In this video, Eric Arceneaux teaches you how to sing. Specifically, I teach you how to sing high notes without struggling to reach the notes.
2 important keys for high notes(mixed voice). Make sure to get proper breath support-breathe from your diaphragm. Its common for people to tense up when singing high notes. Loosen up and Breathe. Keep your whole body loose and relaxed. Also think down rather than up when singing a high note. One last thing, everyone has the ability to be a great singer. It just depends on how much of your time your willing to commit/dedicate to practice. All things are possible.

Don’t anticipate the high notes, let the googs do the work. make sure your core is completely relaxed, don’t force any notes, don’t reach up and tighten for notes. Put your hand on your stomach. Talk out the googs

I am here because I have always loved singing. I just have never had the nerve to sing front of others. I'm getting married in November and I want to praise my lord Jesus christ by singing! I want my high notes to be on point! Please pray for me because I am crapping myself just thinking of performing front if others 😫
elvira pineda good luck!🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
elvira pineda wish you luck!
elvira pineda How did you do?
How did it go?
Jesus who?
Hey Christopher. This video is simply about learning to release into your upper register, blending the voice VS. pushing/yelling for it. HOWEVER, with experience, we can learn to add more intensity and chest voice resonance into the mix. Think of it as paint: Chest voice is black, head voice is white, mixed voice is grey. Those grey shades can be really dark grey (very chesty mix) or light grey (a headier mix). But, again, the very first step is learning to release into the mix itself.
When he says "ladies join in" and you've been singing from the second scale, lol #lowvoices #stillalady
S. Ong oh thank goodness it wasn't just me lol
Lmbo right
MEEE
I know right are you Ladies singing in the male octave too? Lol
same lol
I like how Eric explains the exercises and he even explains how people do it wrong and how to do it right
I'm an operatic tenor and I must say, you really know what you're talking about.. keep up the great work, man! Very impressed.
Hey everybody! The link to part 2 of the video has been fixed. You can find the new link in the info box, in the upper right hand corner.
Ive been practicing high notes and i sound like Mickey Mouse, does it get better over time?? Because i dont wanna sing like mickey mouse
You can be my Mickey mouse daddy 😍
Jeremy spoke in class today EXACTLY
Did it get better?
lmaooo this comment made my night. I feel u
I know it's been a couple years since you wrote that comment but I hope this'll help. The Mickey Mouse voice comes when our vocal chords "disconnect", break apart from each other, and we go in falsetto. This exercise is great exactly for this purpose, to shift from chest voice into head voice keeping the vocal chords connected, without breaking into falsetto!
I love how you speak as if the person is right there in the room with you. I have my laptop down in front of me and it feels as though this is the case for me. Also, I appreciated your solely playing the scales because, occasionally, I find myself trying to match, not the key, but a coach's sound if I am doing the scale with them. It's hard focusing on myself when I'm focusing on them.
start 6:06 continue 8:27 then 9:31 then 10:13
This video legitimately helped me break through with mixed voice technique. Previously I had a mixed voice but it was more metallic and chest-driven, now I've developed a headier one which is way less strained.
eric you are definitely the best voice teacher, thanks so much, your videos help me a loooot. i auditioned in a new choir and the first practice we did the same exercises you show us, i was like oh yes i know them, it won't be too hard
The other time stamp comments aren't working for me - not meaning to spam!! Thank you for this warmup
6:04 - [ladies] 6:41 - 8:26 - 9:32 - 10:13 - 11:36 - 12:20
Much needed. Thanks mate
I like he actually takes the time to go through a whole lesson like it was a class you were sitting in and paying for.
Dude, this is an amazing lesson! You are so kind to share your time and knowledge with us!
Im glad i found this channel!
His Shadow Looks Like Kanye West.
Kayli Clarke for real tho😂
Kayli Clarke Why Do You Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word?
Fr 😂😂😂😂
Kayli Clarke right
Haha lol I didn’t notice until you said it
Im gonna do this every day until I perfect my voice. You are truly a great, helpful person. Thanks for the video!
This may a bit random, but I thought about almost everything you said in this video while I was doing this exercise today.
What’s amazing to me is the fact that I haven’t seen this video in like, 10 years.
I guess you explain things so well that it’s really easy to remember. ‘Cause my memory is not that good lol.
Thank you for the info. You’re a great vocal coach. God bless
Hey doc...I'm back. Tried other RUclips vocal coaches lost some range, and almost lost my voice trying to practice compressions and frying (think that's how it's sp). Wow, I'm back to your Approach and my throat feels so much better, cooler and more relaxed. Keep doing what your doing doc you've got the best vocal prescription. God bless...
Wow!! Your tutorials are really helpful!!!
I'm finally improving and quickly getting the hang of not using too much head voice! I've always struggled with this and thought it was unfixable Thank You!!
ivy rocha how did you do it? I keep cracking at the highness of the note 😭
You are absolutely amazing. You showed me exactly what I was doing incorrectly and guided me to where I should be heading. I had one question though: I believe I have achieved mixed voice, but when singing in it, I notice that my voice will distort or make a kind of "vocal fry" sound. The same happens when I sing in head voice near my break. My break is around a G to A#. So, I'll be singing a note in mixed voice at a G and it will sound very unsupported and like it is going to topple over any moment. Do you have any suggestions for that?
