    I love my 0470. Usually ZTs are too overbuilt for my needs but this guy is perfect. Strong and classy. Chatoyance

    I’m sure there is variability in production of this knife. It would have to cost even more for that to not be the case.
    I just bought one of these. The first day I had it I struggled with flipping it open.
    Then I put a couple of spots of oil on it and flipped it about a thousand times (or so - I didn’t actually count). It seems to get more and more smooth and easy to open as I work it.
    Sure, some of it is practice. But it feels noticeably smoother, faster and lighter now. And I am able to use a good bit less pressure to flip since the break in period.
    This knife clearly responds well to being broken in.

      Same experience for me. Was pretty concerned when I first got it, smoothed out a lot.

    Great review, I'm looking for a flipper to go with my 940 and ultratech and this one caught my eye. Definitely prefer knives that carry well in the pocket.

    This knife will benefit from being disassembled and cleaned. It was full of factory production crud when I took it apart. The blade design I suspect is purposeful to keep the flipper tab small and unobtrusive. So not a Nick S . Pocket pecker. The price I admit was out of bounds but I was able to work a trade with another ZT in conjunction with a purchase at a gun show and got the 470 for $170. As you spoke about , this was a knife I knew I would love the moment I seen it .

    I pulled the trigger, and the flipper tab is a non-issue for me. I tried it at the store first, and it worked flawlessly for me. My ZT0562Ti does have a more snappy action, but that 0562 flipper action is also better than my Hinderer XM-18 3.5" as well.

    Really liked the review especially the honesty regarding the tab. You are the first one I have seen mention it. Most just say see I can fail it but I can fail just about any knife. So I am glad to hear it in a real way. The knife is beautiful that CF is prismatic. Everything else says buy me but the deployment issue and price are a bit too much for me.

      I have zero issues with the flipper tab. Even after having it for... 3 months? (Can't remember when I got it) Detents seem to be the one QC thing that varies the most. Not just for ZT.

  • @MetalsForBrunch
    @MetalsForBrunch 5 лет назад

    I had the same problem with mine but to fix this just add lube on the detent ball then the blade will fly out better. The friction of the dry detent ball slows down the flipping action of the light blade. The flipper tab was tiny for me in the beginning but It grew on me. I like how the zt 0470 flipper tab doesn't poke me in the pocket like how my other flippers normally do like my other ZTs. The flipping would be more like sliding down when pulling back. My zt 0452 is a better flipper because its a bigger blade weight and bigger flipper tab. The Zt 0462 was harder for me to flip because its tiny and more pointy but flips smooth. Overall I would still carry the zt 0470 over my ZT 0452, 0462 due to weight and size.

    I really like this knife & my blade rockets out with just a push on the flipper! Only thing I would change is make it a little thinner behind the edge, but a GREAT knife

    How is it going in 2022 ? Still worth it ? Here in Canada its around 375$ CAD. Looking for an EDC to complete with my Quiet Carry IQ. This ZT look great but is there better value with still good action ?

    Your review is dead on. I've watched a bunch of reviews on this particular knife and all of them seem to have a fairly snappy detent. Not mine. It is just too soft. Unless you get a little bit of pressure on the lockbar, it doesn't want to jump out. I love the knife, but it could be better.

  • @Al-ds3sw
    @Al-ds3sw 3 года назад

    That knife has been on my wish list for a while since it came out I do have one question for you how is the flipping action on yours I finally ordered one and it came in today and it has the worst the Detent i’ve seen on an eye for a while I can barely touch the flipper tab and it opens very sloppy does not engage I can flip it where it flips open and engages but it is very weak I can’t imagine this is the way the knife is designed it is a legit copy came from Blade HQ thanks for Videos

      @Youtube-Censorship-Police Год назад +1

      take it apart and make a top-down photo of the lock bar to see where it sits theb slightly overbend it until it's ~2mm tighter, put it together and the detent should be fine.
      i've done that on many framelocks with ansloppy detent and it always worked.

    The blade looks like it belongs to a different knife. Not just in overall shape, but in finish as well, and the way the choil and the flipper tab don’t continue into the lines of the grip in any sense or form. Too bad because the silhouette is actually nice.

    I still can't get over ZT's horrible branding on the back side of the knife. Model number, company name, blade steel, serial number, USA, Sinkovich Design...it's just so unnecessary. Much like Microtech's horrid billboarding. Just destroys an otherwise beautiful design.

      i bet you could shave it down, and make a new finish on the knife.
