"The Singer" is returning on 1st January 2018 and this year's singers are both versatile and international! This episode's line-up would be: Chinese Rock Singer - Wang Feng, Actress Singer - Angela Chang, Super STAR - Jessie J, Taiwanese Singer - Sam Lee, Chinese Folk singer - Li Xiaodong and New Singer Juno
Singer 2018 is the second season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer that will air on Hunan Television. It is produced by Hong Tao, and its music director is Hong Kong senior musician Kubert Leung.

Jessie J has been highly underrated her entire career.
That most likely due to her song choices as well. She main does rnb hip hop kind that doesn't require a lot of singing skills/talents. But those are the songs in trend these days. But she is really a diva, young one.👍👍👍

Stevie Khoo this statement is true in today’s RnB music because almost every song sounds the same but not the 70’s up until the early 2000’s. Rnb music during that time was a lot more complex then pop but now it’s just watered down. Also, she is a pop/RnB singer with some rnb and soulful influences in her music. However I totally agree, she was given some shit songs . The songs she writes on her own are much better and suited to her voice. I love that she has improved her vocal technique and is more restrained than she’s ever been in her entire career. When she first came out she use to over sing, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. This performance was near perfection!

She's said fairly recently that she was happy to have her moment in the pop-star spotlight but she doesn't actually enjoy writing or performing pop music. The Eastern market is definitely still much more inclined to listen to power ballad music like this than the Western Market is. I don't think the Western world "never appreciated her enough", I just think the market over here is much more pop oriented and that's not what she loves.

This performance is obviously absolutely flawless from start to finish, but one of my favourite things about it is how simply she sings the last bit. She doesn't overdo it with vocal runs because it doesn't need it, she just gets the essence of the lyrics across with so much heart and really drives it home. It is the perfect performance. She is an incomparable vocalist.

Whitney i thought (take nothing away from her) sometimes cruised, understandably with her busy schedule and personal life at the time, through some of her live performances.
I loved how Jessie J "left it all out there on the stage" in this performance. Technically sound, high risk trills, wow!! Goose bumps tear duct stimulating, immaculate performance.
She will never be better than the original. Her voice is not as powerful as WH and her tone is not as good.
That's because you never heard Johnny Emanuel perform this on Americas Got Talent.

It's because her famous songs aren't exactly anywhere near this genre.
I mean, I know Jessie J is a good singer, but the only songs that I know of hers that really "boomed" are domino and masterpiece. ... Those songs are pop songs though.
But yeah, I prefer Jessie J over Ariana. While I do agree that she has a good voice, the reason she's more popular than Jessie is because of her image, rather than because of her voice.
This performance is so utterly impressive because Jessie J has complete control over her voice. She is in her zone, comfortable and feeling the message of the song and audience. She is not just parroting the song, but is 100% into it and it really comes through. By far one of the best performances of this song ever.

I love this rendition. It feels like she held back to pay proper tribute to Whitney. It wasn't about "hey look what I can do with my voice" (as some singers tend to do during tributes) but it seemed like she was saying "look how amazing this song is". Wonderful, much respect. 😊

She deserves a Grammy! I think that she hasn't got too much credit for her music is probably due to the success of other divas like Adele and Lady Gaga. Too bad they launched their career almost at the same time.
Honestly she isn't really underrated, she's been on award shows, the Olympics, and even TheVoice in more than one country. I think her problem is the lack of good and memorable songs. Her first album propelled her, but the rest just don't seem to be of the same calibur. And that's the problem with singers in general, one or two hit songs or albums just simply aren't good enough if you can't follow up with something similar.
Also, much of it has to do with their contract with the recording label.

Always thought Jessie was just a pop singer, I'm mega impressed now, love her.

Actually she sounded restrained... Jessie J is a superb singer but this performance although great was very safe. As for setting the bar - there are several mind-blowing covers of "I Have Nothing" out there most notably those from SoHyang, Charice, Jack Vidgen etc.
