I've had Virtual DJ for ages and I literally didn't know a thing about counting beats but what you have told me in the first 7 minutes has literally changed my ability to DJ, you are a legend my friend!
Thank you DVF for this "beginning level" mixer video. People should appreciate anyone trying to help others. As a beginner to the mixing world on a "cancer budget" I am going to give this application a try. Virtual DJ seems like a great starting point for beginners, hobbyists, and music enthusiasts. Of course you can't beat the free price!
Bro you made my life easier XD I used to sing the song in my head to beatmatch and sync the songs, which worked well, but now you gave me an example of what I do in the program xD much thanks
lol people complaining about the songs that u use but they're on a beginner mixing tutorial... lol snobs. thanks bro, coming from a beginning standpoint, I definitely understand what I'm doing a little more now and those processes should be easier on my controller. thanks again yo
when you have the problem with Nicky Romero - Toulouse at the beginning of the video, easiest thing to do to sort it, is right click it in the search bit in the middle & Analyze in Techno / house or Other Music which you can find in the BPM, click the Analyze & it should sort it out.
I've just got this software to make an old skool playlist and was clueless on how to mix the tracks nicely......this tutorial is great for beginners and successfully helped me understand how to do it....thank you!
Thanks for the video. Didn't understand until watching it my third time through. Take notes people. But more importantly actually practice doing it yourself. Being great at something takes time and hard work. It can be frustrating at times. If making it was easy then everyone would be at the top. Thats not the case however. Keep your dreams a float and most importantly.......JUST DO ITTTTTT
I just did a beautiful 3 song mix after this tutorial! Thank you so much it was beautiful! Heartbeat by Victone (PIXL Remix) to the drop of Rock n' Roll with you (Skrillex) and back to Hearbeat with levels coming in. Not like the song choice mattered but it worked!
"Uh, all those songs are so common" "Is he using sync? Fucking pleb!" "Pffft, real DJ's don't use digital software!" M8s. Chill it's just a beginners tutorial.
you experience the problem of the track not loading because it is not a legitimate copy. I used to get the same thing when using a Friends music libary. Purchase your music if you can. You'll find cue points and tracks load perfectly and the quality of the tracks is bettter as well. Happy Mixing.
slight correction: the lowercase "m" in the name of a key means MINOR, so those songs (if they're tagged correctly) are in F minor and F# minor. for major keys we just use the letter name (and a sharp or flat sign).
The quality of DJ's are going down because much like EVERYTHING, these things are widely available. At the end of the day, all people wanna hear is good music. As long as you're bringing that, good energy or whatever, who cares what you use. As long as the people listening to it are vibing, that's all that matters.
Jay maniA I'm a DJ and I' good at it as far as my knowledge goes, but my mixing skills on timeing could use a little work, but other than that ask me questions and I'll answer.
BigVadik Just 4 questions then: 1. What kind of music is popular in clubs? Is future bass/chill trap suitable? 2. How do you deal with the pressure of not messing up? 3. When transitioning into different genres (e.g. dubstep into hiphop) does it work well? receive positive vibe? 4. How do you read a crowd? I get the idea, don't think I could do it myself. Can the skill be learned? Thanks
Brian Yang 1. Depends on the club, they usually tell you ahead of time. 2. First practice mixing don't even worry about effects, just master beatmatching and smoothly transitioning songs together. Once you have mixing down to where you don't even think about it, then you are ready for your first gig. You learn effects, and advanced mixing techniques as you practice, and learn. 3. It might work if the dubstep has vocals from a hiphop song, then you could mix it in to sound good. 4. Your music has to flow, if your crowd is energized play 128-160 bpm music, if you want to calm it down a bit, slowly go down on BPM as you mix, just make sure it flows, also make sure you have a large playlist of different genres and songs you can choose from, Pop music is usually good to have as people are expecting to hear popular songs that have been on the radio.
I Tend to loop the next deck sequence of 16, or the 1234's so it's ready when I am ready, I don't use the Cross fader at all, Instead I use the volume sliders and turn town the bass from what I'm crossing from so you still hear it playing whilst in the mix and then bring that sound down as I sequence in the new track when previous track is cut kf completely. Sure its not easy but is doable. I found my style of mixing to sound far better overall than just using crossfade. Also some tunes even though sync up and same BPM maybe still out of line so I ten to adjust the pitch of what I want to bring in which kind of works better, I'm sure you know what I mean it's like a 2nd beat before the 2 in sequence. Or some where the bear is not on the solid thick square. All you do with that is sync it as beat 1 with the track you mixing to.
Why Mac computers have problem to updater or recognize the latest iTumes library for VirtualDJ 8 since Apple has their own djay Pro? Is Apple's jay Pro competing with VirtualDJ software?
I love it have been using it for years!! Records for free and sent it straight to the smartphone from laptop to play out and about as well as in the car via bluetooth.
Hey, try finding a song that has an 8 bar (32 beats) intro, and one with an 8 bar outro, and then as the outro starts on one, begin the intro. Leave the crossfader in the middle. Sounds 100x better than messing with the crossfader, without a controller & heavy practice. Otherwise an ok video
There is a setting on options or settings where you can allow songs that are more than 15 minutes to load the full track. The default is 15 minutes. You can change it to 20 or 30 minutes
So much hatin in these comments damn....Let the dude do his thing if you don't like it atleast give some advice that is useful rather then just thinking you're all so smart and just saying you suck. DigitalVideoFX do your thing man don't let the haters get to you
That would make you sound like a terrible dj. Learn before you say.

