Hi Ed! I'm excited to see how this potting method works. While I do throw in a few pieces of limestone and marble chips in the bottom of the pot of the lime lovers, I've never added quite as much as you did. I think I would have done a bit of a side by side comparison, considering you have two (now 4) plants, leaving one in a bit heavier bark to lime ratio. Well.... Nothing ventured nothing gained! Here's to great success! Kelly D
Hi Kelly and many thanks for your comment. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few months because of all the limestone, but the kovachiis do need a lot more calcium than the other Phrags. Thankyou Kelly. Ed.
Hi Cheryl hope all is good with you. I love cardinale, mine is in spike so looking forward to the blooms. I had a beauty some years ago, which I lost to crown rot, of the' Birchwood' variety but this one is just a straight variety.....will be interesting to see if there is much difference. Thanks Cheryl. Ed.
I did like your kovachii bloom, but it did remind me of the old man from, "Up". I think when I run out of Growstones I will have to try calcium carbonate with my Phrags. My L. perrinii has opened. Not sure if it has opened properly but it is a first time bloomer and I did move it into the house so I could enjoy the bloom better. I still think it is pretty. Thanks for sharing
Hi Larry. A lot has happened over the last three years and the worst part of it was that I had a fungus infection which ravaged quite a lot of the phrags....some survived but unfortunately of the 15 I lost the kovachii's were part of the losses. To this day I keep having the same problem on occasions despite repots and thorough cleanings........'Im seriously thinking of ridding myself of Phrags a Paphs........to much trouble at 85 years old!!! Ed.
To my mind the vast majority of orchids require an alkaline medium of around 7.2pH and an acidic watering ( inc,. nutrients ) from 6pH to 6.5pH so that the roots can take up the nutrients they need. Thanks Spencer. Ed.
Once again it cut you off at exactly 15 minutes 🤔. Is there anything we can do to get You Tube to stop doing this? I enjoy your videos- especially when you are repotting 😎
Eds Orchids not old age - just “forget” what else may be available! I actually got the idea from Miss Orchid Girl (she was using them to remove moss from a fine rooted orchid) and I had a “duh” moment as I was trying to remove sheaths from an oncidium 🤩

My perrini opened for just one day and then totally collapsed overnight. I think I had it in a too warm environment.

yes, it cut me off, great video
Sorry about that Denise it will not happen again.

@@EdsOrchids no apologies need it!
Hi Ed, about to repot a P Korvachii was interested to know how your repot played out, was your limestone bark mix successful? Regards
Larry

@@EdsOrchids Hi Ed, sorry to hear about your Phrag problems they can be difficult at times regards Larry
really like your videos Ed. i'm quite suspect a tropical species "prefers" increased alkalinity versus tolerates it, what are your thoughts?

I've contacted youtube on many occasions without ever getting to speak to anyone so I'll have to put up with just the 15minutes.
Thanks Trish.
Ed.
Good video as usual like to watch you repot give me some ideas thanks a lot
It's entirely my pleasure to try and help as much as I am able Andrea. Thankyou, take care and have a wonderful weekend,
Ed.
12 C? Glad to know I thought that would be too low for Paphs...
A nightly temp of 12c is good for all the orchids I have ever kept. Thanks Fernanda,
Ed.
Also try tweezers yo get in between growths to grab the dead stuff out
Now why couldn't I think of that Trish ? ......... it's right your memory does disappear with old age.!
Thankyou.
