    Watching this sealed the deal for me, mechanical dials dont fail. No e locks for me.

      That was my first thought too. Maybe have both, but at a minimum have a mechanical dial.

    I'm thinking that most people are not understanding that it took 6 hours to open the safe so as to not damage it beyond using it again. I'm guessing that it wouldn't take 6 hours to get into it.

    Thanks for sharing!! I can't believe someone closed the door while the concrete was curing!!! n00b move for sure, likely the new guy on the framing crew.

    Yeah who designed that dang safe room 😂, a small ventilation hole is a must for a safe room if you ever want to go inside it without suffocating.

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  4 года назад +5

      It was planned but just hadn't been done yet. The house was still in the framing stage so he shut the door while that was being done. Unfortunately, it only took about 2 days for the problem to develop. He's going to have full HVAC in the room when done.

    Question @ 3:08, why does Graffunder not make the door from the start out of this "material" that's supposed to be stronger than the original steel was in the first place?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  8 месяцев назад +2

      Good question. The stuff he uses is like an epoxy putty with carbide in it that just fills the hole where he drilled. I doubt it would have the structural integrity of steel but is harder to drill.

    you said it happened from when they poured the concrete, so does that mean if they left the door open while the concrete set it would of been fine or does a room like this need permanent vents of some sort, even after concrete is set?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  11 месяцев назад

      I'd say it would have helped a lot and probably would let enough air in to remedy that problem.

    Unless this safe door is in the basement of a mall that's close for Christmas day 6 hours to get in is probably more than enough to keep thieves out.

  • @davez2989
    @davez2989 4 года назад +1

    So in terms of cracking this, how hard is this to do? I know Graffunder claims to be secure but this almost seemed to easy. I reckon your only showing the end... I thought they built the doors all being unique making it way harder than drilling right here and you're in.
    Also moving forward is this door basically junk now? you mention some sort of filler material for the hole what is that stuff called? how could it be stronger than the door?
    any idea how thick the walls are?

    • @parkerssafes
      @parkerssafes  4 года назад +10

      They are very hard to crack. This took about 6 hours with a guy who really knows his stuff. If you would've seen the tools and tricks, you wouldn't have any concern. Yes, Graffunder does move things around to prevent "standard" safecrackers and locksmiths from opening it by coming in through he sides or top. Luckily, Mark isn't "standard"! For comparison, Mark, can professionally open a standard, production gun safe in under 30 minutes where it'd take others hours of "exploratory surgery" so to speak and a bunch of big holes and the safe is then generally ruined. As for the door, it's fine and completely functional. The filler is a carbide laden epoxy and super hard burred plugs that can only be driven in one direction. The new lock has different drill points so the old hole wouldn't get you anywhere anyway.The walls were around 14 inches if I remember correctly. Forgive me if this video made it look easy. Yes, in this case, he did open it with just one small hole, but the video doesn't show the variety and number of specialty, expensive drill bits that he went through nor the insane amount of measuring and remeasuring he preformed. I can assure you it was not at all easy.

  • @dougmacqueen1679
    @dougmacqueen1679 Год назад

    Just to be clear here there are a whole lot more than 6 safe techs capable of opening this safe. Yes a decent safe but there are many that are even more difficult.

  • @teller121
    @teller121 3 года назад

    Do you find this an argument to go with mech dial in lieu of electronic (me being a bit lo-tech and stubbornly old fashioned; but willing to change some!)?
    Also, I notice Graff (or Sage) has a down website saying they have a new one coming. Are they still around? I noticed that website of nice people in Haleyville, AL didn't have Graff listed as they used to (though I haven't visited their site in years).
    Changing subjects but staying with Graff safes, like so many things these days, any chance their assembly process has been effected by damned virus and reaction thereto, so that quality of safes hurt. It's a coincidence I ask you this as your trying to get inside one of them. Truth is, I've toyed with yrs with getting one and I'm getting closer. I heard from a car dealer that he had concerns, for instance, about quality of otherwise reliable model truck they sell, given slow-downs on assembly lines; workers, foremen sitting out; chips and other parts slowing down or coming in sporadically. Just curious. Thx.

    • @parkerssafes