Practise notes below normal C and stop practising high notes for few days!! Hope it will help!
This is the best video I've seen !! I had neck surgery one year ago , Im so impressed of what I just learned from you !! I so wish I Had someone like you to teach me up North !! Just so I could actually be. Physically practicing. I am not a professional singer. I always love to sing. I'm trying to work my way up to just be able to sing. I have been singing for the past 2 months. He's actually therapy for me. Also I watching you, I just learned so much, when I first went online to search for music lessons I felt as though a lot of teachers were basically teaching the same technique, but you have the most knowledge of teaching the best possible way, I would like to thank for all of your master techniques. I'm sticking with you. Sincerely Lisa d.
I wish you were here so you could tell me if I was doing it right or not lol
Oh yeah I bet you do babe 😏
Imagine 1st I don't get it
True
lol you want something else
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww aint that cute
Hi Eric! I am a voice teacher of a 16 year old boy. we are right at the place you talk about in high notes 1. He likes to sing all of his high notes loud. He is very teachable and he works on it very hard. We are going to work on the GooG idea. Thank you for your help!
thank you Eric, your lessons are very helpful! are there any videos of you singing a song?
Yep :) ruclips.net/video/DK11jpj8ZU0/видео.html
I tried your warm-up exercises and I already feel a difference singing! I am going to practice everyday!
Thank you for this beneficial upload. I love it! More from you. Thank you. God bless ❤️
Thank you SOOO much. I've been using my chest voice too much and you've saved me from a habit that could've inflicted my singing permanently. You've saved my life, I love you !
I love doing all of your exercises. I actually have fun and laugh in the midst of it all. Brings me back to my Chorus class days. I'm trying to get my vocals back to what it used to be. Well better than it used to be.
Entiendo muy bien los ejercicios aún sin saber hablar inglés. Excelente explicación. Gracias
Gracias! Eso me hace feliz 🙏🏽
great combination between explanation and exercise. This really helped me with my mix. Thank you
I tried this and i think i just hit puberty...
Tállian Perez can we get an update
EUREKA!! Thanks Eric. I listened again after playing around and you have finally broken through.
"Through freedom comes the power". Amen brother. :)
Thank you so much bc I'm just getting ready to enter the music industry and I needed a vocal Coach and I really appreciate you taking the time to do these free videos
i wish you were my vocal teacher..
THANK YOU, this really helped me so much. Please never stop.
Do u have any tips to sing healthily and helpfully but quietly? I love singing around in the house but i live in an old apartment and its hard to get soundproof equipment. I think i end up straining my throat to sing quietly
i did that before and trust me it will ruin ur voice. im no expert but dont do that. not sure if its just me who's voice got ruined but istg dont do that
Wow. I rushed to check replies. This is also me.
When singing only apply as much pressure as you would to talk. When you’re about to sing, imagine you’re just going to talk. If it comes out flat and just feels uncomfortable then you need to do his warmup videos. Hope this helped!
I really like your teaching style. An excellent lesson on some very important basics. This lesson has helped me and I'm actually finding a little confidence in my voice now. TYSM.
I was singing the scale and my parents opened up my door asking if I had a stroke... It worked tho hahha :')
i am learning stuffs..thank you so much for sharing this...u are my teacher so far and you're good thou
I paid for vocal lessons for two months and learned nothing compared to this. You're really meant for this.
you are an absolute champion! thank you for doing this - its so good to see somebody sharing something they're so passionate about! your enthusiasm and good nature is contagious
shit.. it's really good.. but everyday my mom also gogogogo in my face with a real tempo .. she really angry on me..
It's really funny😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your so good at describing what and what not to do, all your tips in between are so helpful thank uou
I'm a female but I have to practise with the male range
I could never reach so high LOL
hab 2 believ
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You're an awesome teacher and very beautiful as well.
Lol, its like having personal vocal teacher with me ♡
same
Exactly, that's why I like it!
Thank you for being so patient and giving such great explanations.
this actually helped soo much, my voice is always too weak when I try to hit high notes
Thank You Eric working on the strength
Googogogogogoo...
Thank you so much for all these videos ! so good ! greetings from France
woow this is awesome. it's extremely helpful. what can one do if they require training but living in Africa
Natasha Machemedze they do Skype lessons online at AAaproach
Yeah there are plenty of vocal instructors on the continent. There are over 50 countries with plenty of professionals
Eric is one of the best singing coaches on RUclips. He shared many expertise with a ‘catch’, which is amazing considering everybody else is out here to get rich. Thanks Maestro Eric for the insightful instructions~~ xD
I'm 13 in the 8th grade and I'm a big choir nerd and I've went through the voice change last year and I've tended to lost my entire head voice and I'm hoping this method will help bring back my head voice and make it easier to switch into falsetto. I've just been waiting for a year hoping my high notes would come back so I'm a little more faithful now.
