I work in a field where I encounter people on a regular basis who have severe untreated mental illness, including disorders that cause disassociation from reality and generally incoherent thoughts, such as schizophrenia. None of them sound this bad.

Here's the thing. I know people in their eighties who are sharp as tacks, prolific readers, are still asked to give speeches on behalf of various organizations/charities etc. I also know people in their mid-seventies who are clearly failing mentally. The fact that Biden is a few years older than Trump really has nothing to do with whether one, both, or either of them has dementia. But the way Trump jumps from topic to topic without any clear connections between them and is proudly proclaiming that he's come up with a new name for corn is troubling on its own because it indicates an inability to present a focused argument. That could be because he has issues with his mental health, such as dementia. It could simply be because he's simply a terrible public speaker who doesn't think things through before she speaks. Either way, it's not really a good look for a presidential candidate.
Dementia runs in his family, so it stands to reason that's exactly what ails him.

Trump is wrong on corn. Take away the special subsidies - corn would shrink in production dramatically. Corn based ethanol was intended to be a transition to methanol and better biofuel.
The list of products made from the corn plant is nearly endless. The biodegradable drinking straws I buy are made from the corn plant. Very plastic-y and sturdy. Thinking corn is grown only for ethanol is really underplaying how useful every part of the lowly cornstalk is to humanity.

I can get tons of methanol easily enough, just from charcoal production. Baking the wood releases methanol. Don't have much baking involved in making ethanol and well, both need distillation.
And both release far less greenhouse gases than gasoline, albeit at a lower energy production for a piston engine.
@@wendybutler1681 . They make animal food from corn; in fact, when I was a kid on a farm, most of the corn went to the market on the hoof. (Ethanol for gas wasn't around then.) Corn is also grown to make corn mash from which bourbon is distilled.

As for the democrat MAGA haters, they have applauded a series of unconstitutional efforts on the part of rabid state and local district attorneys in pursuit of the former president.
