A very capable camera especially for its price point. Hopefully their other camera lines will offer the same updated features! I'm waiting on the next version from the a6600 .
For everyone complaining about A7siii I think it’s coming next month. It’s no coincidence that Sony have that offer until 28th June. I think this is a teaser of what’s to come in the more pro lineup. I think the A7siii will adopt a similar body style to this camera and include the flip screen too!

Looks pretty okay. Great review as always! 👍 My two cents here tho: 24mm for wide end is a bit narrow for vlogging imo, I wonder if it would’ve been too much compromise to put something like 20-21mm. That would set ZV-1 COMPLETELY apart from other 1” compacts like G5. we Also USB-C would’ve been perfect as most recent smart devices and laptops make use of it.
Michael Park the 24mm equiv is already using a 9mm actual lens. Less than 9mm is super hard to do without fisheye so it’s a physical limitation not a design choice

The 24mm isn't an issue because this camera is light enough to use a selfie stick with. I did that with the actioncams and they had close to fisheye lenses.
It would have been even better if it sported an ultra-wide zoom lens instead of a standard 24 70mm right? still good to see a camera made for vloggers!!

I have been waiting for ZV1 since I heard about it. I love it for what it's trying to do but I feel like it misses some key things that are dealbreaker for me. *A lot of people are complaining about lacking wider angle lens but I think it's enough for personal vlogging purpose. *Not having USB-C that can power the camera while filming is very very disappointing because the battery runs out quick and micro USB is not fast enough for delivering power. *Not having a robust EIS is very disappointing since big part of vlogging is about going around and shooting things. *I wish it had headphone jack as well. *I was also really wishing for 60fps option for 4k. *HDR mode would have been really nice in combination with face priority auto exposure. *I also think it's priced too high. I was hoping it would be around $500 realistically speaking.

But if I were into Vlogging exclusively, the Canon M50 with it's Kit Lens is a larger sensor than this camera, and it's at $499. It's also got the ability to change it's lenses, so I can go wider or zoom closer than this camera should I want the ability to do that. Plus Flip screen, dual pixel auto focus, Digital stabilization, 4K (though the autofocus is not as good in this mode), Mic Jack ability to adapt EF lenses and use almost as a full frame camera with a focal reducer...I can go on and on. It gives me options. BUT, I'm the type of guy that likes to dial in my settings. The ZV-1 seems geared to those that don't want to learn HOW to setup the camera, they just want to pick up and shoot, which makes sense. But you pay more for that.
Jason how is the low light and stability? I heard the stability is amazing. The frame doesn't seem too tight either. How long for recording on a single charge?

I went on a trip this weekend and was disappointed when the effective dynamic I got out of shooting a sunset was seemingly less than when my friend pulled out his iPhone 🤦🏻♂️ Also, glad to hear that you were able to take a break and start focusing on what you actually want to do~

Would you suggest this over an Iphone 11 Pro Max? I have a sony a6600 that I use as a studio camera and just sold my a6400, which was for vlogging and bought the iphone 11 pro max.
yes! i personally like having a dedicated camera for vlogging vs phones. Quality is much better and i dont have to worry about my phone running out of space.
You can live stream with this camera via USB tho. also compatible with older camera models like RX100m7 a6400, a6100, a6600, a7iii, a7riii, a9. Sony's new PC software will be available in July

Now at last the Flip Screen. Touch screen most likely in ZV-II and in next RX-100. In all probability they are testing the response for a7iv and a7siii. ZV-1 may be a preamble to them.

The lense is not wide enough and the stabilization could be better. Actually if they had a wider view they could crop the video even more. They almost made the perfect vlogging camera. They are close though. Anyway most people are waiting for the A7IV, the A7SIII or IV and even the A7000!

They need to come out with a multifunction hotshoe viewfinder. Put that on for photo mode and then add a mic for vlogging.

If you film at 24fps you should adjust your shutter speed to 1/50 or a shutter angle of 180°
