Technically an improvement of one of the oldest runs on the site (tasvideos.org/15M), this TAS aims to complete all levels and overworld enemy battles as fast as possible.
The run features tricks and strategies not seen in the current warpless run (tasvideos.org/3028M), and is worth checking out even if you're already familiar with that run.

It probably has nothing to do with how meticulous Miyamoto was in each stage's design. When casually played you can't just blast through the obstacles, which made the stages take a whole lot longer to complete.
You just have to watch your timing mate
The true measure of quality for a TAS run is just how much showboating they do during autoscrolling stages.
So true. It's what makes a tas the best, not the perfectness, just the messing around when waiting for things to happen.

I can't help but wonder if there was ever a count of "Oh, I didn't know we could make Mario do that... We are making Mario do that now." discoveries in this TAS.
It thoroughly looks like you guys had a blast making this.
I met one of the two dude that made this TAS. My life is half complete !!! But this TAS is Freaking amazing. 5minutes faster than actual TAS (with some strats nearly impossible to get consistant in a RTA run)

2. This run is not hacking, provide the inputs to an actual console and it will work fine.

Frame by frame gameplay and save states for a period of about two years. That's how we did this =).

World 4 castle Shooting fireballs to the beat of the music was a nice touch 😂
the best part of watching tasses is knowing about all of the little things a normal person wouldnt see, but what I do, and know how difficult and minor it is, is fascinating

Were the boards always that short? As a kid, they seemed to go on forever. I remember super Mario 3 well. I was living as a young kid in Oklahoma at the time and it was the first and only time my mother allowed me to rent a video game on a school day instead of waiting until the weekend.

I know that, for the sake of a TAS (or any SMB3 speedrun), the Kuribo's Shoe takes up too much time for an optimal playthrough, but can you really say you played 5-3 if you don't pick it up?

Impressive but, quick question. From other runs it looks like a Hammer Suit in the last several levels would be faster (faster boss kills etc.). Am I mistaken?
For a TAS, getting the Hammer Suit is actually slightly slower. I don't have any notes left on it from our research though, and I don't remember exact numbers. But it was tested a lot.

using glitches is cheating. if you use bugs in an online game you will get banned becatse bugusing is not cool
this isn't an online game... plus this isn't cheating, this is TAS.
Darkblitz He is essentially speedrunning 96 Exit, which allows all but a few game breaking glitches. Please do some research before you try to invalidate somebody's hard work.

Does skidding while running in world 1 castle increase speed or it's just parkour strats?
It's a way for us to increase the P-Meter with less distance.
Every 8th frame, the game will check if you are on the ground with enough speed (40 or more), it will then add one arrow to your P-Meter and the timer will reset back to 0. During the frames inbetween, it is possible to lose speed and regain it again. This means we will drop slightly in distances for every arrow we build up and therefore won't need as much distance.
A much more detailed explanation can be given if curious =).

You can clip through walls if you have P-Speed. It is difficult to clip as it has to be pixel-perfect but if you’re doing a TAS, a few input adjustments and you may be going through a wall.

Why is the timer slow sometimes? Is Mario warping space time itself when he runs that fast?
The in game clock runs slower the more the camera is moving. I guess the reason could be to save processing power somehow, but I'm uncertain.

Top P-Speed affects the timer of the clock, slowing it down. Don't know the technical explanation but it's basically what happens
It is the usual case of gameplay slowdown in effect, but the timer is more affected by it.
Couldnt u use ACE to speed up the autoscroll levels while technically still not skipping anything
