- In March 1796, a young Napoleon Bonaparte assumes command of the ill-equipped and demoralized Army of Italy. Despite the army's poor condition, he decides to launch a daring offensive against the confident and well supplied armies of Austria and Piedmont. With this, Napoleon's first campaign begins.

Thank you all for your kind comments. We never thought the documentary would get this much support and interest. This video was initially intended to be a one-time passion project. However, your support has inspired us to continue the series on Napoleon's First Campaign. We have been working on Part 2, which will continue the campaign through the Battle of Lodi, and are confident that it will be completed by the end of the year.
@@calebwalker4823 Same, great work
Did you go military school???
Good luck lad, I wish your channel well! I hope you and the other viewers catch my comment about historiography/EHTV stylistic elements. In short: I'd love to see more discussion of historiography and source material, and I think that would instantly skyrocket your channel above EHTV in terms of quality and educational value (It's already equal in my opinion). Listing sources is a great start, I will say.
Epic History TV: Doesn't cover the early Italian campaigns of Napoleon
This guy:
i feel like they would but later
@@centurymemes1208 maybe, but i bet that their vid will shorter, just 3 episodes and that's not enough
Italy is where Napoleon carved himself into an Emperor. This campaign was so successful that it made up for the blunder against the Austrians up north.
@@vutienphuc1519 More like 5-6 episodes.
We need new blood, I'm delighted to see a new channel filling demand for this uncovered campaign. Channels often become more complacent as they grow, newer RUclipsrs have an incentrive to try harder and produce higher quality work. I'm happy to see PMF Productions covering this rather than Epic History Tv.
I see that Epic History TV has had a profound impact on youtube’s history genere.
Indeed they have. Especially on me
So far there is Warhawk and this channel.
Overall the dramatic documentary style channels are fun to watch, but there is also a lack of discussion of historiography/source material, which is an issue.
@@Zogerpogger yea warhawk is also amazing, like I never saw any RUclipsr going in such depth for tactical details of battles and operations, such a pleasure to watch (also with his epic musics)
It's visible the influence of epic history TV, and that's a good thing. Nice documentary.
This channel is doing nice. But, napoleon is epic history tv option. His option can be frederick the great
@@AdityaSingh-iz5zs why Frederic the great
@@christopherf8912 because he was a great commander. Maybe he was not innovative like napoleon but he had capacity and willingness to take iron decisions.
@@christopherf8912 I hope this channel continues on 1st and 2nd coalition
Yes, I was really inspired by their incredible content.
I liked the vine boom sound effect for each concessions Piedmont had to make to France
It's marvellous, I always want to know the visible version of the napoleon campaign in Italy, and you deliver it real good
This was truly something to behold. Please if you have the time consider doing the rest of the campaign
A nice little fact from Napoleon's days in Italy. Once he was crowned emperor of France he wanted to be crowned king of Italy in the Duomo of Milan but the facade wasn't finished yet, because of financial issues. So he told the architect to finish the project and said when he is crowned he'll pay for everything. So the architect had the labourers finish the facade and the architect added a little statue of Napoleon to say thank you for financing the project. He was eventually crown king of Italy with the crown of Lombardi but never paid a single cent that he had promised.
I really love this channel, so much so that it inspired me to create my own history channel! Thank you!
An outstanding video! The detail and different style, compared with more famous Napoleon's recounts, allows us to see the average height general making mistakes, being almost doomed, and suddenly being blessed with luck; but also his being prepared to exploit it. 10/10 want the rest
It's very interesting to see the early campaigns of these generals who have such massive reputations. Once can see how their reputation's growth results in later "good luck". Look at Caesar for instance, he talks about his luck, but it is clear that many of his later successes were to do his reputation preceeding him (e.g. Pompey's behavior after the battle of Dyrrhachium).
Thank you! I've been listending to the 'Age of Napoleon' podcast and its nice to see things laid out visually
What an episode! I was desperately looking for French Revolutionary Wars series, and this is absolutely what i hoped for! I would be so happy if you continued with the Rhine, Flanders, and Italy campaigns. You have just earned yourselves a subscriber!
Me too
Ahh darn, one day I was hoping to make such a series, it appears someone more educated and qualified has beaten me to it!
Whatever, I'm going to sit back and enjoy this excellent production. I hope this channel keeps growing!
This just poped up in my recommendations and it was 26 minutes well spend. Very well made vid my good sir, I hope you will make more.
Criminally underrated channel.
Here from epic history TV. You've produced good stuff here. Keep it up!
Didn't know how much detail was invested into the italian campaign.
I knew about napoleon exploiting the weak gap, but i tough it was just two big armies in a medieval-style campaign. Loved the video, liked and suscribed
once in a while you find a hidden gem in the youtubes. today was that day. well done great video! may i sugest since you have been inspired by epichistorytv to cover the battles that they brushed over? perhaps the battle of dresden of the battle at hannau. keep the video's comming one more sub and a like for you
Your work is greatly appreciated, I can barely contain my amusement, and interest.
