If you have to set an alarm to get up at a certain time, get a timer for a bedside lamp. Being awakened by light is gentler than being awakened by an alarm clock. If you are in deep sleep when the lamp comes on, it probably won't wake you up. So set an alarm clock to go off 10 minutes later. That, of course, will wake you up, but thanks to the lamp, you probably won't be in deep sleep when the alarm clock goes off.
@MissVasques .. The SLOWLY getting louder is very cool. Of course, a timer is way cheaper than an iPhone. I have a lamp on both sides of the bed. If I got a timer for the other lamp, I could set it for 10 minutes later and never set an alarm clock. I couldn't sleep through both lamps being on.
I use a lamp only with no audible alarm. I use a bright, daylight bulb (white light like the sun) on a floor lamp so it lights up my whole room. I have found that I feel much better waking up this way and after just a couple days, I began to wake up a couple minutes before the light would turn on
@Daniel Nicholls ..This sounds good too. No pun intended. I would especially like your method, if the artificial sunlight slowly got brighter. Of course, one could just leave the shades, blinds, or whatever up, if rising with the sun were your aim. The problem with that, though, is it's better to sleep in a pitch dark space, and the street lamps and other outdoor lights make that only possible with all blinds, curtains, etc. drawn. I actually use cardboard between the glass and the blinds cut to the exact size of the windows.

@@jesus3373 It's just better to not sleep when you take a power nap. He actually mentioned this in a recent video: ruclips.net/video/TsD4DFC_aqQ/видео.html
I go up at 06:00, work starts at 07:00, so if I slept 10h that would mean I'd have to go to bed at 8 in the evening????? Just doesn't work in real life. I typically sleep 6-7h, and yes I'm tired in the morning but what's the alternative? I refuse to only work and sleep. I need to live too.
I've slept thru my alarms. Many alarms. Without alarms, you'll be late for whatever you need to do. What about the times you sleep for only a few hours but mighr feel tired or not... Accord to this video you need to go to sleep sooner or later depending on sleep needs each night rather than waking up sooner or later in order to wake up same time each morning.
I think the idea is to go to sleep as early as possible and have free time in the morning instead of the evening. Unfortunately nothing will be open, nobody will be awake, and nothing will be on tv. Also they don’t mention this but it’s also bad to go to sleep at different times so you’ll never be awake in the evening again. Society is, in a lot of ways, designed to make healthy living as difficult as possible.
In my case, I must wake up with an alarm clock because my body tends to oversleep and end up in +10hrs of sleeping, then I wake up feeling sluggish. Edit: I tried the method that you suggested about waking up naturally for a week, thanks to that I've noticed that 9hrs is my sweet spot.
A tip for those just starting this that I'll be using Try to make a sleep schedule where you willl attempt to wake yourself up at 4 ish at least 3 hours before your actual alarm would go off. Set your alarm as a backup in case you really have soomething you can't oversleep for but try to set yourself up so that you'd be awake long before that
@@sunshinenOJ Define early hours? Our bodies are based on an internal clock that we ourselves can set, though the sun does have somthing to do with it it is possible. All I’m saying in this comment is go to bed super duper early so that your 8 hours of sleep will put you waking up at like 4 even if you would actually only need to wake up at 8 to make it to work. That way you wake up naturally and aren’t at any risk of missing work and can still have the alarm as a backup
The 7-9 hour recommendation is indeed a rough guideline. I'm pretty physically active (construction in south texas; lots of sweating), and I function with no problems on 5 and a half hours, regularly waking up a few minutes before my alarm.
I absolutely LOVE the slide where you said “sleep is more important for health than diet or exercise”. That is absolutely true. I cringe or look with disdain on people who are so proud that they crush 5 am workouts or whatever, not realizing you will be leaner, stronger, and more focused from just sleeping more. I’ll take my 7.5 hours over 7 hours plus a workout. Sleep determines our food choices and also the quality of our training.
How is waking up at 5 am related to getting enough sleep in anyway? As long as they go to bed early, some people are more productive early in the morning.
Thank you! Thank you! I have been concerned. Since I retired I am sleeping 11-12 hrs. When I worked it was 7 and I was always tired, and know I get it.
I'm at a stage in my life where I'm doing my best to prioritize getting adequate rest, I notice that whenever my alarm wakes me up, I am in a highly irritable mood but whenever I can wake up naturally (usually when I don't have to work) I am in a rather good mood and ready to take on the day, thanks for plugging in that app, I'm going to test it out
Ang galing ng content creator na yt channel na to. Kung ganyan ang kayang abutin ng isip nya habang kiniclaim nyang he's getting good quality sleep every night, then i better believe him.
I work on a 4 days on, 3 days off basis. 12 hours. I sleep at 11pm at night, wakes up at 2am to get ready for work at 4am. After my first delivery ends at 5am, I sleep again in my truck at 6am, and wakes up at 8am. And the cycle continues. On weekends, I sleep without alarms.
Sometimes I have the feeling that no matter how long I sleep, I do not feel any more awake. E.g. if on the weekend I wake up naturally after 9 hours, I still feel tired and then I go back to sleep for two more hours, I do not feel any more awake than before. Actually, it feels like I am getting tired again if I stay in bed and only get awake by getting up and doing something.
You can do it, but it requires a ton of work on managing your circadian rhythm. You also probably should use an alarm clock as a back up at the last moment you can wake up.
If you go to sleep early enough you wake up early too, without alarm clock. But I at least just watch youtube way too late often and use alarm in case I dont wake up

