  • So we are posting these videos a little out of order, but that's ok. We finally did it - we finally purchased our GT Mountain bikes - yay! In this video you see us (Rob & Steph) arriving at Dick's Sporting Goods where we purchased our bikes. We walked in not knowing if they were going to have our bikes that we wanted (color and sizes), but we were hopeful. And to our surprise and glee, they had our bikes in stock - yay!
We stood around for a little while just looking at the bikes, but no-one was coming to helps us - so we found the help button and pushed it. That did the trick because after we pushed the magical button a Dick's super hero named Patrick came over and helped us - he was awesome! At the time we purchased our bikes which was late Friday afternoon they didn't have a bike tech on hand to make sure our bikes were tuned up and ready to go, and wouldn't until the following Monday. So they gave us the option to take our bikes to a different store or wait and pick them up Monday. So we decided to take our bikes and go to another Dick's Sporting Goods store Saturday morning.
We are so glad that we decided to try a different Dick's store, because we meet an amazing bike tech named Todd. He was awesome and so knowledgeable and helpful. We couldn't be happier with our experience at Dick's Sporting Goods - huge shout out to everyone who helped us! You guys are great!

This guy is what every store should have. He really knows what he is doing, and went way above anything ive seen in any employee. When I purchased my bike from Dick's, all he did was wheel the bike up to me. I get home and noticed the front tire was flat and the rear tire wasnt put on correctly. Im going to bring it to a bike shop to have it checked if it was properly put together.

We were super lucky to be helped by Todd. Went above and beyond for sure. Can't get that type of service everywhere! Dick's is lucky to have such a great employee.

This guy's really knowledgeable about bike's even though it wasnt his professional trade however he's so helpful to people and he obviously has studied and learned how to maintain bicycle's and he is an asset to Dick's they should really give him an award for amazing service awesome video

Yeah mine wasn't as thorough as this guy, but then again I quickly fell in love with tinkering...pretty much have replaced about 50 of the parts already.

You should ask jerry if he wants to do a series with you. Short series on common bicycle troubleshooting, repairs and tips. Super chill dude with just enough corny jokes to please the masses!

For 299 it’s a bargain. I love the way it operates so much I got 3 of them to replace my Schwinn mountain bikes from Walmart. The Schwinn has so many problems it cost to much for parts to keep fixing them

the bike mechanic was awesome although he was talking out of his a$$ for some things, for example the holes and slots in the brake rotor, the only reason they are there is for weight savings and for better airflow, they aren't there to collect dirt like he said lol, and i have no idea what he was saying about higher priced derailleurs. Pretty much all derailleurs use the same mechanism for shifting gears, the higher you go in price you get better materials, you get a clutch and you can get cassettes with more gears. Overall though great video. i got that same exact blue and black GT and I've fully upgraded it, the only thing that is stock on it, which will change in two weeks is the front rim, I've upgraded literally evey single part on the bike execpt for the front rim and i plan to get a new front wheel the week after next. If you're interested here's a pic of mine, i just added the Maxxis tires yesterday and the new WTB rear wheel. Also please do not pay attention to imgur saying my pic may contain explicit content, i have no idea why it's doing thet, imgur is acting really weird today, it's just a pic of my bike imgur.com/a/0MMln8k

I liked that GT in black/turquoise, but the $600+ price tag scared me away. I ended up buying the Schwinn standpoint at Dicks.

Yeah, it's been a great bike. I love it, but I don't $600 love it. We wouldn't have purchased these bikes if we didn't find them $200 less online through publiclands. Dick's matches their prices.

Just I don’t know if you noticed, but on your mountain bike, the GT mountain bike your cables are way too long in the front. I would definitely go to a bike mechanic and get that fixed. That is very important and I noticed the wheels are a little bit wobbly from the back wheel please be safe on your mountain bike

The attention to detail this bike is getting is not the norm , its is being done because they are being recorded . With that being said , most bikes at big box stores are not assembled correctly or set up right , they are just slapped together .
    FYI .
