I was surprised to learn that aquamarine comes in such large crystals. Fascinating, and I am one who really likes a bit of green in my aquamarines.

I’m a March girl and my mom gave me an aquamarine ring set in yellow gold. Since she is also a March girl, it’s a ring she was given by her own mom. The ring dates back to the 1950’s and I love it’s vintage look. Thank you for this informative video 👍

Aquamarine is my favorite gemstone & I too, prefer a greenish blue hue often referred to a "Seafoam". As the former owner of a small jewelry company, I searched many years until I could find a beautiful greenish blue untreated stone that was heavily included. The first thing my colleagues said was," why are you wearing that awful stone?" It is a larger stone, & is nevertheless, my favorite.

Another March baby here..... I've always had a fascination with aquamarine, being my birth stone, and given the fact that I love the sea. This past Christmas my aunt bought me a beautiful ring - an aquamarine set in diamonds. I love it, I wear it all the time.

Am I the only one who likes the untreated sea-foam colored stones? The problem I have with blue aquamarine is the similarity in color to topaz. I also think the astounding clarity is shown to best advantage when there is a balance between blue and green. BTW, I loved the video.

Thank you. I also appreciate the natural shades, but they are admittedly hard to find with decent color saturation. In Maine, local Aqua tends to all be natural, at least currently.

Aquamarine is my birthstone, and I MUCH prefer the untreated stones with the green tint in the blue. I find them much more striking and pretty than the heated blue stones that are in vogue now. The untreated blue/green stones are hard to find, though. To me, the heated, all-blue Aquamarine is not as pretty unless you can afford to spend LOTS of money....LOTS of money. In addition, in my opinion, the heated blue Aquamarine can't hold a candle to the Blue Topaz birth stone of December. Now, THAT is a gorgeous blue, and you don't have to spend a fortune to get an amazing, deep color. I wish it was March's stone, I may never find an Aquamarine that I like.

I've treasure hunted (quite literally) for over a year to find an untreated aquamarine stone which is certified to be at least VVS quality. I much prefer the greenish bluish color over the lighter, more sky blue topazish version. I wish there were more untreated stones so people can decide for themselves in the end which version they prefer.

    It's such a beautiful gemstone.
I've previously commented about my inherited "synthetic diamond" that I suspect to be a cubic zirconia, but I've also once been given a sizeable aquamarine that I kind of suspect of being coloured glass, so when I take the "diamond" to be checked out next week I'll bring the aquamarine as well.
As neither has cost me anything I won't be angry if I'm told they're both worthless - and I might get both set as lapel pins anyway since they're pretty and have stories.
But learning more about what they're *supposed* to be has been interesting. And who knows? Maybe not all tall tales are untrue? (Though they most likely are...)

I would start with a reputable local jeweler that has a selection of colored stones. The best thing to do is ask if they have any or can source some for you. If they have any knowledge on the subject they should ask you more qualifying questions to make sure they understand exactly what you are looking for.

ok i will share this to FB, you need more views. i love the ugly seafoam green aqua. I saw one as an adolescent in an estate jeweler, it was an inch and a quarter long and about 5/8 or 3/4 wide. He wanted 700 and I could never afford it. Ugly to most, but glows on me. So dont ever ignore the less popular colors, they may be best for you. I am from Oregon and there is lovely, but ignored yellow sunstone. but that is just me!

How about Moss Aquamarine? The gemstone is still the same but comes in various shades of yellow, mossy green and deeper blues? What is that about? And Milky Aquamarine is often cloudy BUT some are a medium blue, & I am guessing without heat treatment. Why, how are these two variations so different from the Aquamarine you addressed here?? • @YourAverageJeweler

If we are talking about inclusions within aquamarine, I believe you can find quartz inclusions occasionally within aquamarine. They are also minerals that could be found near each other and can grow within what we consider to be a specimen.
If we are talking about can quartz be part of aquamarine composition then that is a different question. They are two completely different minerals composed of different elements. Quartz could not be part of the chemical composition of aquamarine. I hope that helps.
