A truly beautiful performance by Kate Winslet. This scene always stuck in my mind. The character of Marianne, especially in this scene, shows how people feel when this kind of thing happens to them. This whole scene expresses it perfectly.
This film was the first Jane Austen adaptation I ever watched. I fell in love with it and I still am, even though I have not seen it for months. Kate's acting in this scene was absolutely amazing 💓💓💓
This feels like another movie or another book. Marianne and Elinor has a conversation about Willoughby settling, if W would have been happy with her even though he would have had no money.
He never loved me -because it's true - "love it not love which alters when it alteration finds ...it is an ever fixed mark." He never loved me -but it was my fault for staying so long.
It's so sad .. this was my new favorite movie in the nineties after I saw it .. I rented it .. I love the part where eleanor is crying please don't leave me but it won't show it
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,But bears it out even to the edge of doom.If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
Thi is my favorite scene in the whole movie. Thank you so muchfor posting this scene. And thank you so much DDMGJ for the verses. They are of an extraordinary beauty. Thanks a lot!!!
Love is not loveWhich alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no! it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come:
I love Winslet doing Shakespeare. She did a great Ophelia in Hamlet and her delivery of "I, of ladies most deject and wretched" is just a moving as this one.
William Shakespeare
Her chances were never great as she was poor. Eleanor understood this that's why she encouraged her to be more guarded. Willoughby could use his wife's money to set up a mistress if he only wanted her money..it's probably what he did.
Do you love me ? Si supieras lo que te he Amado y lo que te AMO!!! En nuestra proxima vida SERA 😢 #NextLife 💔 nunca te voy a olvidar, aunque Nunca pude verte, abrazarte o quererte ...
Not a truly woman? i'm a woman and I don't think a woman must be defined by the suffering of a lost love, a woman is not defined by suffering. I love this scene anyway
Hi, Enoch! I'm a woman too, and I do believe any person, female or male, could suffer this way. Depends of the character of each other. I'm a romantic person, so... I undestand Marianne, unfortunately I'm so alike her.
Kate is such I good actress... my favorite
All at some point in our lives we go through the same feeling as Marianne at that moment
True

Jezus kate is amazing here she acts from the heart& Soul!!!
Marianne didn't care that Willoughby lost his money. It only made her angry that he ditched her without saying a word.
This feels like another movie or another book. Marianne and Elinor has a conversation about Willoughby settling, if W would have been happy with her even though he would have had no money.
Almost every scene looks like an 18th century painting.
Shakespeare's Sonnet 116.. AWESOME!!!
i love this poem and she portrayed it with so much feeling and hurt

A very pleasant film. With beautiful actors.

This is so beautiful. I love Kate Winslet she's brilliant. And Shakespeare says it all so simply. Perfection.

Layla A. Reaves he had no choice
$$$$ money
Her chances were never great as she was poor. Eleanor understood this that's why she encouraged her to be more guarded. Willoughby could use his wife's money to set up a mistress if he only wanted her money..it's probably what he did.
