It's Lois here today, join me for a simple impressionistic MISTY SUNSET evening landscape painting. It is a really simple landscape that was so much fun to paint, especially as I am testing out an exciting new colour for me, Cotman Turquoise for the 2nd time, this time adding Light Red to my palette. Using the wet in wet method and a limited palette of turquoise, light red, burnt sienna, sepia and indigo, watch me experiment with this misty evening over the fields. It is from my imagination, but also inspired by lots of different misty landscape photos I looked at on Pixabay before painting. I add salt into the damp foreground washes for lovely flower effects.
You can paint some really wonderful landscapes by just letting the paint and water flow together and seeing what happens. The trick is to look for any opportunities to turn particular marks into landscape features, and learn to exploit those opportunities to the full. This can take a bit of practice, but it is a wonderful way to loosen up, take the pressure off yourself and have fun! Watch the first turquoise experiment here: • Lois' Simple MISTY FIE... Materials below:
Materials: Arches 140lb/300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper, 11" by 15"/28cms x 38cms. It is taped to my board and my board is at an angle of about 45 degrees, or flat, or I can tip and tilt it to get the water to flow. I use ordinary fine table salt for effects and a water mister spray. I use various brushes as shown in the demo, but use any similar ones you have.

bummer that you didn't show when you sprinkled the salt given how critical the timing is.

@@deborahdana3057 salt timing is different in every studio, it’s important to experiment with timing yourself. My timing won’t be the same as yours 😀
