I just have to say I love how you go deeper than the surface level facts about diamonds and explain it so well!!! Please keep it coming!

Could you possibly make a short video some time of a list of online retailers that are a safe place to buy from. Maybe add in a couple big box brick and morters also. You do a good job pointing out what to look for in the descriptions but I'm finding it impossible to find a good site to buy from on my own. I'm terrified to spend $1,000 and end up with a bad experience. I bought a 1ct Ametrine in the past and when I received the gem it looked nothing like the pictures and took 2.5 months to arrive. Thanks!

That you for explaining this deeper, I wish I'd found this sooner I just bought a bunch of stones that said all natural n they came polished, I just assumed that's what it meant but I guess not, back to the hunt for some

I just wanted to thank you for making this video! Sadly there are very few videos that discuss this topic. I’ve been making handmade jewelry for just a few years now, and mostly just as gifts for friends & family. I’m self-taught and self-educated, (well, still in the ongoing process of educating myself)! I research everything I can about the many aspects of jewelry making! Learning about all the various tools, equipment and materials, to all the different styles, techniques and skills. I want to start selling my work (on a small scale) but I feel I’m not educated enough yet to do that responsibly. I’m starting to research the business aspects as well now! I recently started using gemstones in my work and quickly found that I have a lot to learn about sourcing/buying gemstones! So far I’ve mostly purchased my gemstones online from places like ETSY and Instagram. I’d really like to learn about how to safely and responsibly purchase gemstones (without a degree in gemology!) As mentioned in your video, there’s so much fraud and/or misinformation out there. Even just knowing the most effective ways to educate one’s self so as to hopefully avoid being scammed as much as possible would be so very valuable to me, and I’m sure, others like me! I know it’s a vast subject but any tips you can provide would be so, so appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Andrea

How do I identify a loose stone where I only know that it was passed down to me from a relative who supposedly purchased said stone on a business trip to South America? It's a very pleasing green with an emerald cut. I know it's not an emerald because it is very clean an clear. With all of the jewelers being non essential, I can't send it in for identifying.

during these times, it will be more difficult to get any real verification. you may have to wait for a jeweler/gemologist to open again. You could also send it to a respected lab(GIA,AGS,etc,) when they open again. If you already know of someone in your area, you could try reaching out. They may have a way to help without their store being open. I know some in my area that would do an appraisal by mail or appointment...but yes, many of your options are temporarily not able to operate as usual.
