lace weight yarn for a tablecloth, table runner or maybe even a nice window cover. let your imagination soar with this stich.

    Looks so beautiful and so easy to do! I can see myself trying a scarf with this..(multicoloured of course, but that's me!) Adding borders at both sides and possibly trying to add tassels through the bottom holes! (although I've never tried making tassels before yet!)

    What a beautiful stitch! I think I might decide to try it out. Thanks for your knit-stitching live video! Knitting new and different types of stitches are GREAT!

    You make purling look so easy.

      It's not hard. It's really just doing a knit stitch with the right needle pointing down through the stitch instead of up, and the yarn pulled to the front.

    "Beginner Friendly" might be pushing it a bit. That "yarn over" thing is challenging. I switched to bamboo needles and that made it much easier. I do love the stitch, very lacy.

      Yarn over is just like starting to do a purl stitch but then knitting it instead with the yarn at the front. And then, after you have knit 2 more in the ordinary way, count back 3 to the yarn over stitch on your right needle and just lift it over the top 2 stitches as if you were casting off a whole project.

    🤔 not sure why my knot stitch looks like the open knot stitch. I rip the stitches out tried it again same results 😐

    grrrr, I keep on messing up. my opening are stack on top of each other instead of stagering. Help.

    This is MUCH MUCH harder than expected! I'm finding it really hard to pick up the 3rd stitch from my right needle, it is so tight and hard to see where to pick it up, grrr.... And bringing yarn to front whilst doing knit stitch is ridiculously confusing.. My yarn ends up looking like it is at the back instead and it muddles my brain, dammit!

      Have you tried increasing the needle size by one or two sizes? The stitches might be loose, piece would lie flat, but the mesh spaces might be more prominent. If you like the look on your yarn, please try this.
      If you do, reply how it goes.

    why not just multiply 3x9 or 3x12 or whatever?

    • @agemoth
      @agemoth 2 года назад

      Any multiple of 3 will do. Maybe she thought some people might not be good at maths.
