Nice board bro! It seems to have definitely improved your skill set, especially with that trailer fin. Much stoke from Florida!

I’m not sure why I laughed so much at this part 2:10 i’m just imagining a guy filming in the parking lot with his cheeks out 😂 (like you took your shorts off for the vid).
Great vid btw, I’m eyeing out a mini simmons right now. Place I surf at is similar to these conditions but not the best for a short board.

I’m an older surfer just recently back into surfing….decent pop up and currently on 9’1 “ longboard. Early intermediate I’d say.
I dont really like longboard but live in SC with small waves ( like Charleston)
    I’m 5’9” and 145 lbs. pretty fit.
What type of board would you recommend for me? I am drawn to mini simmons but it might be to skatey for my skills / age

Hi Yuri. what about the board do you think makes it so "versatile"?
    - it looks amazing for planing speed in tiny and weak waves, but it doesn't look like the sort of board that would work in average to good waves

Hi! Thanks for watching. I surfed it on average to fun 5 ft day out here and it works amazing! I wish I had better footage. My Soloshot got messed up that day and I don't have the best wave to share haha. But It will happen once we have something solid soon! We don't get the conditions like in Bali/Menthawai... but it covers my backyard in 99% surf days! When I say the most versatile, I'm talking about me, personally. I could use some other board like CI G skate on better days to get more precise turns. But if I want to maximize my wave count by catching any wave on the inside between sets etc, there is no better board than Mini Super at this moment. If you surf only good waves, this may not look versatile to you if you need more performance. When Shea was working on the shape, he spent over 1.5 years refining it. He surfed his Mini Super from knee up to well overhead waves. .That's why I was very surprised how well it handles the waves with more size and power. Shea has another model called "Panza" which is more refined version of the Mini Super. May be that would be my next custom:) I'm happy for now though. By the way, I have another versatile board that I consider as "keeper". It's 6'6" Daniel Jones Twin Pin. I haven't reviewed it yet but it's coming! It's insane. The Mini Super is my versatile board for tiny/small/medium size waves at this moment and the Twin Pin is for small/medium and bigger days! Stay tuned!

@@SkipperSurfReview I guess everyone has their own interpretation of "5ft waves" and what constitutes "good waves". That board looks an absolute gem in very small to small waves, and fatter and mushier conditions. A tail that wide will simply not work in good and better waves. It looks like a board that is really well-suited for your typical conditions, but I don't think a mini simmons would be considered "versatile". If anything, the g skate would be more versatile - some grovelability, but also (with the nose lift and pulled in tail) able to deal with some bigger and better conditions

@@thestow35 I think it depends on how you ride the board. There is always trade off! The G skate is not fully versatile for my backyard as it needs at least 3 ft @6s swell (East Coast) to start riding with less struggle. I don’t consider it as a full on groveler board. We will see how the Mini Super will work when the waves will be better than average 😜

Hey! That's great. I would look may be into some used board like 6'1" Go Fish (Rob Machado). It all depends on where you are in terms of pop up/catching waves.
