We are going there in June on our 16th anniversary cruise, Virgin’s Valiant Lady.
That is awesome. I hope you all have a great time.
We are cruising there next spring. So far we plan on using this port as our excursion. How are the lazy river and pool as destinations instead of booking an excursion?
It’s a lot of fun. You can def do that
Walking around to the Fort and the Cathedral- is it far and what about shops on Umbrella street will be
there in July Seascape
It’s def a long walk. About 30-40 min. There are some shops there. Mostly local things which are great
Cruising there in November. Can you book an adventurous excursion at the bay if your cruise line’s excursions are sold out?
You could but they sell out as well. Viator is a really good option
We will be there in May on the Seascape. Any suggestions for coffee?
El rincon de cafe was the best coffee I had there!
Not planning on booking an excursion, but am interested in enjoying the sunshine and the lazy river. I think I spotted the entrance to the lazy river in your video. Do you recall if there are chairs nearby that river entrance? Thanks for the little overview!
Thanks for watching. There sure are chairs there
@@ByteSizeCruises Thank you! I now have a plan for that port, thanks to you!
Is Playa El Chaparral (near Playa del Publito) a good beach?
Hi there. I am not sure. I apologize. I have not been there nor have I heard anything good or bad about it.
There are taxis offering city tours online. Is it worth taking them or is it possible to do those things walking from port?
I generally don’t recommend those tours as they are unpredictable. I would recommend enjoying the port or using an official cruise line excursion or something like viator
Is it safe to drink alcohol in the DR Again? A few years back people were dying from tainted and bootleg liquor
It’s fine in the port but I wouldn’t drink on the actual island
What does it cost for a couple to taxi to the beach?
round trip should be about $30 with a tip
Should I bring local currency?
They accept American dollars
I just booked a cruise for 2025 on MSC but the port on my itinerary says Amber Cove. I’m confused. Lol.
Hi. Amber Cove is a different port in puerto plata area of DR. It is about 15 min from Taino Bay Puerto Plata
Is it safe to drink things with ice cubes in them? Im always scared about this!
Yes. They do not have any issues there. Mexico def not but here it’s fine.
@@ByteSizeCruises thank you 😊
Do you need a Passport for DR
cruising on Royal Caribbean
or can you just bring a birth certificate
If you leave from a U.S. port and return to US port you need birth cert and drivers license If you leave or return outside the U.S. you would need a passport.
@@ByteSizeCruises Thank you very much 💗
Do you need a passport if I’m going in a cruise
Hi. It depends. If you are a U.S. citizen and the cruise leaves from a U.S. port and returns to a U.S. port you can use you drivers license and actual raised seal birth certificate but it is easier if you have a passport
I’m going in couple months can I pick up my lady friend and bring her here while I’m there then take her back on a Uber
The port is a secure area so technically you must have a sea pass card to get in/out.
I like Mangos
I mean. Who doesn’t