Excellent ! The descent to the bottom of Italy always impressed me (less than one year )
So Epic
You need to share this to more people. This is really well done. You would get much more views.
That was great dude! Really continue you did an excellent job!
He is is battle tested during the battle Tulan he brilliantly displayed leadership and great battle tactics as a major
I've rewatched this several times, keep up the good work you and your team will blow up in no time at all.
keep up the good work man! if you're this good from the first video you'll be a giant history channel in a few years. as the emperor said for lannes, "i found him a pygmy, and left him a giant"
The Italian campaign was the pinnacle of Napoleon's military career.
What about 1805
my personal favorite is 1814
Thats just wrong xD
What an amazing documentary! Really good job on these much needed early campaigns of Napoleon for RUclips! I'm sure your channel will grow tremendously sooner or later! Keep up the good work mate! :D
So much more comprehensive than epic history mate…well done..keep it
Coming
You did what EHT didn't do yet, and you did it well, beau travail.
This production quality has thoroughly impressed me. I'm subbed for more!
Very Professional! And you may have a career as a voice-over narrator, too!😉
Eh
@@christopherf8912 You had to edit a comment saying "No"?
No
@@christopherf8912 Then why did you?
Exactly
Good video, your channel will find its at some point if you keep this up
Epic History lacks coverage of Napoleon’s early campaigns, so seeing your vid actually come close to the polish of their vids quite impresses me and I watched it start to finish. Excellent job and I hope you continue with a series.
Great documentary on something that isn't covered by any other channel in such a concise and easy to understand way while still being complex. Great job!
I really hope your continuing this series
We are!
Millesimo, not Millesmio. Monte Negino in Italian is pronounced with affricate g [d̠ʒ]. The consonant cluster in (Torrente) Corsaglia has to be pronounced [ʎ], that is something like a geminate -y-, "corsayya".
Bruh
This is VERY good. I'll be waiting for a part two!
Hope you keep it up this was amazing and really well done. Napoleon's early campaigns tend to get overlooked when they're my favorite part of his story to learn about especially Toulon.
Bruv I swear I see you everywhere on this type of video.
Superb documentary, can you make more of these Napoleon campaigns....Keep up the GOOD work!!
Great and detailed. Very good production.
I have only one question: how come you have only 2k subs at the moment? That is unacceptable, you deserve 100k in no time :) wish you all thr best!
I’m glad that RUclips recommended me this video
Looks like I've just found a gem !
This is very detailed and I wanna see more… I think there is more interesting details in this than epic history series… there needs to be more light shed on the Italian campaign and in general early battles that epic history skipped.
All in all amazing work
This is amazing work! Hope to see the rest of the Italian campaign in the future!
This is an amazing documentary, I can't wait for the next part!
Commenting to massage the algorithm gods. Fantastic video this, excited to see more from you.
Hello. Was looking for you on twitter/social media to have this convo but I couldn't find you - so i'll just say what i wanted to say here. I've always wanted to make this series on Napoleons first campaign. No one ever did it on YT and I planned on being the first. I kept procrastinating and had some personal issues come up so it took me forever. Last year, I searched YT to see if anyone started a series on Napoleons first campaign and then I saw your channel. I was so mad at myself lol, but seeing you start the series motivated me to finish my own. I waited to watch your episode because I didn't want it to influence mine. Long story short, I am here to say that I finally finished and published my first episode and watched your first two episodes on the campaign. You did a fantastic job. I look forward to seeing the rest of your series play out. Well done and congrats to you.
Thanks for letting us know about your new video. We agree that the 1796 Italian campaign is extremely interesting, and it's great to see another fan of Napoleon make a documentary about it.
We wish you the best of success on your series!
@@PMF_Productions thank you for the reply. You guys make great content and I can’t wait to see the rest of the campaign. I love the videos!
Dude, this is great, you should cover more of Napoleonic campaigns!
THIS IS SO AWESOME ITS LIKE THE PREQUEL TO THE EPICHISTORY TV Napoleonic war!!!
Your growing so fast
Great video 🔥
Very well done, and as others said, clearly inspired by Epic History TV, which is a good thing. If I may offer some constructive criticism:
- The names of the commanders of each army can be difficult to see when the camera is zoomed out, particularly at lower resolutions.
- The voice-over is good, but I recommend (from experience) that trying too hard to sound "epic" tends to have the opposite effect. Rather than trying to make the narration epic through dramatic voice acting, try to instead develop tension through storytelling, having stakes in the characters, and the timing of music. Let these things build an ambience that demands matching voice acting, rather than trying to make everything more dramatic because of the voice acting.
- The microphone quality slightly gets in the way of the "epic" style of narration, though I find that's easily forgotten once you get into the video.
