Strange how this thread is full of ignorant karens
Did anyone notice the sparse laughter when the joke was on Americans’ beloved pets? Hit ‘em where it hurts, and make them think; that’s great satire. The idea is no less horrific.
So true.
Yeah, the dog and cat heads on the wall was pretty cringe-worthy, and definitely makes you think.
Well life is like a boomerang yeah baby!
Its because Americans have a overinflated view of their pets.
@@blnunya6689 Yes i agree as well as people think of pets as property and taken as close invasion.
I work in wildlife conservation and I'll just say that these people need to learn about cameras. All the skills that are necessary for hunting an animal are the same ones you use when trying to photograph them. And the cool thing is that if you use a camera the same animal can be "hunted" over and over without killing it.
If you worked in wildlife conservation you would know that most of what is in the video is cherry picked, and removing older non breeding population males from the herds of these animals is quite beneficial.
@@bradenhanzelka3512 sure, dude. 😒

@@bradenhanzelka3512 isn't that the role of Apex predators ? And in the case of Apex predators, when the alpha male gets old won't a younger, stronger male eventually challenge him and win ?
@@bradenhanzelka3512 You know that barely regulated trophy hunting tourism is not the same as responsible population management. If a competently run government issues a certain number of hunting licenses per season to help prevent a deer population from becoming out of control, for example, that is a very different situation compared to a corrupt government issuing licenses to hunt big game animals that may not need population control.
Kinda makes you wish The Predator was real, and would take some trophy hunter spines as souvenirs.

I wonder how many hunters would still be so eager to "get their trophy" if they had to do it hand-to-hand? (well, hand-to-paw...)
To be fair I don't think humans have ever hunted big game without weapons... so go ahead and let them bring some hand crafted knives and spears. That should be fine for the big, strong, alpha-male hunters, right?
@@rhunter42dragon iirc killing a lion with a spear is a rite to manhood in some african tribes.
@@targetseeker Sure, but I have two questions. One, how many members of these tribes don't make it back? Two, how many American trophy hunters do you think would be willing to even try it.

Entitled white folks with guns saving wildlife & poor African communities one carcass at a time. So heart warming.

trophy hunting? Maybe talk about the Zuma riots in SA?
ohhhh right commentary and satire when it doesn't matter ;)
We actually had hunters come to our door, despite the several "no hunting" signs on our property, asking if they could shoot a deer on our property they were tracking. This season I'm hanging signs on our 6 acres on our mountain that read "we are vegetarians, except for eating hunters." We have people come here from the city thinking they are macho because they can shoot a poor defenseless animal.
How about, "our deer shoot back"?
Where I live, the same thing occurs regarding turkeys and bears.
A few years back some fool, after being told "no" by a ranch owner, proceeded to tree a black bear sow and shoot it repeatedly (and poorly) with a .30-30.
The animal clung to the tree, bleating and wailing in agony for nearly an hour before being dispatched by a Fish and Game warden.
The shooter was underpowered, underskilled, underbrained, and under arrest.
@@-oiiio-3993 I like it! We enjoy the wildlife and they feel safe enough to lay around our property and stream and I wouldn't want to feel like I'm setting them up to be hunted.

Wildlife ecology student here. Every single one of my professors supports the act of trophy hunting. Every profession in the feild I’ve met supports hunting the North American mode of wildlife conservation is structured around hunting. The Pittman Robertson and Johnson dingell act (look it up) bring in well over a billion dollars per year and it’s from archery shooting and fishing supplies the majority is from ammo. Trophy hunting should be illegal anyways
So it should be illegal to help supports thousands of villages? And provide them with meat?
Oah!, these big killer savage cats are sacred! No! One can not compare them with dogs. They should not roam freely in African Savannah. Only one whose parents, close relatives, friends and livestock-eaten by these animals, can know how they are bad and dangerous to lives of other animals including to that of human.
Poaching done by local gerrilas and Warlords should be terminated, its way more dangerous to have a group that slaughters a single species in mass to get theyr Thusks, horns... Than some bilionair a holes That pay $$$$$$ to shoot a problematic male or a elderlly female
@@quatsch344 whose gonna pay for that? As of now the best way to support conservation and some of those communities is through hunting. So until you find a new way of paying for the habitat, local communities, and anti poaching efforts…. Trophy hunting is gonna stay. Remember hunting is REGULATED while poaching isn’t. The majority of wildlife professionals support trophy hunting. All my professors do in my wildlife ecology and natural resource classes. The money brought in from hunting is actually a ton and give encentive to provide habitat rather then converting it into cattle grazing land

CONSERVATION: careful preservation and protection of something especially: planned management of a natural resource to prevent exploitation, destruction, or neglect. - Mirriam Webster
How does this definition fit what these people are doing? And let's not forget that the words Conservation and Conservatism are closely related, so I suppose it becomes a bit clearer through THAT lens... Conservative's go-to method is claiming they're doing the opposite of reality as if no one will notice.
As a wildlife research scientist, we don't use the MW definition. That isn't how conservation is defined in the natural resources field. Preservation (via John Muir) means hands-off/leave alone and is the principle the US National Park Service was built on (hence no hunting in national parks). Conservation (via Gifford Pinchot/Aldo Leopold) within wildlife conservation/forestry is sustainable management of resources so they can perpetuate into the future for use by future generations. So, that means you can hunt and harvest timber, but there are regulations for doing so to limit the overharvesting of those resources. For wildlife that means a limited number of hunting permits, bag limits (i.e., limit on the number of animals a permitted hunter can harvest in a season), limitations on harvesting methods (e.g., type of weapons), and limits on when you can harvest (typically winter when mothers don't have young, no killing hibernating bears, etc.). And there are a lot of species that are not allowed to be hunting (neotropical migrants, endangered and other non-game species like bats, flying squirrels, etc.). Monitoring wildlife populations and science is used to determine those regulations. And trust me, most of the folks in this profession are usually liberals, especially if you're working with non-game species.
If you feel the need to justify your actions, them you're definitely not in the right.
Jim Jeffries does an excellent piece on this subject. Talking about the way we would look at this 'sport', if it were being conducted by poor people. Imagine someone sneaking round their neighbourhood, shooting cats with an air-pistol, then cutting their heads off and mounting them above their space-heaters. Seriously though, how quickly would you run from that living-room, but,... make it really expensive...
Thank you Trevor!! A fellow African.

Meat eaters who are against trophy hunting are hypocrites
Everyone down on the hunters needs to send a few bucks to conservation groups in Africa. It's because so many parks are critically underfunded that they have to rely on hunting.
"Conservation groups" aka white run conservancies are another big scam in Africa. During the covid lockdown when tourists were not travelling to Africa, they claimed that national parks require covid relief funds because the Animals would die of hunger. Africans involved in wildlife conservation laughed at them, coz ecosystems in national parks will continue to exist with or without us.

@@stevemokaya7167 That is a lot of angry garbage. It's not surprising that your source in the link couldn't get his paper published.
There are plenty of Africans leading grassroots efforts in conservation and it's corrupt and authoritarian leadership that tries passing it off as a white man's trick.
It's also ridiculous to say that because ecosystems can exist without us that we are not a threat to them. There is endless depressing evidence of deforestation, poaching, and encroachment in African parks (try mongabay.com for a sample) and this has demonstrably increased during the pandemic.
