  • A while back, i did a review on the Fotga Fader ND filter. Now that I've been using it for a while, I thought I should come back and explain why I switched to the K&F Concept ND filter. It's a little more expensive, but there is one reason that sold me on it right out of the gate. Can you guess what that reason is?

    I don’t use a teleprompter but I’m wondering does the Fotga filter reflection show up on window glass? Also can you stack a CPL on it to reduce the reflection?

    Hi, Quick Tip: get the K&F ND8-ND128 (KF01.1079). this filter is much better for video work, than the one you reviewed in this video.
    advantages: no X pattern due to hard-stops, much sharper, less colour cast!

      Nice tip. I feel like that ND is in a different league than Fotga though. In this video I was trying to get an apples to apples comparison.

    Wide angle lenses are far more prone to the x banding problems than standard length or tele photo lenses, also, you can but cheap nd filters (non variable ones) that will work far better than the variable ones, but you have to carry more of them with different strengths.
    And thirdly, a quick manual white balance before recording will get rid of any colour cast issues.
    (Although I guess you didnt white balance for the purpose of showing each filters colour cast issues)

      Very true. Unfortunately the Fotga filter broke when I dropped it on concrete, but the K&F concept does fairly well with my 11-16mm F2.8. Check out that video when you get a chance! ruclips.net/video/ucs-bkgghoI/видео.html

    I have the Fotga for my M50 it doesn't accept a lens hood once on the lens. My Commander pro HD filter kit can accept a lens hood. They both have thread Size of 49mm Anyone know the thread size of the Fotga. I need a lens hood to match.

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  Год назад

      Different size filters will have different size front element threads. I have the 72mm filter, so I can’t tell you what size you have. Sorry about that.

    hey man, quick question :D
    I have the same manfrotto video head but I lost my plate. can you please tell me the model of the plate so I can look for it on ebay? I ordered it once like 6months ago and recieved the wrong one (for the newer 502hd model) so now I have a great video head with no plate ^^
    Thanks man. Great video by the way ^^

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  4 года назад +1

      I’m pretty sure it’s a 501pl plate. It’s for a 501 fluid head.

    Did you use same body and lens to compare? And you shouldn't change the apperture setting even if it's the same lens, change the shutter speed instead.

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  4 года назад

      I used the same body, lens and color profiles. We changed aperture so that we could maintain a 180 degree shutter angle. Thanks for the feedback! I’ll definitely consider that in the future.

    Hi does your k f filter have hard stops for the min max? I noticed other reviews mention it’s got a hard stop

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  4 года назад

      Nope. You can rotate it as much as you want. That’s why they both have such bad vignetting after max.

      Never had that problem with the Fotgas. Something else might be going on (like condensation between the two sides). Optically perfect flat glass is not an issue for anyone to make nowadays.
