    Nice work there and great planning particularly where you screw the shower waste plastic nut to the underside of the van instead of the underside of the shower tray means you can always remove again if the waste fails and needs replaced.👍

      Sorry I don't know of any books, don't want to put a damper on it but if you are doing something like this for your first time be aware it is a big job, if you don't have a lot of diy experience the best advice I could give is to make lots of templates using thick cardboard or even make a a mock up out of 6mm ply so as not to waste the expensive thick stuff

    random question, but what size is the window you have fitted to the left of that shower room, the biggest one not the little skinny one. Just I'm planning to fit windows that I've just bought, I've done the measurements but I'm worried I may have bought a window that will be too long, and get in the way of the bathroom... Thanks! loved the video it's really helpful

    • @georgiahobson2178

      this is me assuming the van is a LWB sprinter or crafter of course... if it isn't never mind haha

    • @thatdamnmackem
      @thatdamnmackem  3 года назад +1

      Hi, It's just the normal size window for that panel, yes the toilet box extends about 8" in front of the window but it's not noticeable from the outside as the tint prevents you seeing it, unless the lights are on with the curtains open but even then it's not that noticeable

    • @thatdamnmackem
      @thatdamnmackem  4 года назад +1

      Thanks the box is 42" x 29" ( 106mm x 73mm ) the shower tray was advertised as 69.5 x 116 but was 106 x 68 when it arrived, I then added an extra 5cm to the depth

    great video mate , iv seen a few of your vids now and though its time to subscribe. Iv just started a lwb tight top crafter conversion myself and flying through the build . quick question is there a reason you didn't go right back to the wheel well with the shower I was planning to but up to the well so the showers a little further back from the window

    • @thatdamnmackem
      @thatdamnmackem  4 года назад

      Thanks for the sub!, I wanted to put the shower tray up to the wheel arch but when it was in position the drain for the shower came out on top of a chassis cross beam and there was a diagonal supporting wall brace which I didn't want to cut through to make the hole for the cassette access so had to move it forward until I could clear them, also I have run cables behind the shower tray to service the rear of the driver side so needed space for them, have seen videos where the shower is up to the wheel arch but think the xlwb must have different chassis member positions, good luck with your build

    Excellent video, I am at this point so really useful. Are you using a furniture board? where will you run the extractor fan to?

    • @thatdamnmackem
      @thatdamnmackem  4 года назад

      Thanks, I'm using normal ply, the furniture board is way too expensive for me to mess up if I make a mistake , the van has the 163ps engine so not worried about the bit extra weight, the extractor runs out the side of the van as I showed at the end of the video

    • @TCDEWE
      @TCDEWE 4 года назад

      @@thatdamnmackemtotally agree! Furniture board so expensive. I am using poplar plywood are you painting the ply ? Sorry I switched video off too quick to write in the comments😊😊 regards jon

    • @thatdamnmackem
      @thatdamnmackem  4 года назад

      @@TCDEWE Yes I was going to just clear varnish it so used the best ply I could find at my local wood yard but have now decided to paint it, I have applied three coats of undercoat going to follow it with a top coat of eggshell and then two coats of gloss varnish to protect the paint and hopefully give a "pro" finish, it's basically the same process as in the last video where I painted the wheel arch boxes except i'm sanding between each coat to remove any minor high spots in the paint

    • @TCDEWE
      @TCDEWE 4 года назад +1

      @@thatdamnmackem Great idea on the clear varnish to finish. Just looking at the PVC 2mm sheets really good price, are you pleased with them? I may just do the 3 sides and use a curtain on the door side. Thanks for your feedback
