  • What gave me confidence to attempt to become a bodybuilder while having a damaged heart and congestive heart failure? With no prior evidence that there would ever be hope...what happened?

Hey I’m Philip I’m 22. I recently had to get an ICD implant about a week ago I like you am a Bodybuilder I lost a lot of weight and muscle since I’ve been dealing with a weak heart and inflammation. I haven’t seen many people as inspiring as you God truly is the number 1 person to ask for help in this journey. Thank you I’m hoping to get back to full strength and make gains once more!

Thanks John for your words, I’m dealing with CHF after a heart attack almost six years ago. I’ve discovered the plant-based diet about four years ago and it definitely keeps me way stronger! But the true strength in me is the life force given to me by God each and every day :)
You are an inspiration to me, your videos give me that extra confidence to go out there and do the things that seem impossible, thank you!

I've seen a video about heart health workouts and it said things like running, biking, jogging and exercise involving holding your breath is bad for even a healthy heart. Athletic health officials did a study and found that athletes had 15% of scar tissue on their heart after their events. I was told by physical therapist that power walking is way more efficient than jogging. Try changing up a better way to get your heart pumping without that much exertion. 10min might be too long.

Hi, Jorge, so sorry for the late response! I am not good at keeping up with my RUclips yet :) Lifting was definitely something I had to do slowly and listen closely to my body. I am now up to squatting 455 on the bench squat, which is more weight than I ever tried to put on my back before my heart attack and CHF diagnosis. It is all possible, but the most important thing is getting your eating under control. If you don't change to clean fuel, the CHF symptoms only get worse and there is not much chance of advancing. Diet is the biggest and hardest thing for guys like us!
