I had a sudden vision of a pawn getting downed, losing a body part, eventually getting an infection and dying. Overall we got really lucky ... after being very unlucky lol
If he was using the Combat Extended mod, that will be the end of the colony right there. In CE not even armor-piercing 7.62 rounds can get through thrumbo skin.
Yeah, I really don't get dryads other than for rp. I don't mean to say that everything has to be super powerful or effective, but daily tending is a big ask. It's the kind of thing that maybe mid or late game it's a nice touch, but it's not a strategy. I made the mistake of planting the trees as soon as the colony was settled, and it was a huge time sink. Plus every time the grower was out raiding or trading the dryads disappeared because they didn't get tended enough. On top of what you said here about the weakness of the combat dryads they can take FOREVER to get from their tree to the combat and get in the way of psycasting (and any range stuff). You're better off growing a cash crop and investing that into gear/artifacts/resources/hauling animals.

Lol, no worries. I take it as a compliment generally. I used to stream overnight and the streams were 'extra chill'. Almost like gaming ASMR in a weird way sometimes. Tons of people would sleep to the streams. So, thanks for watching and commenting!
When they tried to bury the wrong corpse, I thought of a challenge run where every humanlike that dies on your map has to be buried, and the goal is to fill the whole map. Maybe turn off mechs, to make sure all raids come with corpses.
I know from experience that Randy can go a long, long time between raids, and raids can be half strength, but I still think he's a more challenging storyteller, especially up to the midgame. Having no dedicated safe period, getting multiple raids in a row (I think four in a day is the max I've had), multiple major threats stacking (toxic fallout + disease + raid was my worst), etc. can be really rough, especially on hard maps. On top of that, not getting -resource inputs- I mean raids regularly is it's own kind of difficulty (no recruits, no new gear, no combat experience, medical training, etc), and going two quadrums without a trade caravan can be tough as well. That's in addition to x1.5 raids.
Yeah, it just depends. Often times he is harder, but, after doing many dozens of full playthroughs on 500% no pause, Cassandra seems to always kill me more in the long run. It may be because I typically do really long playthroughs and thus it gives Randy more opportunity to go to sleep or roll a series of weak raids etc. Like I usually say, Randy can be the hardest for sure, other times he can be the easiest. Excited to see this one! Is there a reason why you don't put the anima tree in an unroofed room? You're already hitting the 30% so building around it doesn't matter, right?
That's exactly what I end up doing. I didn't this early on just because the wealth and materials felt better spent elsewhere. The plans are laid out for it, though!
the idea of the party is that on a fluid ideology you can always spam the party ritual and refresh them when you hit 10pts and it gets even more broken with mods that allow you to create outposts since you dont care about getting bad pawns
Yes, I talk about this on stream a bit. Anything on a shelf loses its beauty hit. Colonists hate rotting corpses, but as soon as you put it on a shelf it becomes art! :P
I remember first getting royalty and all the new music I basically became an irl ascetic my colonist all just lived in cabins with a bad storage room so I could just listen to the music lol
This is my first video from you. I usually handicap myself to use the pawns that I get initially. It would be nice to see a playthrough with that. If there is any, please tell me!
I've done a lot of 'take the first random pawn' sort of runs on stream, but haven't gotten then uploaded here yet. You may be interested in this naked brutality run (even though it is older) where I don't use any mods or scenarios and instead re-roll the starting naked brutality pawn the old fashion way: ruclips.net/video/UripJ8uAwWM/видео.html In general, any of my naked brutality runs are only going to have the starter pawn chosen, as the joins after will be world pawns.
30% debuff in anima grass is better than my 0% usage of the tree because I felt like it was too bothersome to build around. Now I have a ton of ideas! I also only thought one person could be in each "meditation" zone. I am learning so much, again I feel like im cheating lol.
I kept forgetting you went with the tribal start since everyone's already wearing button-down shirts. How do they have clothing they don't know how to make yet? 😅 Guess they bumped into an outlander bulk goods caravan right before your run started, haha
So I'm new to rim world and I haven't beat the game yet but I do enjoy challenge runs. And my favorite one so far I did with my buddies watching is a full colony of 12 psycho gay cannibal girls with anime hair, I made them all burning passions with 0 experience. And then I played tribal with a lil extra starting food. The rule was if anyone died I lost and your not allowed to add any more colonists. Fun type thing. Maybe if you hadn't done something similar as a starting and ending cast challenge then that could be a way to go.
