I hate hockey! 🏒 ☝🏼😡
I hate poutine... just kidding.... man it felt wrong even joking about that.
If you didn't before, you definitely do after this!
You make all of Canada cry with that statement.
Is that because you're not a real Canadian? 😄🍁
@@jayhitek ive been told by canadians that even they deny the toronto maple leafs are a real team
Well of course Jimmy Diresta was ref. Who else? ❤❤❤
Him as ref was perfect, but I shouldn't have given him a whistle. Hindsight 20/20 😂
"This Diresta Guy just wants his name everywhere, I guess"
haha I was wondering if that joke was too subtle when I wrote it
It was perfect.
I enjoyed every second of this. You're amazing.
Oh man. On the planer shot at 1:23 I wonder how it would look if you punch in 10% or so and add a digital pan to the right. Might look like the planer is stationary and it's pushing you and the shop to the right. Sounds like a fun Instagram post :) I'll finish watching the rest of it now.
So much fun. You're living the good life.
I'm not local but Google maps tells me it's only a 12 hour drive to bolster your defence.
We'll definitely need it if we put Pat in the net again!
This was an epic story, well worth waiting for. The bulding of the sticks was cool enough, and then you played a Totally Real hockey game with them. A superb job all around, and lucky for you to have friends who will take a hit for (or from) you. In true Jackman style, going the extra 10 miles for the bit. 😂 Super fun and thanks for sharing!
I told Graz I didn't want to hurt him, but he told me to go as hard as I want haha. We definitely fight in a different weight class!
@@JackmanWorks I just hope Pat forgives you for the "You're not a real Canadian!" jab. That one stung a bit. 😁
This is awesome! I never thought to try making wood sticks before. As a not great woodworker or hockey player, this will definitely end up in the list of projects I hope to do one day, but probably won't 😆
Epic Paul! "wants his name on everything" so good.
I was way to happy with that line when I was writing the script 😂
@@JackmanWorks The script was truely a masterpiece. Especially the sports commentator bits. Jim Jimerson and Jim Jimman 🤣😂
Almost spit coffee all over my desk at that a-hole joke. Brilliant execution.
I don't know why that's funny, I was simply talking about the hole that you find in the letter A...
You miss 100% of the touchdowns you don't throw. - Tom Brady
TF did I just watch? Never know what to expect
You just watched the best RUclips video ever made and ever will be made
Best RUclips video I’ve seen in a while. Halfway expected to see Diresta spray painted on the ice though.
You know what, I'm surprised he didn't!! ha!
The most EPIC hockey game ever! 🏒
Such a good time!! Thanks to everyone at TotalBoat and/or from the TB family who participated!
@@JackmanWorks 💙💙💙
It looks more professional than a lot of official sports
I might pivot from a woodworking channel to a hockey channel, I think it's my calling
That was a ton of fun! The failure analysis of the sticks was interesting to see. I look forward to improvements for next year.
Definitely not the last time, I'd love to hand make carbon fiber sticks too, but we'll see if I can figure that out without the fancy industrial machinery that they use to make those.
Ive never played ice hockey but arent You supposed to hit the puck, not the ice
This is a really good question, you actually want to hit about 6 inches behind the puck because it loads up the stick with tension, so by the time it reaches the puck it releases that tension and springs the puck off of it and gives you a lot more force in your shot.
@Jackman Works that's quite cool. Are you guys doing a second season for netflix?😂
This is GOLD! Been waiting for this video to drop since day 1 of the project!
Thanks so much!!
Awesome video. Puts my hockey stick build video to shame. 😂😂
Thanks Mat! We're taking over the RUclips hockey stick market!!
pat's goaltending and the isotunes moment of the game! love all of this soo much paul! haha
Maybe you could make a stick out of recycled skateboards, Andrew?
Aren't you supposed to wipe front to back for dust removal?
I'm surprised you wouldn't wipe with a CNC bidet instead
Hockey player/ woodworker myself here this is a riot. I run an annual tournament here in Ohio called the Woody classic ( as the name implies all wood sticks) First year we had the tournament I bought 2x12s from home depot as a joke and cut the sticks and belt sanded in the curve..... They didn't even last through warmups Was it difficult to do the fiberglass method? have tempted to make a proper stick this year.
Finnish-made Montreal hockey stick! Respect!
That thing was a solid stick before I switched to composite!
Awesome video man! That was a ton of fun!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, Jim
Thanks Jim, now back to Jim in the studio, Jim
Well done, as always!
