There's a feral cat outside that my wife and I feed that I'm worried might be suffering some serious oral issues, although I'm afraid that it might be even worse than gum disease such as stomatitis.
She can barely eat even wet food we blend to mush, and will still sometimes eat a little and growl and hiss and run away. Also, it's difficult to get close to her, but the few times I did, she smelled so horrible and I thought it was coming from her body but upon closer inspection, I'm pretty sure the foul smell was coming from her mouth. Lastly, she is always drooling and she tends to stick her tongue out a little bit all the time, and she has these brown and black crusty bits always forming on her lower lip.
I'd love to take her to the vet but we're a bit tight on money ATM. I probably should anyway but I'm actually kind of dreading the diagnosis and also afraid of getting too attached to her.

Thanks for looking after this little girl. Although it may be different where you are located, see if there are any organizations such as animal control centers, some veterinary clinics operate their own shelter programs often in partnership with a rescue or shelter, or independent rescue or shelters that may be able to help with this cat. Wishing you guys all the best. 😊🐾

@@HealthcareforPets Thanks very much! I live in Japan without so many resources for these poor cats and ended up taking her home and to the vet. She did indeed have feline stomatitis and they started off with antibiotics but recommended in the long run that we get all her teeth pulled out. I am becoming like a cat home now. Oh well. :-D She is the second one I got this way. I wish more Japanese would pitch in and take care of these cats. I am not the wealthiest person and kind of allergic to cats but I can't just let them die outside.

@@HealthcareforPets What I have found in Japan also is that even though there are so many stray cats in Japan and with cats being such popular pets, Japanese are so ignorant about cat health. They mostly feed them low-protein diets with lots of carbs. I had to shop extra carefully just to find any cat food that is over 25% protein (the best I could do was 40% for dry and 60% for wet). We are very ignorant here about cat health and maybe because Japanese diet is high-carb more than anything else. Japanese want to feed the cats what humans eat.
Also, I have a stupid neighbor (old lady -- she is trying to be nice but very stupid) who was also feeding the cat I took in and she was giving them garlic bread and onions for food. That's when I decided to take her in.

@@HealthcareforPets Do you know anything to counteract cat allergies by any chance? Apologies for consuming your time. I am sneezing like a maniac since I brought in the cat in spite of popping allergy pills. I guess I should go to the doctor as well.
