The Redemption of Lionel Fusco is such a great part of the series, and it's so incidental that it's almost not a subplot. It just happens in the background.

I just cannot get over how outstanding this entire series was!! I started watching season one just 2 weeks ago, and since I’m retired, I binge watched it because I just couldn’t stop watching it!!
And when season ! was over, I went straight to season 2. And soon as it was over, I went straight into season 3, etc etc!! this, Series did not have to end with just 5 seasons!!
No way in hell anybody will ever convince me of that. Furthermore, I read several articles about the show when I got to season 4 because as fast as I was watching it, before you know it, within about three days, it would be completely over for me.
And you have no idea how much I was dreading that. But I digress. Every article I read showed that it didn’t need to end and that it was still pulling in between 8 million and 10 million viewers for each showing.
But no article could I find that stated exactly why, why it had to end!! and with this being over, it has pissed me off so bad, because in today’s world we live in there’s not much on, that’s worth a damn.

Honestly realizing that Fusco trying to have the Cartel kill John mightve been one of the major things that solidified Johns confidence in choosing Fusco as one of his assets.
It proved he was clever, resourceful, and capable of finding a way to take a shot at him, even if it wasnt Fusco to do it. Fusco had a problem (John) and tried to get rid of it using any means necessary.
John couldve abandoned fusco and found another asset. But Fusco trying to have him killed proved he was the perfect asset for John.
And john was more than capable of handling an asset.
Fusco thought John was his problem, and he turned out to be his salvation.

For all we know, the Machine could have recruited MULTIPLE teams like Finch, Reese, Shaw, and Fusco....
And it could have kept going at least a couple more seasons!
Or John Reese could have brought a parachute and jumped off the roof before the response to his effort to kill Samaritan brought his end to fruition.

Was a bit disappointed that Reese didn't actually help Fusco the first time and got him into even worse trouble. Later on in the show Reese gets a lot closer to and more protective of Fusco. I mean the cartel guys threatened his son (indrectly but still...cartel violence is awful and Fusco's boy doesn't deserve to end up the middle of it). Don't know what Reese was thinking here, most of the time his bad ass fearless behaviour works and even if he gets in a bad situation he can get himself out (without help most of the time) but in this case it wasn't just him facing the danger.
Even though this cartel situation was partly down to Reese with the whole detective Stills thing he still made things worse for Fusco initially - although it could have been a bit of a test to see what Fusco would do, Reese did disable the cartel guys intially and Fusco could've grabbed a gun and killed them himself - the fact that he didn't shows he's not a merciless killer that would take the life of someone that's already down but selling Reese out shows Reese that he didn't take the initiative to try and sort out the situation in a better way (although Fusco's options were limited) and was willing to give up someone he knew when under pressure.
Telling Fusco there are other dirty cops he can go to after not helping with the cartel in the first instance is pretty nasty of Reece, he's basically saying I'm happy to use you for your information and assistance but I won't come to your aid when you & your family are in danger as you're replaceable if you die. Like I suggest if it was partially test for Fusco it might result in Fusco being a better assest for Reese and maybe a better person but it could've gone completely wrong if the cartel guys just killed Fusco instead of using him to get to Reese after Reese stole the drugs.

Reese is former CIA. So he doesn't have friends; just assets. So Fusco was treated accordingly.

    • @RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus
      @RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus 8 месяцев назад

@@st3wi3D assets must be managed properly, you don’t leave them out in the cold to diminish in operational capability and you don’t let them get too comfy either so they stay hungry/motivated. Plus you don’t want to build a bad two with assets, you want them to respect you and fear you not to think that you’re a thug and a bum.