Nice. I haven't done something exactly the same before. I think the closest was doing a tribal run and just keeping the same 5 throughout the entire playthrough.
Unsolicited feedback on the chat stream: Hey, that's pretty subtle! I don't read it, but I don't think it gets in the way. I think the chat-fans will appreciate it.
@@AdamVsEverything Yes, I was worried the chat stream would overwhelm the gameplay as it did with a couple of other series I used to watch, but no problem.
Thanks for the tip about drug policies, so much great information. I feel like I am cheating now when I play rimworld. I also noticed the same thing you did, remember when I told you I was getting stomped a few days ago? It was Cassandra lol. I dont think Cass/Randy are balanced at higher difficulties. I feel like randy used to hit harder but I dont know for sure.
Randy can still do the 1.5x hit, which can be brutal when it happens. Sleepy Randy definitely feels more common these days than I remember from long ago, though. Of course it could just feel that way.
When i do this kinda stuff i get gun and cover positions as fast as possible and train my guys in shooting very quickly before my raids get too large to handle
Hi, I'm new to this channel, just a quick question, have you ever played with the "tech advancing" mod? It just seems like something that should be vanilla, seeing as if you complete every tech of a certain tech level it advances your tech level to the next one in said mod.
Thanks for watching! - Yes, back when I used to play with mods I used that one. It was nice to no longer have tribal research speed when building spaceships, lol.
Yeah, I wouldn't doubt if eventually it is changed. You currently get a bigger mood hit if they actually witness the death, but, if you attack and then leave them to bleed out, they care much less.
20:18 Spread beds around please! With spreading beds from each other some distance you usually gain some happiness, because colonists do not wake up each other so much.
Actually, disturbed sleep is a factor of distance (beyond a very large distance) or noise or anything else. Any pawn entering the room or doing anything in there has the same chance to trigger disturbed sleep.
It only stacks to a -3. If I wanted to take up more space by spreading beds 7+ tiles away from one another as well as making sure they are in spots where pawns don't walk by one another then I'd just make individual bedrooms. I know how the disturbed sleep mechanic works, I am actively choosing not to do it.
Just got this tonight. Should I start with Cassandra? I also have the DLC's, so should I leave them off to start with or just play with both of them from the jump?

Regarding Cassandra vs Randy, don't forget about Phobe, sure, you got plenty of time to build up or to recuperate form former raids you had but the more time you have, the higher your wealth will be. At the same difficulty rating, Phoebe hits quite a bit less often but also quite a bit harder then Cassandra does
Unfortunately, she hits at the exact same strength as a Cassandra raid but on a much longer cooldown. She doesn't get any additional raid point calculations over Cassandra or anything like that. So the only real danger of Phoebe over the other two is if you get complacent and skyrocket your wealth between attacks (but, like I said, Cassandra's individual raids would also be just as hard at that same wealth/raid point). You can check in the code if you'd like, but that is the way it is at the moment. I do wish Phoebe worked that way, though. That'd make her more usable for the challenge type stuff I do. A sort of 'I don't hit often but when I do it's going to be hard' would be cool in the base game. Another problem with her only hitting a single major threat before cooldown is that things like animal insanity (both single and mass) count as a major event. So sometimes you may literally only get 1-2 actual raids a year with her.
@@AdamVsEverything Yeah, I chose bad wording but ment pretty much the same you did, Phoebes danger is more of a self-induced danger of the player. Sara Spacer presents a neat change of pace/difficulty though (although she's modded)
Cassandra hits consistently harder? Well... Now I know why I kept getting my ass fondled. I always thought "well, I don't want it too easy nor it too hard" and kept choosing her... Although, I don't run 500%.