Thanks so much Tony!!
Always love when Pallet Jack makes stuff in his Pallet Shack!
I'll never run out of pallet projects, the same way I'll never run out of pallets!
So the next bat challenge would be to build a cricket bat!
Great sticks and on heck of a game, Paul. We expect nothing less.
Bill
Lord Stanley would be proud.
I sure hope so, I definitely earned that little cup haha
You kow when you had low if any expectations and you still ended up disappointed ? Well, this, THIS! is the complete opposite. THANK YOU 🤩
haha that's awesome!!
Combining my two favorite things in life! Woodworking and hockey!
I'm a maker, but not on youtube. Would love to be your right-winger and police the ice a la Probert.
Yes! We always need a grinder haha
Awesome video. Shop project, humor, instruction, humor, tool review, humor HOCKEY, humor, a wrap up. And oh did i mention Humor. Keep up the great work. 👽
Thanks so much for all the love! Gotta make woodworking fun!!
The walking planer killed me. LOL
Work smarter... 🤓
Really good and fun video. Can't believe the amount of work to make a stick!
Love your editing 😊
Graz and Pat still better than me at hockey.
your dust removal technique is 🔥!!!
Don't lie, you know you're going to try that now next time you mill up some skateboards!
@Jackman Works haha i can imagine the splinters now :S
This might be one of your best videos yet, Paul!
In addition to showing your craftsmanship as a woodworker, I really also enjoyed the videography, editing. Oh, and it was just really funny: you had me laughing out loud several times!
Fantastic video. The Making Fun team camaraderie is still strong.
I hate everyone involved. Especially that Graz guy.
@@GrazMakes I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the rattle of you against the boards
@@kevlarmenace 😂😂
No way that’s exactly how I remove the dust too! 😂
I'm just glad I'm not the only one, then I'd look like a wierdo
Most excellent! I'll take a lefty round toe open face with a 5-6 lie. I'll bust it on my own.
haha! Thanks :)
I always love your edits. So entertaining!
Awesome work - the amount of work you put into these videos are astonishing.
Thanks so much!! Wish I could justify doing this every time!
LOVE IT!
Thanks man!!
Nice game, Paul! And it’s a nice touch, honoring Gordie wearing his #9!
Yes!! Go wings!
Excellent work!! I would pay to attend that hockey game. Go sports!
Greatest hockey game of the playoff season yet!!!
Even in the finals we won't get to see a game as competitive as this!!
Most memorable and entertaining for me
Jackman: Can make 10 or 1 thing. or make 1 thing 10x the size.
You're definitely not wrong. Even if I don't start with that intention, it somehow always ends up that way in the end.
Two of my favorite things in the world; woodworking and ice hockey! Let me know if there's a re-match. I'll come down with my gear!
Yessss!! We're doing it again, I mentioned it somewhere in the 35min long outro haha. Send me an email and I'll get you on the list, it's going to be an annual maker hockey game for real!
@@JackmanWorks email sent!
8:29 ok what is this a mini paint scraper? That looks super handy!
That's actually from Rockler amzn.to/3LTC8MS
It's my favorite because of it's small size and the springiness of the handle
I suspect your technique to dust the laminates may introduce other contaminants. 😂
Graz gets laid out by the fourth Hanson Brother.
Something I hadn't considered. haha!
Graz is for me what "Buster" was for the Mythbusters
@@JackmanWorksat least he is tall enough to ride rollercoaster when he has his skates on.
Thats so awesome man. Great video and amazing work!
Thanks a ton!
Great work! You are very talented. Do you mind sharing with me what kind of fiberglass you use? I’m learning how to repair hockey sticks and trying to figure out the right fiberglass to use as a finish texture grip on blades and it looks as though what you use would be perfect.
Would love to play with you guys and I'm just up the road in the Metro West. But I haven't played since high school 30 years ago.. and only still own skates and gloves. I'd probably puke after 5 mins of being out there.
they could have used you on the bruins jackman
Put me in net! At least I'd stay in the net and not try to play the puck lol
The "Idiocracy" moments of the video are amazing! Big thumbs up from me Mr Jackman!!
I have a question. Judging by what you learned of how the different species respond when playing, if you were to do it again would alternate the wood species in a way to get the response you were aiming for, such as flex, stiffness etc?
Great fun. No other maker commits to a bit like you! I’m pretty sure my love of bringing a silly idea to life must be partially inspired by your work.
Did you made any lefthanded sticks? I played left handed as a kid...
