    Beautiful. One of the nicest road boxes I’ve seen!!! ‘One’ thing you missed was caster plates. To prevent ripping out the bottom of the road box when a caster gets ripped off (happens more than you’d think) the casters are attached to a “plate” ( usually 3/4” plywood) and the plate is screwed the road box (often times with fine thread drywall screws- aka the weak link)

    • @JackmanWorks
      @JackmanWorks  Год назад +1

      The thick boards were resawn down to 1/2" thick, but some of those boards weren't quite thick enough to get two 1/2" thick pieces, so anything that ended up thinner than 1/2" was glued together to give me thicker pieces that I could then plane down to 1/2" to go with the rest.

    Mhm, I like the idea of using/making your own "plywood".
    I hit up the local farm auctions as often as I can for wood that's been stored in someone's barn or shed for anywhere from last autumn to a hundred years ago. The quality can vary quite a bit (i.e someone stripping an old barn ruin and not being able to sell the resulting termite mound - though it didn't stop them from trying) but the preview sorts out what's usable or not worth my time pretty quick.
    Strangely enough, the prices that wood goes for at auction is totally dependent on the auctioneer. I can't bring myself to bid at some of my old staple auction houses since post-COVID since they've became more widely known via their online sales - so many bidders with no knowledge of market prices that the bids sometimes top box store prices. Bizarre.
    I find that live auctions - even if there're huge crowds tend to have the better lumber prices - probably because people bid with the cash they have on hand rather than their whole bank balance.

    Love this channel, but it doesn't get the views it deserves. Suggestions:
    1) Do a short maybe 3 min video with the key moments, in addition to the main longer video, the former having a link to the latter. Way too many people have the attention span of a goldfish.
    2) Need more good time shots of final products. For example this video needed a 10 second clip of an actual party with drinks being delivered. Good times.
