    Hi John, thanks for giving me the courage to work out, with weights again. I was afraid I would pull my leads out of my heart. And for many years I would lift weights to maintain my figure. Also I had to be strong for the type of careers I had. So thank you so much. My old childhood heart condition might have resurfaced, but I'm kicking it's butt with church attending and diet. And by the way 222 means I heard that Angel's are around you. And protecting you. Amen to that.

      I've seen a video about heart health workouts and it said things like running, biking, jogging and exercise involving holding your breath is bad for even a healthy heart. Athletic health officials did a study and found that athletes had 15% of scar tissue on their heart after their events. I was told by physical therapist that power walking is way more efficient than jogging. Try changing up a better way to get your heart pumping without that much exertion. 10min might be too long.

    Hi great video, so inspiring. I had a pacemaker fitted 4 weeks ago.Also (2 stents) 5years ago.Have never stopped going to the gym after the stents, but discovered by accident after visiting a doctor in March this year( chest infection)Ihad slow heartbeat (no symptoms) .I'm back in the gym now walking on steep incline treadmill 130bpm for half an hour. Feel fine. Just wondering when to start doing weights again and what sort? (I've always done weights from a young age, I'm now 71 and miss doing them) Would be so grateful for any advice. God bless John (UK.)

      God is involved in everything :). I am awful at committing to doing videos. I don’t enjoy it and feel dumb every time I do it. I am skeptical that people really want to see anything from me...lol. Thanks for asking and, yes I am still alive and in the gym. My heart function has actually decreased by another 20% and it is baffling my cardiologists. I was referred to a world renowned CHF specialists who did much more extensive testing and I qualify for a transplant undoubtedly, but he can’t put me on the list till my outside matches what they see from the tests. I should be way broken down, but still functioning at a higher level than most healthy people. There is no explanation scientifically, so I can say without a doubt that God is doing something unique. I don’t know the reason just yet, but I can only think it is to do good for others. It definitely isn’t for me to just feel good and brag about it, because I really dislike self promotion. Thanks again for checking on me :)

    Hi there very inspirational videos :) I too have a device mine is an ICD which is very similar, I’m worried about bodybuilding and damage to the wires from compression etc, can I ask do you worry about them? I used to be into bodybuilding before I got my device but slightly worried now, how long have you had it for?

    • @chfbodybuilder8564
      @chfbodybuilder8564 5 лет назад

      Simon Overthrow if you have had it for more than 6 months, the leads are pretty much scarred into the flesh of your heart. They are not going anywhere. I think the overhead exercises, where you extend your arms up were the only movements that even barely come close to moving a wire, but I can do fully extended pull ups and haven’t seen any issues. I didn’t start working out until June of 2017, so my second pacemaker had only been installed about a year or so. No bad exercises that I have experienced and I feel like I have done them all.

      Awesome video Pal! Just about two months our from pacemaker insertion and was wondering about exercising at all, let alone weightlifting. Although my pacemaker was not the result CHF but from a slow heartrate/flutter, I must admit that I was pretty down about trying to get in shape again. However, after watching your video I was indeed inspired to give it another shot. The caveat to the whole thing is that I am 72 and probably one hundred pounds overweight. But better late than never. So will look forward to following your progress as you work toward a healthier you!

    • @chfbodybuilder8564
      @chfbodybuilder8564 5 лет назад

      loco2me2 think of the people you would inspire with the rest of your life if a man of your age lost 100 pounds and started working out! There is nothing stopping you! The pacemaker will take a few months to build scar tissue up around your leads, but after that, you can do any exercise you want to do. Just change your eating to a clean low carb diet and start walking on a treadmill to start. You will lose 20 - 30 pounds and feel better, which will push you to the next level. If there is a will there is a way! If the good Lord takes us while we are trying, then we went out fighting and we didn’t let life tell us NO! Heaven is our reward anyway! :). Let’s inspire some people along the way!

      Rickie Anne Hammond I’m sorry for this late reply! I kind of gave up on my RUclips thing, but not on staying fit! You can do it, I promise you! You really don’t have to do much more than walk on a treadmill and be very strict in your eating. Most of the weight is fluid, not fat, but if you eat well and often every day, you will watch that stuff fall off. Sometimes slowly and it is frustrating, but consistently following the process and being committed will overcome just about every obstacle. The hard part is to stick to the process when you become frustrated at the scale or the mirror. 240 pounds is a monster of a goal, but 10 pounds 24 times, is something you can shoot for. Stay away from salt, cut out all sodas, drink water, eat lean meats or, if you think it is possible, become a vegan, you will lose weight steadily and feel better than you have ever felt. Listen to your heart and don’t push it too far. Just become Steady Rickie and picture yourself reaching out to me in the next couple of years sporting a bikini and talking about how you train others to change their lives! That will be an amazing story to tell and you would never be able to tell it if you had not reached 360! You have a purpose!

      CHF Bodybuilder Many thanks for the kind words and VERY helpful tips. I have started my journey by being low carb under a doctors watchful eye. Also trying some intermittent fasting and giving up meat one day a week and also all soda but Diet Right I don’t drink often. I have been vegan before and loved it. I just have to watch my carbs for the time being because of diabetes but that’s the cool thing about the human body it can change and heal so maybe one day I can more natural carbs from veggies and cut out meat again. ☺️ happy to say so far I know have lost 10 pounds and I have been walking a mile a three to four times a week. I hope this finds you and yours in good health as well. Many thanks from Rickie Anne in Louisiana
