  • Hey everyone, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. I'm excited to share a comparison review of two popular minimalist wallets: The Ridge and ROSSM. I have been eager to get my hands on both of these and compare them as I often see them discussed as very close in form and function... but very different in price! I had to see for myself if the Ridge was truly worth the premium price.
    Be sure to watch until the end to find out my final verdict - is the Ridge worth the extra $100 over the ROSSM? If you enjoy this video, please like and subscribe to stay up to date with my latest reviews and recommendations!

    Do you think the Ridge wallet is worth the premium price for the upgraded features?

    • @c0horst
      @c0horst 8 месяцев назад +8

      No, but I'm still going to pay it, because Ridge did all the hard work of inventing the product, and letting someone else come in and basically produce an exact copy that steals it's design and undercuts it's price point significantly by being cheap on materials feels like a business model I don't want to support. Ridge is the original, and until someone makes something better that isn't just a cheap copy, I'll buy the original.

      I can’t justify a $100 dollar difference in price for minimalistic quality features, especially when they ONLY cover screws and elastic with their lifetime warranty. The aluminium scratches very easily too, as I saw another review on the ridge key case. The guy only used it for a month, and it looked like he had it for 10 years! If you have more coins than what the coin case can hold, then it will most certainly go in the same pocket as the wallet… also causing significant damage to the wallet.

    I have both a Ridge and I had to buy a Rossm out of pure curiosity since it's so much cheaper than the Ridge. That is pretty much the exact thing I noticed. The cards feel grittier going in the Rossm than the Ridge. Other than that the Rossm is pretty much exactly the same. Not a bad Ridge alternative at all. The Ridge does have a slightly better quality feel to it but that Rossm is hard to beat with the price way lower.

    Thanks for the review! I've had a Ridge for about 4 yrs and love it! No issues with it so far. Looking at getting one for my wife, found RossM and was wondering how it compared. Also found some nice designs with Axwell she likes. Need to find some comparison reviews of them now. I do know they are 2mm thicker than Ridge & RossM. Thanks again for the insight!

      Question tho. The rossm being more gritty in the video is a bit more concerning to me. Have you upgraded the insides since the video cane out? The question really is, will sliding the cards in and out be as smooth as the ridge as seen now; and will it damage and scratch the most from and back cards? Thank for the answers in advance.

    Thanks for the review! I know it had to be dragged out for the YT algorithm, but I appreciate you showing the generic wallet as well. Helps put things into perspective. Ended up getting a Rossm (Resin Wood) after this video. I can't justify spending $150 on the Ridge despite it being nicer if the only major difference is the "gritty" feeling of the Rossm. Looking at reviews the Rossm doesn't damage the cards, but might scratch them a little. For $45 though (got mine for $35 due to sale plus discount), its hard to justify paying the extra premium for the Ridge. They both offer lifetime warranties as well, so it makes it even harder to see the 3-5x premium making sense with Ridge.

I got the white matte one for 75 luckily from ppl saying 95 bucks woo saved and got the best. And yea I like the quality and smoothness from Ridge . hi, I'm going to buy a rossm but was wondering if the 7 screw holes line up exactly on both the ridge and rossm. Also is the finger cutuout identical in size and location? The reason I ask is because I want to install an accessory that's made for the ridge but i want it to work on the rossm. TIA.

    I just switched to a minimalist wallet 2 days ago when I received my Ridge wallet. Since I'm new to this, I didn't even know ROSSM existed until this morning. I'm so confused about both of these now, so I ordered a ROSSM Forged Carbon wallet about 10 minutes ago. I wouldn't mind gaining $40 if I returned the Ridge and kept the ROSSM, but I have no idea what I'll do. And so there's a LIFETIME warranty on the ROSSM now? I couldn't find any warranty info on the ROSSM web site at all, unless I missed it...

      @@gatorreviews First, I noticed a big difference in having back issues since not having a thick wallet in my back pocket... but even after a few weeks I still stop and think a minute when I feel no wallet in my back pocket. As for the Ridge, I kept it. I sent the ROSSM back. I agree about the strap quality or the Ridge, and I actually did feel the grittiness of the ROSSM when sliding cards in/out. Happy with my choice, and now getting used to how these wallets work, getting cards in/out, what orientation works best, stuff like that. If I know I'm going to use something a lot, I don't mind paying more for it. My only regret is that I wish I could have gotten a carbon Ridge, not aluminum, but couldn't swing it. SO that's my mini review...

    I have a ROSSM wallet with Elastic band for cash integrated and I love it without a clip . The only complain I have it’s how much friction you get into the cards from sliding in and out and at the end you end up scratching the face or bar code from
    Your credit cards .

    I’ve never been more convinced to get the Rossm. The shimmery of the screws? I don’t know that seems to be a stretch. Speaking of stretch, you get an extra elastic, so who cares if one will last more than the other. Rossm comes with lifetime guarantee, so you’ll get a replacement when you rip through the two that you have. Not that you will. And call me crazy but I prefer the grit feel.

    • @gatorreviews
      @gatorreviews  Год назад

      They have the potential to scratch the cards but it hasn't been much of a problem tbh. As the wallet gets used the elastic stretches and gets looser, so there's less friction (still plenty to hold the cards in place). The scratching is especially a non-issue for the cards not in the front or back position.

    The elastic money strap on my Ridge fell apart two weeks after I bought it. I was not impressed with how they handled the warranty process and ultimately sent the wrong replacement part. It’s a premium priced product. I expected premium materials tjat wouldn’t fall apart and I also expected superior product support which I don’t feel was provided. Unfortunate because I had bought two Ridges. Loved them until the elastic money band fell apart when I went to take it off and put on a money clip. When I was taking it off I saw the threads just fell apart. The stitching just fell apart. It looked like a child had used a needle and ran a thread through a few times and didn’t tie anything off. Just an abysmal stitch job. I will be trying a Rossm.