Marcus Majalca the same thing happened to me (I'm 14) and when I started this is I learned to use my head and I went nearly an octave higher in 3 months . I doubt all your notes will come back but most should
Marcus Majalca me too.. tat why I give up n stop.singing for 15years..
I'm actually starting voice over work and though you're exercises are for singing voices, I'm finding them useful to help stabilize my speaking voice. I've also found I sing HORRIBLY. LOL That's ok, it's why I'm doing VOA rather than singing. Thanks for sharing these videos. My voice needs the warm up as I step into my studio to record whatever new piece of copy I've found interesting.
u're an amazing teacher, all the mistakes i made u said in ur vid, like u were listening to me O_O wow...
Thank you for this video. I started struggling with high notes this year, and I am a freshman male in high school. When my teacher does high note warmups, I often crack. I think this video will make a staggering difference in my range!
Hey Eric,
thank you. Your videos are a part of my daily routine and help me tremendously. To all of you singers - DO THEM DAILY (warm-ups and other) I only started seeing progress after committing to every day work. No exceptions.
Back to you Eric ;)
I am writing to ask you where is part 2 of the video. The link is not working.
Thank you once again. You help me to grow as a singer more than anyone or anything else. Stay safe.
Mojo!
Omg not even messing I was never able to sing say you won't let go I did this with a guitar for only a month and I'm already able to sing it
Lilischoko12 Woaww Congrats
Love love love this thank you! I went to a vocalist for the longest time and i just felt like it wasnt doing much and she was explaining well i feel every different with how you do yours. i will deffinetly keep up with yours.
I think it's bit harder for guys because male singers in the charts have really high voices and most of us are bass/baritone, really helpful video though, thanks:)
Excellent Job...Thanks for sharing the lesson.
I thought Im singing but it turns out Im just screaming. Thanks for this vid mate
Eric, this video has helped me immensely with increasing my range. I cannot tell you how grateful I am I found this because had I not, I would be belting out my high notes. thanks a bunch!
Thank you, i like it and it works
You sir are an awesome vocal coach.
He looks like cinna from the hunger games
Dude! Well done. I've been looking for something like this and you are right on the money. Teachers tend to complicate things. You keep it simple and give a perfect example. I'm putting this to use right now! Thanks!!!
He's a bass-baritone. It just shows how high you can go with a well developed mix
omg i love this teacher soooooooo much, he clears up ALL CONFUSION! I LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well the same thing happened to me. I'm making a bunch of noise "googing" and my mom walks in,out of nowhere, and tells me i sound like a suffering whale with digestion problems.
thanks for your videos and the time you took to make them. I feel you made them simple enough to help a lot of us and well explained. great work.
Hey Eric, your videos have really helped me out in singing. However, I'm having the opposite problem from what you describe in the video, which was pushing to hard. I sing tenor 1 in my high schools men's choir, so I'm fairly familiar with my head voice. However, when I tried to go to this "mixed" voice, I simply fell into my falsetto. I'm having trouble not just jumping up into my head voice like I'm used to, and so far I've been unable to even feel the in-between voice your talking about.
How long before a gig should I do warm ups, & how long should I warm up? I love your technique, it really helps.
if i'm a guy and i find notes at 10 mins easy to hit, does it mean i'm doing something wrong?
Imagine 1st nah, I can do it too. we just have a wide vocal range
are you 12 or younger
Imagine 1st nah u just good
Great video Eric, I like that you went really low and really high to be all inclusive. Sometimes when you stopped and said 'Now don't do this xyzzy..' I was like DOH!!! Great corrections and advice throughout. Really love your channel!! Sincerely, -Singing in Nashville
Thanks, Amy!
If I can reach the higher and start pushing do I keep repeating the low notes ?
chillin'. waiting for him to come back down.
you rock man thank you
god damn that note where guys can hit when women come in, making me so mad i can reach it. I feel like just screaming so loud like a chick so i can let my chords free lol.
AWESOME GOD BLESSED YOU WITH A MIGHTY VOICE . AWESOME TUTOR.
When he said break it down I said rack it up after 😂😂
excuse me sir, do you have any idea how good of a teacher you are???
I DIIIID ITTTT
Awesome - you are great teacher
It's just chill baby. Keep on Googin...
awesome!!! i'am a 16 year old guy and i can reach a F5 and down to a E2, the exercises i do causes me to belt at F5 and strain at G5, but the Goog really help me to hit that F5 right on with no strain at all, your a really awesome teacher
Dude so good!!
James Pritchard too goog
I wish he was my voice trainer in real life! I'm a singer myself, but i always sing with my chest voice, people say i'm a good singer, but i've never had proper singing lessons. Now he's taught me alot! :) i can now mix around with my voice using head voice as well :) thankyou !!
just a question, good sir. is head voice the same as falsetto?
nevermind, I should've finished the video before asking 😐 thank you
Absolutely no. The falsetto releases a lot of air. Unlike head voice