Epic History TV music is awesome. It definitely adds to the story.
I love the detail of leaving markers on the map of where battles were fought, reminds me of Medieval II and Shogun 2 Total War.
Great job! I hope there will be more of Napoleon in Italy!
Thank you for the video
Keep it coming!
This is so good. This makea me wanna play Napoleon Total War
Great video. This is exactly what is missing from the epic history war series. Really hope you continue to fill in the gaps! (or even make a full series about Napoleon).
Oh My God! This is amazing! Please keep it going and do it for all Napoleon campaigns. It's going to get a lot of views.
I'm so hypes about your channel's future!
I'm your number 1 fan!
Let's go!!!
Great Video and the detail is really good for a beginner like you
I watched this two years ago now, glad to see your channel get involved with EHTV, watched all your episodes of 1796 and recently was aw'd at your work on Eylau, absolutely brilliant stuff and cant wait to see more
Thank you for this video! From the visuals to the music to Napoleon’s quotes, I see it as a spiritual successor to EHTV’s amazing series.
Looking forward to more of this.
Very well done… looking forward to more!
This was fantastic, really loved the vid. I would like to see more of napoleon's early campaigns in the future from you. Great work.
Impressed with your commitment to greater detail of operational maneuvers of the campaign, which most military history sites don't go into as deeply. Looking forward to next video.
Absolutely brilliant, a joy to watch and can’t wait for more. Of course you are heavily inspired by epichistorytv, I still love your additional information such as the resentment against Napoleons appointment. Can’t wait for more of your great work.
Well done👍👍👍
Hope to see the next part asap ;)
Nice video, please make more video on Napoleon's Italian campaign
Good job guys. I hope you finish the Italian campaign and also continue with the Rhine campaign
There are aspects of this campaign that seems similar to the Spring 1814 campaign in Northern France.
Excellent work! Very much looking forward to more of Napoleon's Italian Campaign, particularly the Battles of Castiglione and Rivoli.
Very very good video. Thanks for making.
Nice vid man
Great use of maps and interesting video on a fantastic subject, congrats from France!👍
A lot of people are commenting on the Epic History TV connection. I personally hope this channel will come into its own and be considered stylistically seperate from Epic History TV. Utilizing stylistic elements of EHTV at first I think is a solid strategy, but I would also love to see productions that move away from the tired themes of (some of) the larger dramatic documentary channels on RUclips. These channels basically do not discuss historiography or source material which is *critical* for the study of history, and tend towards great man history. They often fail to adequately reflect the true horror of war in my opinion, and tend to focus on Napoleon's "genius" rather than his ambition, an ambition that got hundreds of thousands of people killed. Ultimately all works of history are biased, the nature of history is subjective, and it is important to keep in mind the "directionality" and approach to history that is taken by each channel, even if their productions are incredibly enjoyable to watch. Thanks for reading my little ramble!
Excellent video! Thank you!!!!
Very good video! 👍👍
The quality is fantastic!
Hello when do you plan to publish the second part ? Great work.
Great video. Please make more videos
This reminds me of Epic History and I love it
Good work here. Good work
Incredible thank you so much
Great video man! When will you make more on Napoleon's early campaigns?
Great video! Keep uploading!!!🔥
You see what GOOD videos inspire.
Came at the recommendation of EHTV and did not regret it. Subscribed. Outstanding presentation, I will watch the continuation of your series on Napoleon.
This was well made. Please keep making more videos!
GREAT JOB on the documentary! =)
good work, bro
Nice video, great documentary 💚
Good video Hope you do Wellington and the 1813 Pyrenees Campaign at some point
Can't wait for the next episode. Superb production.
Lets hope this series blossoms .
Amazing video! Hope to see more!!
I hope other episodes of Italy Campain will release soon, btw can you make the volume of music bigger ? This chanel may get 200,000 subscribe in the future if you can continune
Thanks! I wish, but the video took hundreds of hours to make, and now that school is back in session I am struggling to find time to work on a sequel. When I made the video I didn't want to make the music too loud, but I agree that I definitely made it too quiet. If/when I make another video I will be sure to fix that problem.
@@PMF_Productions you can increase the volume in some scene such as Quotes, good luck
@@PMF_Productions Great work, yeah bigger quotes would help for reading but above all, would be more punchy. Focus on school for now but I'll be there for your next video.
Great job man. Very professional. I wasn't planning on watching the whole thing but I just couldn't stop watching. I hope to see more of your work. If I may offer you a humble suggestion.. I think adding the battles would make your channel follower numbers blow exponentially.
I love these videos. History with commentary. Good job!
These videos are amazing, please make them longer! I like to listen to long shows on my headphones while working! Great channel ☝️
A fabulous video! I know you have a wonderful talent.
Keep up the great work.
Nice work filling a gap left by others on Napoleon between Toulon and 1805..
