I was in the Air Force and permanently stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I was stopped and was threatened with a violation because I did not have a current Texas inspection sticker.
There was no inspection requirement in Colorado. The police commander and the attorney ruled that I was legal and my license plate was vailid because my permanent residence was Colorado at the time. I was never charged.
if you are active military you cant even be required to keep your state DL expiration up. How are you supposed to update your TX dl while stationed in CO? thats why these laws for active military exist.
Window tint is the absolute worst excuse for fascism.

So, cop sees the truck with no rear plate, driver informs officer that the vehicle has the one plate required, Cop can see the one plate required, Can the cop ask for license and registration? What happens when the driver declines? Can the Officer demand? Arrest for Obstruction/failure to ID?
I usually look up the equipment law for the state they're from. They are usually already violating their home state laws too. Looks great when documented on the ticket.
Common sense. If the car is registered in a state that only provides one plate then you cannot ticket for not having a second plate. Why is this even a question?
And what is it with the ARs in the background?
What about stopping vehicles for expired registration from other states? I ask because in Texas we have a 5 day grace period to start each month from the month prior.
If you get stopped for expired registeration you’re in the presence of a road pirate scumbag
Wondering if there is any case law on this. Regarding a stop being made and the stop being ruled no good If illegal activity is discovered. Just curious because I like to throw supportive case law in my reports.
I would think Heien v. North Carolina, 574 U.S. 54 (2014). I’m curious what our experts would think.
So I go into a state that that says max tint is 35 % and I'm from a state that actually allow 10% I have to take the tint off NEGATIVE the laws of the state the veh is registered in are the laws that need to be adhered too.
Tint stops are petty bullcrap.
Cali tickets me for my legal tint in Texas, they'll never get money from me... they can do whatever they want, but they'll get nothing from me...
Most states have shared databases and California may notify the Texas motor vehicle dept resulting in your license being suspended.
Probably not a good idea to claim “I am traveling” during the stop…
All of the states that only require one plate require the plate on the rear, not the front. I think you guys got this one totally wrong State laws in places like Georgia prohibit issuing more than 1 plate with the same number. So it is impossible for someone in Georgia driving through California to comply with California law. I think if a cop tickets someone from a 1 plate state for not having a front license plate, the case will be thrown out. Article IV of the constitution states: "Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State." Which implies that if my state only requires one plate to be legal, it is legal in every other state.
I think you make a good point. If it is legal in your home state, then you should be able to travel in other states without breaking the law. Kansas city is a great example of traveling to 2 states within one city. It is an issue that needs to be addressed.

In SC Tractor trailers and Dump Trucks etc do not need a rear plate only a front plate
This is why I won't drive my vehicle in California.

Your short conversation proves the legal bias between each of the state's laws that effect every citizen of our country. California's law on window tint is a gross violation of the ability to travel freely without being harassed. If i can freely move around many other states without being molested and i come up to California where I'm met with a law that forbids me to freely travel without making changes to myself or my property is a violation of my constitutional rights backed by my human rights giving to me at birth.
Wow, legal beagles confusing themselves. The “law” (statutes and codes) apply when the conveyance is engaged in commercial activity and when doing so, is to abide by the state “law” where registered. As for your tickets.... fill your ticket book up... beat ‘em all day long in any “jurisdiction” and NEVER even mention the “right to travel” and NEVER have a “trial”. Don't go to California, we had a fruit and nuts.Yes, your vehicle is registered and legal inspected in your state.You should have the right to drive anywhere in the united states
If the officer conducting the stop does not communicate the REASON for the stop, then there is no crime. No PC for the stop. Ergo, no duty to cooperate. You gave bad advice on this one.