I once slept for 27 hours straight, after 2 nights of no sleep at all. It was funny; I woke up fully well rested, looked at the clock and thought: Oh boy, that was just 3 hours! How amazing! After a while I looked at the date, and was like: "there it is: a day I'll never get back. And now I know why my back and neck hurt so much" kkkkk
Too many people in society are Greedy for money. They will push themselves to work overtime or more than one job in order to get the latest iphone, BMW or any other status symbol.
You don’t know if it is for greed or not. It could also be to make ends meet and to make enough to support themselves and their family. It could also be to set themselves up for a better future if they work hard and save. But I see your point
i feel good when I sleep 8 hours. Couple of years ago I slept between 10-11 hours and after that, I felt again sleepy :D so to summarize from my experience: 7-8 hours is enough.
You missed 1 very important thing; routine. I didn't set an alarm for months, but most of the time I'm still tired when waking up. Here is where routine comes in. If you wake up around the same time everyday, you'll feel more rested. (But still waking up naturally)
Teachers:wake up early, go to school, and do work, go home and do so much homework to where you can’t sleep. Also teachers:Get a good 7-9 hours of sleep every night!
''Try waking up without an alarm for one week'' yeah ill try that definetly, its not like my entire income depends on it or anything else super important like that
Waking up naturally seems to be the biggest factor in my sleep. Some nights ill sleep 9 hours but still want more, then even like last night, i slept for 5, but because i woke up naturally via sunlight, i was way more prepared for the day. I think its time to keep my blinds up.
I have to be up by a certain time each day to make it to class on time. I use my phone alarm, but I have it set to a gentle song from my playlist. And, I have it set so that the song starts off at a very low volume and gradually get louder. I found this to be a much better alternative to a screeching, beeping, heart attack inducing traditional alarm!
Everything you said is true but trust me if any of us could wake up without an alarm we would not do it society requires it school work whatever it is you basically don’t have a choice
There's reasons why that happens. Sometimes insomnia causes people to wake early and sometimes it's because you wake mid sleep cycle. I'm in the same basic boat where I always feel groggy for a few hours after waking up unless I do something to get my body temperature and heart rate up. Later in the day tends to be a better time for me to evaluate my sleep.
This is all true... but I work in two shifts cycling every week. First from 06:00- 14:50 and from 14:50 - 11:20. In the early shift I can go to bed at 8 or 9 pm and feel really good when I wake up. And I could do it without a alarm clock. But them comes my night shift and I have to cange my sleep cycle again. And here I go to sleep about 1 am in the morning. So I can't stand up at 4:45 I have to sleep more. And I have two kids so I always have to determine that I have a little less sleep. Thats why I go to bed in my morning shift so early. This is all really complicated if you have family, working in shifts and maybe have a hobby that you want to go after. But anyways this video was very great and informative. :)
I am in a med college and i usually sleep for 6 hours everyday... yesterday i slept for 9 hours, however i was interapted by an alarm in the midst... today ..it was hard to focus and it was the most unproductive day of my week...
Hi there I've just discovered your channel. I like it. Thanks for making these videos. I actually always wake up before the alarm. Why is that? Thanks 🙏🏼
I'm afraid of alarm clocks! I think I'm in the middle of an air raid! So, I stopped using any alarms to wake up! I haven't since I was young. I'm 29 now.
They make alarm clocks not that start with a sound - such as gentle rain - and gradually the volume will increase so that you are woken up in an easy manner. Some alarm clocks are way too abrupt and I don't believe they are a good way to wake up - waking up is important and being awoken in an abrupt manner is not good.
Another really interesting video. I love waking up early, yet I do feel sluggish some mornings because I don’t go to bed/sleep early enough, this is something that I’m going to address, easily, by turning off my telephone so people can’t contact me late at night, although it maybe early in their country. Also, I do find myself feeling very tired and falling asleep mid to late afternoon, I will go to bed for about two or three hours sometimes, and at the same time I forfeit my exercise regime to the detriment of thus, but my body is telling me I need to sleep. I do find myself constantly falling asleep in the evenings whilst watching television, of course, this should be a natural indicator, that it’s time for me to go to bed. Therefore, I’m going to give this a good bash and try and conquer this issue, go to bed when I feel tired, turn off my mobile telephone, and my alarm clock, and wake up when my body wants to wake up. I’m hopeful that this will help :-) Much thanks once again for a very engaging, informative, and interesting video :-) much thanks 😊 🙏
I have a question. You said you recommend us to wake up without an alarm for a week so that we know our sleep cycle, right? Thanks for sharing the knowledge with us. I heard some people say to go to bed only when you're tired. My question for you is, when should I go to bed? Thank you! By the way, I'm new to your channel and I've already subscribed you.
You should set your sleep pattern in a way that supports your daily schedule. There are plenty of ways to manipulate it and I already made a video on it. When should you go to bed is up to you. But try to find out what your sleep chronotype is. Some people function best in the morning. While others are what we call "night owls" and they are in their most optimal state late at night. There is no right or wrong time to go to bed, I did however come over a research that says that the most optimal hormonal release happens in the hours between 10 to 12 at night. Good luck!
For almost all of this year, I have only slept every other night. Just can’t sleep well trying to do it once a day. But on the every other day schedule, I go down hard and sleep for about 11-12 hours.
Nice to not have a job or family obligations! Where you don't need to adhere to a set time and as any parent knows, going to sleep AFTER the kids and everything else around the house are taken care of. To quote from the movie "Road House"... "I'll get all the sleep I need when I'm dead".
My problems are: 1. I stay for long (its almost 2AM when im watching this) 2. when i wake up, i can sometimes lay in bed for even 3 hours cause im too tired after sleeping ok i sleep now xd
I sleep 24h now and feeling better than ever. thanks

