- Straight Edges Crochet Hack
Are you tired of your crochet projects looking warped? Using a foundations turning chain will fix your problems. I’m going to teach you how to crochet straight edges every time. This stitch works great for double crochet stitches or bigger.
*Most people use chain 3 as their turning chain, and the crochet project will come out looking “spacey”.
*Another option is to chain 2 stitches and double crochet back into the same stitch. This might eliminate the gap, but unfortunately is will leave your crochet edges looking lumpy.
With this crochet hack, you will learn how to crochet straight edges perfectly every time. If you are looking for more crochet tips and tricks

I have a question. Do you do the same thing at the end of the tow before you turn? Like would the last stitch in the row be the stacked singles? I'm learning a lot and appreciate all that you do! Thank you 💘
I love how close you hold the yarn and hook to the camera and how you point to individual strands. That's really helpful and what a lot of other tutorial videos lack.
Awesome. ❤
Hi this is great, I always thought there was something wrong with my crochet til I found this. Where is the one for HDC please, I can’t find it on your playlists
Looking for straight edges for HDC
I’ve been crocheting for 50 years and never thought of trying to figure out how to create such a smooth finish to the sides. Awesome technique! Thank you! 💗
Thank you for sharing.
I feel exactly the same way 💖
Same @nylorij
I've tried other methods for straight edges. Sometimes it didn't matter bcuz I was putting on a border. But I'm going to try this next time I make a scarf or something. Thx for sharing😍
Amen! 45 yrs for me!
I've been crocheting since the mid 1940's, and have crocheted everything. I didn't know this. I've crocheted with fine thread and a 14 hook, and I've crocheted with worsted for afghans. This old dog learned a new trick. Thank you.
And they say u can't teach an old dog new tricks.
yep, me too
I love that!
Old dog???
Could not have said it better myself.
Jaw drop. In 40+ years of crocheting, this is completely NEW to me. You are a GENIUS!! Thank you!
Wonderful video! You got straight to it with no blah blah blah and gave us very clear instructions about what to do. Thanks so much.
Yep. Miss Littlejohn is one of my favorites bc she teaches about crocheting and does a superb job. And she doesn't blab mindlessly, or tell us about all her ills or problems, or vacations, or family members, or let her pets or kids interrupt her, or apologize for things that shouldn't have happened in the first place, bc they don't happen at all.❤
I personally like the NO Blah, Blah!!!
Great tip: Thanks a lot . 0:34 is the most repeated because your fingers almost cover the stitch we must go into making it hard to see. Remember: When you are a beginner one of the hardest things to "get" is what each stitch looks like and where to put the hook.
You are so talented. Not just in crochet skills but most importantly as a crochet teacher! Thank you for making these tutorials.
If you want to use this method for a HDC, after the first SC do a Slip Stitch instead of the second SC.
Another great tip!
Oh boy, this is a game-changer! Thank you so much for showing us this!
Glad I could help 😸
H
This is amazing! Thank you for sharing your crochet hack!!! Love this!
Oh nice thank you 😊
So that's what they mean by a stacked or chainless turn for straight edges - TY!!!
You're welcome!
I watched this tutorial a few weeks back, and I've been using this method ever since. I can't thank you enough for showing us how to do (FINALLY LOL) straight edges. It seemed no matter what I tried I still had gappy, lumpy edges. NOW my work looks so much better. Thank you thank you thank you. 😁😁👏👏👍👍
I thought it was just me who had the wonky edges, no matter how straight I try to get them!
As a beginner, this is the BEST explanation and instruction I've seen! THANK YOU!! ❤
This is so good! Ive learned to accept the bumpy edges but I'm glad I stumbled upon this top! Thank you 😍
How can anyone happy to advance in crochet techniques NOT like this video???
Like what?!
This is a game changer! Thank you so much for sharing this with the crochet 🧶 community!
О боже!!! Где же вы были раньше... Спасибо огромное!!!🥰🥰🥰
this is the best thing I found! There are so many tutorials about this, but this is like this is real. This is the real deal! This is the only technique I’ll be using from now on to straighten my edges. Thank you so much for sharing this info!!!

Unless the pattern is “lacy”, I NEVER “chain 3 (counts as DC)”. I always chained one turning & then a standing double & it helps. But THIS is freaking BRILLIANT! Thanks SO much & SO glad I stopped to see if I could do my brother’s birthday scarf a bit better!😀
I've been crocheting for 20 years and this is the best hack I've seen to date!!! Amazing!!
I've only been crocheting for a couple of years, but in 90 seconds you've improved the quality of most things I'll ever make moving forward. Thank you!