I did! 5 out of the 18 sticks were lefties for the handful of lefties we had playing
Definitely enjoyed this video. I'm a maker who plays goalie, and would love an opportunity to play hockey with other makers. I may have to try making my own goalie sticks from now on😂
Nice work as always.
forget the a-hole, take care of your baby maker and use a rag to wipe off the dust. I loved watching the hockey game. bad boy box, bad boy box - that's what I yell when there are fights in hockey. go to the bad boy box.
I want one of those jerseys!
Thanks man!! I actually have them up in my store, you can even get it custom with your name on the back if you want bit.ly/3LMfwOb
Go 🐯
mfs are hilarious, this is very entertaining
Thanks!! I found a good team
Haha That was epic! So many great funny moments. 😂😂
If I removed the dust that way i would have to wait for the moisture content to return to normal before proceeding 😅
This makes me want to play with fiberglass for walking sticks.
Great video, Paul! I like the maker/hockey combination.
Awesome stuff Paul! 😃👍🏻🏒👊🏻
👍👍👍💪
Love the Vid- One day I will try to make my own stick
Flipping heck, how long did this video take to make? Excellent work, and great edit!
Well, it was a little over a week just to edit, not even including doing the whole build haha
This was incredible, been waiting for this one and and it exceeded expectations. The making of the sticks was nuts and they are all beautiful… nobody makes videos like you🙌🏻 The game was awesome and funny and then the recap about the different sticks was really interesting. 🏒
Glad you enjoyed this one so much! It was a massive amount of work but I think the payoff was worth it with that game at the end
I wouldn't be upset if one showed up in my mailbox
That dust removal process looks fun
Good sticks, man! Supa cool 👍👍👍
Love your videos and the detail you put in your work !!
Thanks so much Eric!!
@@JackmanWorks Can't wait to see the next one
pat lap is the most old-time-hockey name ever
Was in Lowes the other day and wandered down the lumber isle. thought "oh I haven't seen a Jackman video in a bit" and then saw that they're selling "reclaimed lumber butcher block" cheaper by the board foot than actual lumber... We're on the right path here Paul. saving the planet, one piece of gahbage at a time....kinda...sorta...depends on who you ask...
I'm just glad that the lumber aisle at Lowes makes you think of me haha. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for reclaimed butcherblock, could save me some time from all these pallets, but there's too much garbage that needs our attention!
Incredible concept and execution an merch! As a hockey player myself, this video was one I was looking forward to after seeing the teases on your social medias.
Love the sticks and the game! Fantastic work.
How much for one of the broken sticks? I'd love to hang one up in my office.
The effort put into setting up a *semi legit* hockey game like this is certainly appreciated! MVP Jackman, you absolutely killed this video!
Holding the wood and letting the planer roll the cart was a real power move. Your videos are a big part of why I started woodworking. A few years and several thousand dollars later, my wife isn't your biggest fan. Weird.
❤❤❤ Best video ever. A ton of work! #grazmatters.
OK, but the next time you do this sell tickets.
You have access to some super pallets or something. Every pallet I’ve ever seen is the absolute worst wood they can use, and barely ever hold up to a single use, let alone those bulky ass things you get. I love what you make, but it isn’t very realistic.
Not unrealistic, you just need to know where to look. At least in the US, hardwood pallets are plentiful, I have more than I can possibly ever use. However, if you live outside the US, things are definitely different depending on the country.
At the end of the day, at the end of the video,
I just have one question.
Is it North or South Carolina?
North Carolina.... BUT they're located in Pennsylvania.
They started in North Carolina though, way back, so it makes sense haha
jimmy direfsta
I missed you.💖
Fun video!
Loved this.
WOW! AMAZING!
Great video
Nice one! ;)
Where did you get that roller attachment for the tite-bond bottle?
Rockler! It’s the best!! www.rockler.com/shop?w=Glue+roller+
You should make something out of the pulled nails. A knife or axe for example. Great video!
I actually save all the nails!! I have a big bucket of them that I’ll make into something someday
@@JackmanWorks Great! Can't wait.
When are they going to switch over to type-c charging port
Assuming you're talking about ISOtunes, their FREE line-up and the new Ultra Com have USB-C, not sure why they haven't done that on the rest of them yet (especially the muffs since there's plenty of space for it) but I'm assuming there's a reason behind that.
You make me want to buy boots and play hockey.
Good! Both of things are good for your life.
Shaft
Must be nice to have money...
It's quite nice actually, so luxurious that I was able to splurge on really fancy wood for this project