Find a job that suits your sleep.
The majority of humans are in the same boat mate :/
I want time for myself, but that is sacrificing my sleep :/
Imagine sleeping like a normal individual
I got an ad about how much sleep to have before the video 😂

@@ninjadeathoverlord3254 why do you say unfortunatly?? Its a blessing you can really get things done during that time!
True, I actually like it that way for the most part. It is inconvenient at times though.

Sleep is a paid actor against the alarm clock industry
Great video, as you say, sleep will help the brain functions more efficiently. Not just how long you sleep, but also quality of sleep
To summarise:
Wake up without an alarm.
Thanks😂😂
I really don't get why we needed an 8-minute video for that lol ;)
@@madlad255 Haha 😂 Yeahh
A tip for those just starting this that I'll be using
Try to make a sleep schedule where you willl attempt to wake yourself up at 4 ish at least 3 hours before your actual alarm would go off.
Set your alarm as a backup in case you really have soomething you can't oversleep for but try to set yourself up so that you'd be awake long before that
Who said this tip? I read that your best sleep is in the early hours, so you don't want to disturb yourself then.
I personally like to have eight hours of sleep a day otherwise I feel like a zombie.
The 7-9 hour recommendation is indeed a rough guideline. I'm pretty physically active (construction in south texas; lots of sweating), and I function with no problems on 5 and a half hours, regularly waking up a few minutes before my alarm.
Me: Decides on a random day to go to bed early so that my body gets enough sleep.
My Body: No, I dont think I will
Your voice is really soothing and Driving every point home.... not unnecessarily loud or dominated with music. .. thank you for the balance !
@@radmoonable Exactly.
I know people who go to sleep by 9 pm and wake up at 5 am
Thank you! Thank you! I have been concerned. Since I retired I am sleeping 11-12 hrs. When I worked it was 7 and I was always tired, and know I get it.
Just slept for roughly 10 hours today, woke up and this vid is in my recommendation list
Sleep patterns helped me tremendously. Getting ready to go to bed at 22.00 pm and sleeping at 23.00. Also getting up at 06.30 am everyday.
“Now I urge you to wake up without any kind of alarm for at least one week”

Once I thought to sleep without alarm, I wocked up in evening by my mom.

