    Absolutely incredible. The lighting, Iris and breather vent and hatchway actions are beautiful details. This version of the submarine was the classic, never yet equaled or surpassed. So nice to see this, thank you.

    Finished product looks great. The lighting and other effects really add to the cool factor. I especially like the iris.

    Awesome model.I love it.
    I was trying to carve a model of the Nautilus, out of a large piece of spruce wood, when I was 13 years old. No need to tell you that it was a total failure. Times have changed a lot since then. Today you can buy almost everything you need on the Internet. Today I´m into model jets.

    Gorgeous model, love the iris. I would suggest enclosing the wires in a woven shoelace or something big enough, textile, and more in keeping with the time period of the piece.

    This -much like everything else you do- is amazing. I remember you mentioning in another video that you do this on the weekend and mornings. Working a full time job and doing this on the side is amazing. May I ask how long it took to build this?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  9 лет назад +3

      Thank you for the kind words! This particular build took about 4 months of mornings and weekends. Your memory is good!
      My sub work schedule typically looks something like this:
      M/W/F at 4:30am: Wake up! Work in the garage until 5:15 then leave for Crossfit workout at the gym. About 30 minutes of sub time
      T/Th: at 4:30am: Wake up! Work in the garage until 6:30am then get ready for work. About 1.5 hrs of sub build time
      Sat/Sun: at 5am: Wake up! Work in the garage until 7:30am, then go about my morning family routine. About 2hrs, 15 minutes of sub build time, plus maybe a few extra minutes I can scrounge here and there throughout the day.
      So, total weekly build time is around the 9 or maybe 10 hour mark. Unfortunately, I often travel for work for a week at a time, so that takes up about a week out of each month. Monthly sub time would be close to 30 hours, I'm guessing, on average.

    what is the price on this awesome piece of art?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  10 лет назад +1

      The kit itself can be ordered from the Nautilus Drydocks (at the url of its name). Price is $1900. If you're interested I would hurry, as the molds are nearly finished and redoing them is not planned.

    Is the skiff removable?

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  9 лет назад +1

      Absolutely! Additionally, the skiff cover is removable and the skiff features a full interior including bench seating, oar locks and two oars. The skiff can be displayed as closed or in the open position.

      This particular model was commissioned by a customer, so it is, unfortunately, long since departed the Drydocks for its home. If you're interested in a buildup, please hit me up by email at bob@rc-sub.com and we can work through details!
