I agree wholeheartedly. The man absolutely sings with his guitar. I have NEVER heard anyone make a guitar sound like it is actually singing a soul wrenching blues song as well as he does every time he takes a solo. He is unmatched.
That easygoing tossed off casually rehearsed rehearsal contained some of the best slide playing I've ever heard , and what a fantastic sound he gets . Astonishing.
@@sl5932 right on, that's fair. Music is subjective. both those guys are great. Jack is actually incredible. At least you didn't say george thorogood, he is literally the worst professional slide play imho. For me as a slide player Derek is so far above the rest its hard to compare, except maybe Sonny Landreth.
@@cglasford1 I should have mentioned a cat named Greg Martin of the Kentucky Headhunters. Not a ground breaking player like Derek, but very pleasing to the ear.
Is it bad that I like these stripped down impromptu versions better that the full blown live ones??? Love the Leavin' Trunk, Soul Sacrifice, Chevrolet, versions so much!!
Nice little solo by Susan at the end...I was lucky once to meet her and her band...walked into a little sushi spot on Old St Augustine and noticed a guitar case resting against the wall...what kind of guitar is in the case? I asked...it's a 1962 Fender P Base...Wow...are you guys in a band?...Why yes, we're the Susan Tedeschi Band...Star struck, I said, You must be Susan....I think your husband is one of the greatest guitar plays I've ever heard....I get that a lot, Susan geneiously said...then it hit me what an idiot thing to say to an incredible guitar player in her own right. Susan, you are one of the best guitar players I've ever heard and by far the greatest vocalist....I should have lead with that.
Yeah, it was from Antholigy, posted here, that I just found this tune. Ironically, my uncle had loaned me his copy of Anthology when i was a kid in the late 70s, but it was lost on me, back then,LOL!
It's actually my favorite song off "John Wesley Harding". Dylan's original version (with Pete Drake on pedal steel, Charlie McCoy on bass and Kenny Buttrey on drums) is a gem.
I saw Duane a few times and to me, he's the best. I also saw Sonny & Brownie and Johnny Winter. To say any one person is "the best" kind of dilutes the excitement of watching these cats play. Derek is among the best, that's for damn sure!
we all know theres tons of killer guitar players out there,.....tons. Congrats to derek for ascending to that select group,..... so Derek, if you read this,... Please consider doing this song below and uploading, which featured another guitarist, who wasn't southern rock, but I always thought a great slide player,...your interpretation would be awesome i bet,....... the song: Chateau 59 Lafitte Boogie, the guitarist Rod Price of Foghat fame,... gosh I listened to him and their work alot back in the day ,......,....I know that you can do it, so if possible thank you so much.......
Derek is there man. He just knows how perfectly he sits in the scheme of a song. No ego, just love for a tasty tune. Mad love for derek
Perfectly said. Thank you.
Duane is smiling from on high with that right there. Made me stand up and stop working...tight
"The best I ever heard". That's what BB said to him. Yes he is! Susan ain't no slouch either!
Man Derek is too damn good. Best guitarist in our generation.
not just "our generation", he's the best i've heard, period!
He is on a different level than even the other greats
4199ny hard to say what would have happened if the greats had them selfs to learn from. but anyway. you are right.100%
frustratingly good

Same here, not a fan of his slide work (although he is awesome) but this is spectacular.
@@sl5932 interesting, he is probably the best living slide player. Do you like slide guitar at all? if so who do you enjoy?
@@cglasford1 love slide guitar, for some reason I never enjoyed Derek's style. I like Elvin Bishop's and Jack Pearson's slide work.

I'd pay good money for a whole album of material just like this... raw, smokey, grease bucket good! Title: Green Room Goodies...
Have a listen to the version on Ton Ton Macoute by Jonny Jenkins with Duane playing - or listen to the complete album.
@@davidbird8644THANKS!!!
Is it bad that I like these stripped down impromptu versions better that the full blown live ones??? Love the Leavin' Trunk, Soul

Love John Bell. Love Derek's 'less is more' approach on this wonderful song.
Love these "fly on a wall" videos. Great moments captured, thank you for sharing!
That nod when handing it back over to John is what I love about jamming
As others have said. Derek is the man! Wow, absolutely sensational! We are so very lucky!!
..another smooth and cool tune. Love 'em guys and gals
This makes me smile like no other RUclips video
Damn that one felt really good! What a treat, these musicians are! 😀✌️
This is real good shit. So good I can smell it was thru my phone...lol
Another Bob Dylan classic performed brilliantly by the Tedeschi Trucks Band, this time with John Bell. Love it.
i could listen to this all day
Who in the world could possibly be okay with disliking this?
It's so refreshing to hear TTB , one of the best bands getting a around
This is what happens when super talented and humble people rehearse :)
Can't wait for another European tour !
Oh yeah baby! The Tedeschi Trucks Band were an instant band all the way!
ah man i live and breathe for this