Mods are generally in the description of episode #1. You can also see them at the beginning of every episode (here, in this one - 17:29). But, in general, I don't really use mods aside from No-Pause unless the video title specifically says it is a modded run. Also, glad you found the channel - Thanks for watching! [Mods in this run: Fº and Cº display, Camera+, P-Music, No Pause Mod]
So those dudes with the purple masks, did they ask if they could use your house and stuff, or did they just roll up on you with superior fire power, so you couldn't really stop them? also what was the strat shooting the big, white pokemon and running it into them, was it supposed to attack them or vice versa? I take it you wanted it to kill some of them so you could loo their gear?
Those are just passing traders. Generally trade caravans stay for a bit to let you trade, then eat some of their own meals and head out. I was trying to lead the Thrumbo to them because (generally) they attack any hostile animal and we'd end up being able to get any dropped weapons from the traders as well as materials from the dead animal.
I started a transhumanist naked run, just a revolver and cowboy hat (roleplay reasons), I have 8 colonists now. The sheer amount of power to make these fuckers not breakdown is insane. Extremely fun tho.
I've had it happen multiple times, even on stream. It is 'rare', but when you play thousands of hours it does happen and can be relatively annoying (or at least boring) when it occurs.
To set it to '+500% losing is fun' you have to click the 'custom' bubble and set it in there. You can't have both 'Losing is Fun' (which is baseline 220%) and 'custom' selected at the same time. If you look at the time stamp super early on ( 0:31 ) you can literally watch me click 'Losing is Fun' and talk about it.
@@AdamVsEverything yeah I've never played the game I have seen a steamer play it every now and then and came to learn more. Thanks for that information. I saw that at the beginning just noticed when the game started the circle wasn't highlighted and was curious what happened.
@@PlatinumRmx Ah, gotcha. Yeah, if you go into 'custom' to make it harder than baseline losing is fun it automatically unchecks the other bubbles (so then you have to choose LIF in the drop-downs in the custom menus). And no problem!
Threefold. 1) Back before draft tending was a thing, I'd sometimes lose precious seconds during a no pause run because the doctor would be running to get medicine before treating the person bleeding out, so I liked to stabilize them first and then move them when they weren't in risk of dying. 2) I don't want them wasting medicine on very small injuries, even if it makes them heal faster (usually). 3) I don't want them wasting medicine on prisoners/visitors. If I forgot to change an individual visitor or prisoner off of the default glitterworld medicine and the doctor ended up using it I'd be annoyed.

I just got tired during the last run of suddenly people in chat trying to say 'not an astronaut' everytime I made the joke :P He can be called whatever, I don;t care either way for sure. I did think it was funny someone said something like 'No, they confirmed on TV that he should be called a 'space farer' rather than an astronaut'. Lol, the silly things people argue over on Twitch chat. :P

Actual ballistics, ammo management, pawns are so blind and can actually hit a guy in the open even on low skill, reworked cover and armour sysstem, reworked melee combat, supression system and more.
When you start a game you can choose to create a custom Ideology. When you do this it allows you to choose memes and precepts. During this you can also click things like the text box to edit the story, deities, etc. You can click the color button to change the faction color as well. Tons of other things, too. You may be interested in this naked brutality run (even though it is older) where I don't use any mods or scenarios and instead re-roll the starting naked brutality pawn the old fashion way: ruclips.net/video/UripJ8uAwWM/видео.html
In general, any of my naked brutality runs are only going to have the starter pawn chosen, as the joins after will be world pawns.
What I expected : an introduction to Rimworld
What I got : An introduction to political philosophy
I'm lost, or am I?
The Starcraft 2 micro skills with the thrumbo lol
Lol. It's like riding a bike.
This is a fun run. Enjoy everyone!
👍
A lot of Adeptus Mechanicus vibes in this ideology. Praise be the Omnissiah!
Lol, it was more geared toward the Borg but I can see this as well :P
Wooo! Excited for this one.
Enjoy!
400 hours and i just learned about the clicking on default medicine in their health tab
That's probably about how much time I had in the game when I learned it, too. lol
30% debuff in anima grass is better than my 0% usage of the tree because I felt like it was too bothersome to build around. Now I have a ton of ideas! I also only thought one person could be in each "meditation" zone. I am learning so much, again I feel like im cheating lol.
Lol. That should help out a ton, for sure.
