Review of the Wham Bam Flexible Build Plate System for resin printers.
I have had multiple resin printers over the years, but never tried using a flex plate on any of them. I can't believe I waited this long! These things are AMAZING!!! I will never run a resin printer without one ever again!

Hey guys just a quick addition to something I forgot to mention in the video. If you intend on installing a Wham Bam Flex Plate on an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra, there is a file you will need to download and run on your printer to adjust the firmware to account for the added thickness to your build plate. I put a link in the description for anyone interested. Thanks @Silent_Steel for reminding me!

Im having that same issue with the sandpaper. Not enough. Heading out tomorrow for more. To be fair i think its going to take a lot of sandpaper.

As long as your plate isn't super bowed like mine was, just scuffing it up a bit "should" be enough.

You should add in the method whambam put out to override the "foreign material" error that most people get when trying to install a flex plate... leads people to think it's not possible when it is... bit daunting though lol

I realized that right after I hit upload. I will try to add an annotation in the video to check the description for the link to the files. Good catch! I assume you have one on your printer? If so how do you like it?

yep... I used a knock off version but still used wham bams code edit... strongly recommend to those who use a knock off version to verify your plates thickness is the same as a wham bam tho

Wow Yes it is possible to get a Flexible buildplate on my Saturn 4 Ultra. I just received my printer 2 days ago, and after the first print I was almost regretting my upgrade from my Mars. Especially because you can't submerge the Saturn Ultra 4 buildplate. I was so used to popping of the flexplate while buildplate was still mounted. No mess no hassle. Ps. Is there a way to automatically get the buildplate to top hight after a print? ❤❤❤

I think there is a way by modifying the "End Gcode" section in the slicer setting, but I'm not 100% sure exactly how to do it. Would be best to ask on one of the Facebook groups for someone a little more knowledgeable about those kinds of things.

Hey Makes Corner thank you so much for the video! Is exactly what I needed. I have a problem thou= I use a 3dJake flexible plate cause here in Europe wham bam is not that popular, can I set the thickness of the wham bam in the script you posted to the one of the 3dJake flexible one? Also, could you help me manually calibrating the printer after the installation of the plate? I mean what is the procedure? Many thanks!

I will check when I get home from work to see if the file can be modified for your 3dJake plate, and will also find the link to another RUclipsr who has already done a great video on manually calibrating the Saturn 4 Ultra

@@makerscorner93 Thank you very very much cause I was also wondering about the foreign object sensor detecting the plate...maybe the gcode might solve that....

Apologies for the delayed response. I have looked at the script and it looks like it should be easy enough to modify as long as you know the thickness of your 3dJake plate using an application like "notepad++".

@@makerscorner93 hey ok so if I run the gcode (3djake flexiplate is 2.6 so I am going ot use FBSR gcode) I don't need to print a spacer correct?

Just wanted to come back here and say... I don't know why some people are dead set against flex plates... especially for plate building... was told not to use a flex plate if i wanted to get read of the lil bit of "elphants foot" and i listen and struggled... but just printed on my flex plate without even trying and bam! No elphant foot barely sticking out

I find most of the people who say to stay away from flex plates are entitled elitists who believe that using such products are only for armatures who don't know what they are doing. The reality of it is there are plenty of use cases for flexible build plates on resin printers. Even for those of us who are very experienced. Moral of the story, people are close minded, crazy, and weird. So do what you want to do, and be happy with it! haha

@@zakspop for the most part no... but if you put in the wrong info in and the plate crashes through and wrecks the screen... then it probably will... but installing a flex plate won't void the warranty