That Toulouse track just didn’t load because it’s a corrupted file, although you can still be able to use it by clicking on the time bar and forwards and it will load. I love VDJ :)
+Admir Salihagic You need a soundcard which has that feature on it, standard pc soundcards wont do it. But if you by a dj controller like the mixtrack pro or pioneer ddj then they have this feature built into them
You can purchase a usb sound card that's about the size of a thumb drive for $10 on eBay and it works fine I've used one for a live performance when i needed a backup for my Mixtrack
songs that are long don't load all the way on the free trial of virtual dj for some reason. Ran into that problem as well at one point. Its annoying when your trying to play a specific section of a long song like that and it wont load all the way for you.
if the track isn't loading go to CONFIG->Performance->Memory->Don't pre-load files bigger that change that nummer to 500 and it is fixed :) sorry for my English
Tbh I think Cross DJ app on Play Store can match the Virtual DJ and the clever thing is that you can use your fingers and scratch on an android device like a tablet, no need for any DJ Controller, or try to use a mouse like what this guy is using that's just my opinion, I suppose it's all about preferences of what people like and/or what they have become use to hmmm
I had a similar problem with songs not loading. You have to change the setting to preload max song length.even though the song might only be 5 mins, the program sees it much longer. I set my max song length to 45 mins, that fixed my loading problem. Settings, performances, memory
virtual dj home free setup wizad ended prematurely because of an a error your system has not to been modified to install this program at a letter time run setup wizad again.click the finish butten to exit the setup wizad Please help me 😐
The Reason it doesnt load in full is because that version is 16 mins long and your settings will be to load a certain amount of song so it works optium CPU.
pretty cool little video, didn't know much about how to mix things in a basic way. I wanna learn how to DJ really bad because it seems so cool but who knows if ill ever get into it haha nice vid tho!
I'm having a problem beat matching with VDJ 8. I taught myself how to mix on turntables and am slowly transitioning over to using only CD's. The problem I am having is, when I cue up on the downbeat and come in on the one, I get it rolling where I close to a good sync, but then I press the sync button and lose it every time. What am I doing wrong?
About the song not loading, vdj has a size limit that you need to change from the settings,if the song that you load is larger than the size set in the settings it will load this way...Not that it matters now :P
Hey this is just a little tip when you're making videos, you should cut out awkward silences that aren't necessary or move around parts of the video so they fit in the right order.

+DJ Martin GT are u hating on me?
DJ Martin GT probably didn't know what you meant.
Don't think they understand quotation marks
really informative tutorial, most tutorials just give a basic run down rather than showing and explaining in depth, thanks
Some people need to seriously chill out a little and get off their high horses. They guys just trying to help out ppl who use this program.

ruclips.net/video/bpG9NUih7fY/видео.html
First off....Do NOT think you can use this great program with a mouse. You need a controller....FACT.
Absolutely awesome

Don't know why the hate in the comment section, this was a good tutorial, learned some new things, thanks Iconik :)
You could use the SYNC too if u want to mix the first part of two song
Great video.
Thanks, good info for getting just the basic gist of it, exactly as intended.
You such a good person. You really gave the best explanation and I am happy following your guidelines. Thanks and continue to teach the beginners
So much hatin in these comments damn....Let the dude do his thing if you don't like it atleast give some advice that is useful rather then just thinking you're all so smart and just saying you suck. DigitalVideoFX do your thing man don't let the haters get to you
3:30 To fix this loading issue:
Goto Config>>Performances>>Memory
Set it to something like 30 or 45 mins (length of track)
im not seeing performance nor memory
I learned fading really well, Still working on mixing though, Not good explanation but I still understood. Great Tutorial recommended for begginers.
Good video but you need to do something about the constant lip smacking and swallowing your spit at awkward times
+waffleking3211 swallowing the spit was probably the worst parts in this vid xD
Dammit I didn't notice it until you mentioned it
Good advice for how to use Virtual DJ
thank you very much sir it worked like charm...... i got a big smile how good i am........
OMG I had to watch this like a million times to get it down but I eventually got it! WOO!
Thanks for taking the time to do this tutorial. I really appreciate it.
Nice lecture, thank you very much
This is just perfect ! Great explanation , Thank you very much :)
thanks, it actually let me through so i could download it.
Hi, could you pls tell me what ski is this ? I have vdj free 8.1 and I did not found the skin on the website.
Thank you bro. My dj skills improved a lot
If ur switching drops dont do the crossfader slowly but do it like a cut mix. Not as obvious.
That would make you sound like a terrible dj. Learn before you say.
That Toulouse track just didn’t load because it’s a corrupted file, although you can still be able to use it by clicking on the time bar and forwards and it will load.
I love VDJ :)