I kept forgetting you went with the tribal start since everyone's already wearing button-down shirts. How do they have clothing they don't know how to make yet? 😅 Guess they bumped into an outlander bulk goods caravan right before your run started, haha
Lol, that can be our head canon, I guess. We must have traded them the tribal wear we had on, also.
The timestamp simply named "SACRIFICE" just splits my sides
Lol
1:15 be liek, maybe you should ask.. oh wait you did.. cracks me up dude
Is this the wrong timestamp by chance? Was trying to figure out what this had to do with naked tribals, lol
Unsolicited feedback on the chat stream:
Hey, that's pretty subtle! I don't read it, but I don't think it gets in the way. I think the chat-fans will appreciate it.
Thanks for letting me know! I know you were one of the ones who did not want it, initially.
@@AdamVsEverything Yes, I was worried the chat stream would overwhelm the gameplay as it did with a couple of other series I used to watch, but no problem.
This guy is absolutely nuts at games
Thanks!
Hahaha the second colonist's name when you were drafting your pawns was "Poopy" at 15:25
Lol. There are some names I seem to run into a lot in my runs. Poopy is one of them. her and 'Pecs', lol.
So much hurty spots being hit. This'll be a good run!
I hope so!
Anyone knows the name of the song that plays at 17:40 in the background? Sounds really nice.
ruclips.net/video/-MqIhrUtpLI/видео.html - I think it is 'Stay Strong'
That is definitely a good thing to start working on immediately.
Hey Adam, why do you rate Kind so highly as a Trait? Because social fights can screw you over?
Not only the social stuff, but kind pawns will occasionally tell other colonist 'kind words' which give them a +5 mood boost.
Surprised killing a colonist by your own fire is not a bigger penalty
Yeah, I wouldn't doubt if eventually it is changed. You currently get a bigger mood hit if they actually witness the death, but, if you attack and then leave them to bleed out, they care much less.
What's the name of the additional/extended music mod?
I dont know but, i think its P-Music (mod)
P-Music - steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725130005
@@AdamVsEverything Thanks man! Found your channel recently, binge-watching all your stuff lol
where do i know this voice from, the dark, hollow sounding one, i know i heared that before xD
Wayne June. He is the voice actor for Darkest Dungeon.
@@ichifish No it is not "same" try it. make bed 6 tiles away from doors and let pawn in
It only stacks to a -3.
Welcome to the Rim. As far as DLC's, it is up to you, but Ideology specifically adds a lot more new things to manage. If you don't mind that then go for it. As far as your other question, this might help.

@@AdamVsEverything Thanks, appreciated.
@@AdamVsEverything BTW do you have a guide that shows how to make that trap corridor you made? it seems that is key to success in the early game.
if you lose your anima tree can you obtain it back somehow? or is it permanent and you have to switch maps?
It regrows.
It will grow back somewhere on your map. On average it takes ~2 seasons.
"You can't have masters for cats...."
Yep, this is a fact irl also.
i wonder if you would do a guide/min max guide for ideology?
I will put it on the list! Still pretty bogged down at the moment, though. :(
@@AdamVsEverything gotcha still learning a ton from you vids so no worries
So I'm starting to play with custom storyteller, Void. This shit is more crazy than Randy.
Randy was never crazy hard. its just purely random
Because he's so random, it drive me crazy sometimes
I definitely want to play against some custom storytellers sometime!
Yo someone plz what’s the first rimworld song playing? I only got 500 hours and have never heard it. I just had to scroll like 4 days back in my history cause that track slaps so hard, it was haunting me.
Only 500 Hours, sheesh how couldnt you have ever heard it before?, anyways its called Entry Screen
I can't even play this game well when I CAN pause it.
As long as you are having fun. Apparently I find chaos fun, lol
A cool update would be a flashlight for the utility slot.
With how they bitch about darkness you’re kinda right
Cassandra hits consistently harder? Well... Now I know why I kept getting my ass fondled. I always thought "well, I don't want it too easy nor it too hard" and kept choosing her... Although, I don't run 500%.
Yep! She will hit you 1-2 times every 11 days (basically) after the initial single animal/raider threat.
waiting for thisssss.