No ego that's amazing and so cool
This is such a great jam. Love it.
Come back to the Big Island you guys!! Love!!
what a room! reminds me of when i used to sleep underneath titirangi shops, youd hear the blues being howled there too
Wow, perfect vocals to go along with TTB, great video!
Man, Derek is a boss! Best guitarist today
Marvelous interpretation of this relatively unknown song of Dylan!
Done by Johnny Jenkins with Duane Allman on Duane Allman Anthology I.
Yeah, it was from Antholigy, posted here, that I just found this tune. Ironically, my uncle had loaned me his copy of Anthology when i was a kid in the late 70s, but it was lost on me, back then,LOL!

just brilliant
Just another example why you should know the Tedeschi Trucks Band
Spot on !!! None better
Sounds awesome you guys !!! I love it !!
Wow! Thank you, that was so much fun. Felt like I was jamming with you. Singer from Toronto
Killer stuff. Can't help but think of Brother Duane playing on the Johnny Jenkins version.
i loved that version.
Such a killer cover of a killer cover
Amen to that
Superb!

Derek gets the big chair! Great clip 👍👍
Derek slide fantastic as usual but listen again to Susan solo at the end of the song.... Yeaaahhhhh
People forget that she is an excellent guitarist in her own right.
Derek puts smoking on the guitar! Elegance.
Love it!!
So sweet. Please put this into your routine.
Nothing real complicated but damn it sounds so good! Got to hit play one more time! Love it!
I like this song better here than out on stage at the concert.
Phenomenal ❤🎉
Great blues feeling👍
so f'n organic, sprouts started comin up from my carpet
great sound
My man playing bass in laying a GROOVE. Tight.
Johnny Jenkins on "Ton Ton Macoute"; which was planned to be Duane's Solo Album! Great song ...
Still have the original LP
Derek always " in service of the song". holy smokes !
please come to Canada
Derek, glad to see you using the Token Combo. Sounds good.
Some good ol ..good time Jamming 😎🎶

This is so gutbucket !!! 🙏🙏
TTB and John Bell make for some mighty fine soul moving music...
Hitting the Note (as usual)
Eric Clapton brought Trucks with him to Australia. I have never seen or heard anything like it.
How fun would that be?!
Is this a nod to JJ and Duane? I'd love to hear a tribute remembering tonton Macoute. Voodoo in- particular.. Bring it back.. Love from NH
fire
Susan does some nice picking here 👏🎸
As good as it gets.
Heck yeah!!!!
Super.
Wow!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know what snare is being used? Could use one of those in the band. Thanks!
Hey!
Who's on keys? It almost looks like John Hermann without a hat, but I've never seen him out of his Mets regalia
nevermind- I did a little setlist digging and saw that it's Mitch Chakour (Alecia Chakour's father)
When practice is better than 99.9% of the rest, I spend my $$$ to see TTB
20🖤🖤
Eeeeooowwwww.........DAMN............
Anybody know what Derek is using for an amp in this particular vid?
It is a Token 1x12 Cherry combo, I built the amp.He makes it sound great.
Jeff Jones thanks!
💞💕
Lord have mercy is right
Derek is good but JB's voice makes this version of the song
Tasty - know what I mean? Good shit just slides out of Derek's hands; no effort but solos that make my, uh, southern man head north.
03:07 when Derek looks over at Susan.
What happened to the chior ?
That's a great Taj Mahal song! ... O.k., I know Dylan is credited with this, but we all know what a thief he is, too, right ?
Not really.
Made in the USA!

trucks plays guitar like a man whose big toe is damn ready to shoot up into his boot.
For the first time after listening to him from when he joined ABB I now can compare him to Duane .
Click like if you'd like to sing a verse or two with Derek adding fills in between. 😄
Mr. Derick Trucks Taking The World To School On Slide Guitar Same Similar as Can Be 2 Mr. Duane Allman along w Mr. Warren Haynes
I love it when they pretend to organise it on the spot...so corny cute
There not pretending it's an actual rehearsal.there pros.
Mit Brot Backofen hinter Derek Trucks...?
Mitch chakour!!!!
Yep.
Derek and Susan and their guys are one of a kind. Here's the source:
