Volvo V70 Oil Level Warning "Overfilled" How To Check & Repair. D4 Avoid A Runaway Engine!!

The Car Had A Service Not Too Long Ago, Was The Engine Oil Overfilled Or Is The Diesel Getting Into The Sump!!

Level indicator should show fine when cold - starting the engine or when running, the oil level sensor can't work out the level, it needs some time for the oil to fall back into the sump. In fact doing it cold would have given a better indication. As noted by Peter, the gauge is either "okay" or "not okay" - one of the biggest irritations on these VEA engines it seems - making owner reliant on the crappy info, a OBD reader or VIDA or an expensive call out to fix if under or over filled...

@@aaanton11 You can get dipstick set up on them (its for police spec) We fitted one to mates 2ltr D3 C70

I'm guessing you must have checked your D4 but my D5 Volvo has a small dip stick at the front of the engine.

That oil indicator only show Min or Max. Nothing in between. When your down to 4.7 liter the indicator drop-down to MIN and "add 0,5 liters" is shown. 🤨 Bad engineering design. Buy a cheap OBD reader. Then you can read straight off the oil level in millimeter. 5.2 liter equal 38mm.👍

I’m thinking 🤔 if there doing short trips, then the DPF is starting not to do it’s self regeneration? We had this on our Vivaro at work and we were getting diesel in the oil.

So Bad engine to fill oil Pump with Diesel. Disaster from a Volvo. I have the same issue with Volvo v60 b4 2022. Volvo becomes Chinese crappy brand