Awesome, more on the way!
thx for the content 💖
My pleasure!
He aprendido mucho viendo sus videos.
@@kornygerm es un máquina el tío xD me gusta mucho rapela también pero la verdad es que es muy malo este JAJAJAJA
I got lucky in one playthrough I opened the ancient danger and got a leg lance
Nice. It sucks that the lances have been nerfed so much over the years. At one stage they had as much range as a sniper rifle.
1:07:08 That was hilarious
Lol. The traders were like 'Nope, not messing with that thing - good luck.'
Now that I think about it, it's probably not right that an ideology with human primacy will burn human effigies on holiday.
You might have a point :P
The soundtrack seems different than in my playthroughs. Did they change things out in the 2 years since this came out?
Adam uses the P-Music mod - it adds a lot of new tracks
Is this a vanilla sound track? I’ve never heard it in my games!
P-Music mod -> steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725130005
An idea for a hard challenge could be a world populated only by whimps. Human raids would be fun, but everything else a nightmare
Lol, it would be pretty funny seeing 200 melee tribals run in with the Wimp trait
I just discovered this Channel and i like it a lot! i love that run. It would be nice to have modlist for the runs tbh.
@@AdamVsEverything thanks.
Isn’t this your most watched series?
I started a transhumanist naked run, just a revolver and cowboy hat (roleplay reasons), I have 8 colonists now. The sheer amount of power to make these fuckers not breakdown is insane. Extremely fun tho.
They are a needy bunch!
Gotta choose transhumanist with pain is virtue
With randy I've never gone a season or up to year without a raid... wtf
I've had it happen multiple times, even on stream. It is 'rare', but when you play thousands of hours it does happen and can be relatively annoying (or at least boring) when it occurs.
@@AdamVsEverything Has to be really rare then :'D id love to see that happen some time.
I've never considered making my doctor keep medicine in their inv.... I'm so thick
It can definitely be useful, especially now that they fixed the allowance rules for it.
Woohoo! Bionics!
Can I interest you in some wooden feet instead? The transhumanist don't seem to care which of the two they get. :P
@@AdamVsEverything wooden foot is Tribal bionics. Acceptable. But that AGE REVERSAL THOUGH!
Hype!
Enjoy!
Since the trap path to the bedroom is without doors, do you get the "slept outdoors" mood penalty?
There is a door, it's just set to 'hold open'. As such, it still counts as a room and indoors.
Invest early in sleep accelerators and biosculptors and you've already won.
I did this but the credits didn't role for some reason.
@@AdamVsEverything Well did you build 100 meditation altars after? Required for the true ending.
@@apophis135 I knew I was missing something :(
@@AdamVsEverything lol. Great content man keep it coming!
At the beginning the "Losing is fun," circle wasn't highlighted does that mean it wasn't turned on?
And no problem!
got recommended this after a 3 hour factorio video dont mind if i do.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
What's the reason for turning of medicine allowane for all characters?
1:22:25 A member of the crew of a spaceship or other spacecraft that travels beyond Earth's atmosphere, or someone trained to serve that purpose. I'm not envious of Jeff Bezos but by definition he is an astronaut. He doesn't even have to go to space to be an astronaut by definition.
Now add combat extended and watch as sanity goes down the drain
Only SAN loss is occuring if you play with vanilla combat because its beyond awful.
I still haven't tried out that mod, but it has been mentioned on stream a ton. I may at some point.
@@AdamVsEverything pretty much bullets feel like bullets
@@AdamVsEverything you should add it. It has been my essential must have mod since A12 aka days of Combat Realism.
Actual ballistics, ammo management, pawns are so blind and can actually hit a guy in the open even on low skill, reworked cover and armour sysstem, reworked melee combat, supression system and more.
song at 1:40:49 ??
How did you edit your ideologies like that in the beggining ?
When you start a game you can choose to create a custom Ideology. When you do this it allows you to choose memes and precepts. During this you can also click things like the text box to edit the story, deities, etc. You can click the color button to change the faction color as well. Tons of other things, too. Once you are done you can also now save the Ideology so you can easily load it up for future games (which is what I did here).
