I'm not that good at games such as rimworld, so I stick to easier modes typically. I'm completely blown away for how difficult this game can be, and I'm so glad I've found this channel. Absolutely astonished!
If I had to add one note to your "advice for new players" suggestion, it would be not to get attached to pawns and try not to focus too much on one in particular. Just because you're decked out in marine armor doesn't mean a random tribal won't hit a pila to your dome on a bad roll.
I’d argue this really adds to the story aspect of Rimworld. Sure, if you’re trying to play ‘optimally’ it’s a terrible idea but that’s typically secondary to having fun for new players.
5:25 WAIT, Dumbo was one of the colonists you left behind! I saw he had your ideoligion and had a hunch, went to go look at your character creation screen in ep1, and sure enough, there he is! Guess he came by to deliver you a "gift" 😂
That ambrosia thing, I can't believe people don't know it, I've used it since pre launch I think. Also, this series helped me start actually wanting to build a more efficient base travel wise, I always build more organically but this time I wanted to do it differently. It's neat
Yeah, I am always surprised by how many people have not seen little tricks like that in the past. It's easy to miss, though. It took me hundreds of hours before I realized there was a default medical tab, for instance. :P

When ppl are kidnapped, what’s the maximum amount of time that can pass before you get the rescue / ransom option? Like, before they’re just lost for good?

Just found this series, I also enjoyed Warrens world dom run as well. I know you don’t play with a bunch of Mods, but your right, the enemy bases are pretty simple after a certain point. Check out “powerful faction bases” mod. It changes everything
Awesome! And yeah, it is a shame that you have to use mods to make enemy settlements interesting at all. Hopefully that is something looked at more in a future update. I will check it out when/if I play with some mods again.

I consider the deep storage mod not so much as making things easier, as just logical. The idea that the same amount of space it takes for a bed can only hold enough for for a person for a couple days is ludicrous. Yes, some of the things in 'deep storage' can be considered exploitive, but even then the designer built in times to load and unload. I consider it essential, along with "Color coded mood bars", "color blind minerals", and "run and gun". The lateral isn't exploitive because bad guys can do it too.
I don't mind how anyone wants to play, of course. Storage mods like that do go against the developers 'core principal of tile economy', but who cares, that's what mods are for!
Is there always opportunities to recover the kidnapped people ? In my last game I did archonexus and at my 3rd colony 2 of my favorite people, there from the beggining, were kidnapped. I saved money for months to get them back but I never saw them again... I was doing transhumanist run and they were full bionic and archotech lvl 6 psybrain with 18 or 19 in one skill. Much pain in my little heart :(...
@@AdamVsEverything That's sad, when I sold a colony I wrote in capital letters the name of all sold people and I saw I killed a bunch of them but I did not notice if I killed my 2 favorites :(. Maybe ! We'll never know ! Thanks for your great playing and advices
@@AdamVsEverything oh if that happens, shock lances helps a LOT. Only downside is risk of brain damage but it's worth doing if there's a big raid and you want to get a pawn without beating them down.
@@Mike-kl5yc For sure. Much harder to recognize if there is an old colonist in them, though, when it is 200 tribals attacking and you're not able to pause! lol. I ended up killing several old colonists that way in the Archonexus run here on the channel.
As far as I know it is just part of the base game. I've always had that even without any mods. If you are not getting that on PC definitely check through all the game options. You might also have a mod disabling it somehow without knowing.
I finally added P-Music after hearing it so many times in Adam's streams, and except for Yayo I immediately forgot which are the original songs and which are from the mod. Such a good mod.
Was thinking.. If you remove the anima tree from the work area (or a 3x3), maybe even if you accidentally set a cut order for it the pawns will not be able to take it down
That's a good idea, as long as I keep the most inner area out of all zones. Of course if I ever need to cram in more meditation spots for new colonists I may have to redo it, but definitely could work!

Not currently, but that is something I have been thinking of. After my current Fluid Ideology run I am thinking of doing a RUclips exclusive run which will be a 'guided playthrough'. For this playthrough I plan to make it so viewers from RUclips can populate the pawn list! No eta on when I can make it happen yet, though, as I am way behind on some things currently :(
Just gonna say this and be buried here, loved the series but the one change you could make that would make the game really difficult would be to have a combat mod like Yayo combat or even CE that adds ammo need! You make it 500% you play on the hardest ST and the game is still to easy without ammo need.
Outside of Steam's Workshop, you can find mods for Rimworld on Moddb and Nexus. You probably will be able to find on other sites as well, but I don't know them personally so can't say. Also a challenge you might like: Spacer start or Tribal, your choice, going with Robbie Random or Pheobe if I spelled their names right. Ideology; Nudism, Fleshpurity, Pain is Virtue, and Tree Connection.
What?!? No retelling of the "legend of Pondscum"? When the kidnapping happened I thought for sure we were going to hear the tale... I hate it when I forget something like muscle parasites until it's too late. In this last run my melee-space-wizard is also sickly, and I'm always forgetting he's got gut worms or some other ailment. Two kidnappings is not the worst that could have happened, so there's a bright side. Psycasts: Man, rng really is r. On my current run the first four casters picked up a good spread of combat casts, including all four getting berserk pulse. I'm on the second colony with another pawn, and she's literally gotten all of the "word" casts except chunk skip at level 1. Glad she wasn't one of the first ones. Is it worth it to build a nature shrine to offset the artificial structure penalty?
The story will come back around again I am sure :P And yeah, sometimes the RNG really sucks. I'm EIGHTY hours into a fluid ideology playthrough on Twitch right now and have over 20 maxed psycasters and have not gotten a single berserk pulse...

Not always, unfortunately. And, a lot of the time, they will return in an enemy raid and you end up killing them. :(

How do you get the progress bar on tasks? Like the cast bar above the pawn showing the rate of completion of the current task?

What resolution do you play in? Something other than 1920x1080 or am I tripping?
This is streamed at 1920x1080, but I play in 2560x1440. Is it because of the UI scaling? If so, that is through the game options.
