Other than a couple times you paused and looked like you saw a ghost, was a great video. Will be starting this process in the next couple of weeks for my car and this is a great starting point for me. Thanks
DAMN good idea bro! You could also multi function your raspberry Pi if you use a usb bluetooth receiver. Or even go with the Pi 3. Then you are taking your monitor and integrating it with your Android (not sure about apple). I love cool stuff like what you are doing. Good luck and Ill be watching out for your updates. My brain has been going crazy for 2 days
I stopped counting at 10 blinks. Want a scary statistic, if you drive 11 hours without stopping you will have your eyes closed for no less than 7 minuets, and really blinky people will go as high as 11 minuets.
Waste my time? Hell no. Great idea, good concept. Props bro for attempting this! As I just came across this, I'll be interested in how this works out! Thanks!
Not trying to be douce bag, but I see this all the time. At 8:33, a lesson to everybody tinkering with electronics. Don't yank connectors side to side, ever. They are usually just kept in place by solder... Just pull them straight out. ;-)
I'm going to watch your videos on this, because I am doing something similar but different: using a micro-pc and a 13.3 inch portable monitor (both work off of 12v power) and using RealDash via ODBII to USB. I can add a second monitor, extend the display, and make a custom touchscreen for audio and navigation (using the mini-pc bluetooth to send audio through my existing stereo). Both mini-pc and portable monitor are on switched 12v, and the PC is set to wake on powerup from power failure (aka key off). Simple macro to run realdash at boot and BOOM. Endless possibilities... tuner/dyno apps on your dashboard? Forscan or other diag stuff? Play GTAV on your dash while waiting in traffic? Install an additional screen in a headrest for your child to watch tv on? Thoughts?
This may, or may not apply: The touch screen on my Dell XPS 8700 is a (Dell P2314T) Touch Monitor. It has three connections the power, HDMI and USB. The HDMI is strictly for the video, while the USB is used to transmit touch screen data to the tower. You might try running the screen's mini USB to the main board, this might bridge it. I've never played with that stuff before so I'm just guessing. I however think it's a great idea what you're doing.
I clicked "G35 LCD Gauge" i get "customer computer cluster pt.1 (for mesubbitchy lancerlot) Not sure how this playlist name applies to the actual videos in the playlist. Like... "A10 warthog" playlist... gives you "How to dig a ditch" videos. =T
thinking about doing something like this for my 2006 CBR600RR Repsol sport bike, kinda in the same spot as you were, haven't done anything like this before. Im wondering if access to my bikes ECU isn’t going to be a problem, actually haven't even looked into it yet. but I’ve already began purchasing items off amazon
That's awesome man best of luck to ya just do lots a research and reading. Would love to see how you do it and how it turns out will you be posting anywhere?
Good video bud, you're much braver than I am, I couldn't make RUclips videos haha. Just try be more confident!! You're content is great, so sell it to me!! Keep it up :)

Vary interesting , sounds exciting and cool; have heard of the rasberry pi but know nothing about them, Just stumbled across gave it a like & sub. Good luck have a C-4 vette 89 with the uber stupid fake digital dash which I absolutely hate. This would be perfect have look into other digital option such as Racepak which is cool and vary flexible but pricey. Besides have always liked building myself for the bragging/pride. So lets see how it comes out...
great video. I might try this on my ride. just something I noticed, at 1:30 in you Logo is spelled wrong so you might want to fix it for up coming videos...looking forward to more videos...thanks!
Where's Part 2? ..and dude. PLEASE STOP APOLOGIZING. To everyone you do this to, cause i imagine this is a thing w you. You have ZERO reason to apologize for ANYTHING you post on RUclips. Im doing a custom dash as well, but using a lot more graphics power than a Raspberry can provide enough juice for @ 12.3" and 1920x700 with 3d graphics. Where is your part 2? Don't see a link anywhere in your channel's list. Did you shelve this project? How much dust is on top of that dash trim panel sitting on that table in your video now? I hope.none to very little. Hope you are cruising around enjoying your custom dash, ...but not saying things like "I'm sorry, but my dash is better than yours." "I'm Sorry" - Delete from your vocab? (Click yes) God bless
+Patrick Reilly ruclips.net/video/Dh-pOCS-QYg/видео.html There ya go and thanks recently sold the car and learned it was totaled :( sad day but hope you enjoy the video and feel free to check out my other videos and let me know what you think.
WTF Dude??? You basically made a prep video to prep installation. I need results, and right now DAMMIT!!! And I, like others. Am really disappointed in the click bait image. Not cool 😠
Not a waste of time at all, keep up the good work, looking forward to see the detailed progress. Thanks for sharing!
Other than a couple times you paused and looked like you saw a ghost, was a great video. Will be starting this process in the next couple of weeks for my car and this is a great starting point for me. Thanks
Much better than those who write down the text and read it like puppets XD
default thumbnail is deceiving! Worthless.
no part 2 either
Better than fuckin everythin else on here
I can't wait.
You remind me very much of myself and my thought processes ha
Great video man :) I may have to try something like this
To get touchscreen capabilities you need usb connected to the RPi. It will not happen over HDMI.
DAMN good idea bro! You could also multi function your raspberry Pi if you use a usb bluetooth receiver. Or even go with the Pi 3. broderp thank you sir it was a fun project to do and learn from glad you like it. Thanks for the comment

plug the usb of the screen directly to the pie for touch support
jepp the HDMI has no Touchscreen Channel and thats why you need an Second cable
If the screen has raspian built in, then you don't need the raspberry pie
shay pain if the screen has Raspberry Pi built-in then you don't need a separate Raspberry Pi box
get it?
i really like it
Very nice!
That is so cool!!! keep us posted please!
Thank you
If your still active, do you have any sources for people using existing LCD instrument clusters as a screen?
good video but i'm giving you downvote due to clickbait thumbnail

The touchscreen doesn't work without the usb being plugged into the rpi... it's for power and the touchscreen "mouse" driver