You might have sleep apnea our some other sleeping disorder.
"Wake up without an alarm clock" You know a lot of us have places to go, school or work, etc and most of us need to get there on time
When I was still working I had a coffee maker on a timer, so the smell of coffee used to wake me up at the time I needed to get up.
If I went without an alarm, I would wake up 4 hours after I was needed for school...
No Clock? Nice if you don't go to school or have to work and if you can sleep as long as you want perfect. BUT THIS IS UNREAL WTF
You could do it in quarantine I guess
You can do it, but it requires a ton of work on managing your circadian rhythm. You also probably should use an alarm clock as a back up at the last moment you can wake up.
Chris L yes, I agree
If you go to sleep early enough you wake up early too, without alarm clock. But I at least just watch youtube way too late often and use alarm in case I dont wake up
Peppe I'm a person who reads novels late into the night...and then because I'm forced to go to bed, I lay wondering about it then sneak out of bed and read more then go back to sleep...or I watch RUclips..my mom is my alarm clock now because no alarm works on me lmao
I don't know what's wrong with me but I sleep 5 hours or less in night, without any afternoon naps. 😐
I don't remember a day when I feeling like to sleep. Each night I listen boring lectures, sleep inducing music etc to push myself into sleep.. But mornings are really really drowsy and lethargic.
Test for sleep apnea in case
I wake up before alarmclock... and wait for it. :D
Thank you for making me better than yesterday.
If I let my body decide how much sleep I need, it will be like:
Day 1: 8h
Day 2: 8.5h
Day 3: 9h
Day 7: 15h
Sorry, I have to limit it to 8 only.
I don't know why I'm so weird, but if I don't use an alarm I will sleep FOREVER. Like 12 hours or more...
It’s not weird. I don’t know you obviously but I think if you didn’t use an alarm for a week or two you’d start sleeping less. Sleep debt is a thing.
"Sleep without alarm for 1week" Dude I have a job. I have to be there 5days in a week at 7am. You really telling me just to go sleep without an alarm every day and hoping for the best??
there is a solution called "go to bed earlier"
Customer Support There is also a thing called ”sleeping more than you expected” and a thing called ”not falling asleep immedietly you hit the bed”. Of course i try to get sleep early as i can. If i wanted my proper sleep which is usually 10 hours, i should be sleeping at 7:30pm. I just can’t do it. And if i could i still woudln’t take the risk i sleep too long. I see your a kid who doesn’t understand how important having a job is.
@@roinatan9993 yep
people always say it's your phone that's the problem
but really it's that we don't want our lives to only be work and sleep
cause if you went to sleep at 7:30pm every day, sure, you would be able to have dinner. but absolutely no free time
Regex exactly. plus i would be almost impossible to fall asleep that early
You can always just try going to bed earlier and setting an alarm as an emergency fail safe *or* you can complain and do nothing. Your choice.
I once slept for 27 hours straight, after 2 nights of no sleep at all.
It was funny; I woke up fully well rested, looked at the clock and thought:
Oh boy, that was just 3 hours!
Yes, you're right caring for a lot of money and a better life affect our sleep and comfort too.
Maybe u jus lazy
You don’t know if it is for greed or not. It could also be to make ends meet and to make enough to support themselves and their family. It could also be to set themselves up for a better future if they work hard and save. But I see your point
i feel good when I sleep 8 hours. Couple of years ago I slept between 10-11 hours and after that, I felt again sleepy :D so to summarize from my experience: 7-8 hours is enough.
I tend to feel more "sluggish" when I sleep >9h and more energetic when I only sleep 6 or 5...
If you're spending that much time as a teacher then you shouldn't be teaching.
Brilliant. Thanks for the upload.
Video: “ wake up without an alarm clock ” *me waking up the next day missing my first 2 classes* 🙃🙃🙃🙃
Thanks for all your trying it has many benifit and reveal all the fact about sleeping value and its significant
This video helped me, thanks.
''Try waking up without an alarm for one week''
yeah ill try that definetly, its not like my entire income depends on it or anything else super important like that
I sleep 5 hrs a day and feel great I just power naps through out the day
Try to sleep like 8hrs for a week and you will feel the difference
Waking up naturally seems to be the biggest factor in my sleep. Some nights ill sleep 9 hours but still want more, then even like last night, i slept for 5, but because i woke up naturally via sunlight, i was way more prepared for the day.
I think its time to keep my blinds up.
When I'm doing this, I sleep 18 hours and my schedule is always completely destroyed :D
Since its the lockdown phase with colleges still closed so I'll give it a shot!
Everything you said is true but trust me if any of us could wake up without an alarm we would not do it society requires it school work whatever it is you basically don’t have a choice
Thanks , it was useful for me
It's funny that even without using an alarm clock, I never feel 100% rested.
Man, I hate it when I haven't slept and I get that symptom of "feeling tired." Interrupts my RUclips binging.
4:25 That's what you probably came for.
Will try for sure. Thank you so much for the useful advice :)

Discover Your Awesomeness what does that mean
I am in a med college and i usually sleep for 6 hours everyday... yesterday i slept for 9 hours, however i was interapted by an alarm in the midst... today ..it was hard to focus and it was the most unproductive day of my week...
just the video i needed
Hi there
I've just discovered your channel.
You should definitely use sleep cycle. It will wake you up when you are in light phase of sleep
I’m hopeful that this will help :-)
Much thanks once again for a very engaging, informative, and interesting video :-) much thanks 😊 🙏
Good luck!
@@BetterThanYesterday Okay. Thanks. Do you go to sleep when you feel tired?
Yes I do. Every day I go to sleep at pretty much the same hour, so I also start to feel tired at that time. Usually between 10-11pm.
