    Such a brilliant effort for keeping the ball in field, the benefit of the doubt should be given to the player unless there's clear evidence proving otherwise, the fact that Kolbe scored is secondary. If there was another camera angle or from somone filming from the crowd it would settle it.
    It wouldn't have been such a nailbiter if Pollard didn't miss 9 points at posts, was a bad day goal kicking for all teams.
    All in all both teams are going to up their game next week and it's great to see the Boks testing out different tactics and to think it was only their first real test.
    Ireland are going to be tough to crack in Durban though, Boks are really going to have to work hard to win.

    It's class the way the Boks and the ABs move their games around the country. Adds an extra dimension, especially for tours like this. How good would it be to see a proper test game in the GAA stadiums in Cork or Limerick.... The buzz would be brilliant. I presume sponsorship deals and what not unfortunately prevent that from ever happening.

    I have to take issue with your comments about the tmo. That was excellent use of the tmo. Just because you didn't understand the call on Lowe's try has nothing to do with the correct call. FYI the call was 9ne of the Irish players lying on the ground used his leg to hook tue ball back. That's illegal and is the kind of cheating the ref would find hard to see without assistance of the tmo. Same goes with the held up call and the ball kept in play call. Yes the ball kept in play decision wasn't conclusive but its reasonable to believe Lowe did everything to keep it in play so without conclusive evidence to contradict the on field call was right. Nothing unfair about it. Rub of the green goes to home team which is a big part of home advantage. But as a general statement that match used the tmo appropriately and the calls were technically correct. You should be praising the tmo and ref performance.

      No the issue was that the neck roll caused the Irish player to go to ground and effect the ball and that action was caused by a SA players illegal move. Anyway, who cares, we go again next week.

    • @Burninglash
      @Burninglash Месяц назад +3

      @robertswaine204 my point was not about the specific decision but rather that tue tmo use was very minimal and used to provide info tue tef could not pick up on his own. Ie enhanced the refs effectiveness.

    You were on making sense until you talked about the tmo .... the disallowed try was clear that the Irish player kicked the ball back to their side while he was on his hand and knees...in the Colby try it was close but there was no clear evidence that is was out ..... but there were plenty of missed calls ireland was allowed way to much on the ground in The ruck and there was a clear tackle to the head in the second half that they did not even check ... think at the end it was a great game with most of the calls evening out

  • @PhillipDawson10
    @PhillipDawson10 Месяц назад +1

    I called the Ronan Kelleher playing/kicking the ball back when on the ground in real time. If the TMO did not pick it up, then I would have accepted it, because we have had a lot of bad luck with TMO's.
    The James Lowe decision, you have to accept that James Lowe previously in the game had the sense to pass the ball into play from outside which resulted in a try, So saying James Lowe was good in the one instance and was not in the other, is that not an insult to James Lowe's skill. What he did for the first try was brilliant.
    There were a lot of other decisions that could have been picked up, as Irelands were constantly playing or holding the ball while on the ground in the ruck, or cleaning from the side.
    In the end the game is done, and hopefully both teams will play the next game trying to make less mistakes. Cannot wait

The Lowe try is a case in point. The spectators in the stadium and the TV viewers are being denied the glorious parts of our game. TMO decisions like this are game changers. So Ben Whitehouse the Welshman and Luke Pearce the Englishman are hometown officials? Do people even think before typing? The calls were really tight. Really 50/50 decisions. Maybe just maybe - James Francis Rawiri Lowe, the New Zealander, had a shocker for Ireland? If he left the ball, no try, and the TMO does not even need to be involved. Sacha kicks off way to deep and Lowe plays it forcing a scramble and 5m scrum and the Springboks get the penalty try. Were the Boks lucky - extremely. Does it matter now - no. The first TMO debated decision was clearly ball played on the ground by an Irish player on the ground in a ruck situation and was clearly illegal. The second debated TMO decision was far more dubious as the view required from a camera was not there and so the ref and the TMO decided to go with the refs initial feeling - that it was a try. I felt the ball hit the Irish players hand while coming back into the field of play while his foot was firmly out of bounds - therefore line-out and no try.

    When has SA been on the wrong side of TMO decisions? You are the TMO world champs. 5th best team in the world at best

    Lowes try was rightly disallowed. Ireland won the ball illegally...period. Great call by the TMO.

    Ball thrown back into play by Lowe on the penalty before his foot was grounded was also justified. The ball was out of his left hand before his foot was grounded. His right hand wasnt visible but the ball was free in the air. TMO was right again..
