Sorry 🫣I just saw your question. 😳 No there wasn’t a line but we went early like 10amish or so. Idr the exact time. When we came back by, going back to the ship in the aftn, there seemed to be more people there. Go early!
In the Taino Bay Port, its called Monkey Island. It is inside the port. Cost is 25.00 for 30 min. Great experience. The one you have to drive to is called Monkey Land. This one you have to drive to. Just go to the one in the port! Its awesome.
Yup! It’s called Monkey Island and there is no need to pre-purchase as an excursion. Monkey Land is the excursion. This is a very easy walk from the ship inside the Cruise Port. Wonderful Pooles who work there! We had a fantastic experience
Yes, but that requires an excursion to be bought or at least transportation to get out there. This is great for someone that just wants to interact with the Monkeys, for a short period of time and not much money
It’s not in the Amber Cove Port. It’s the other one that’s a little farther South - Taino Bay. You will see the Fort when you pull into the pier area. You might check and see if NCL has an excursion to Monkeys. Idk that you can get into the Port Area with your ship not being there bc they did check our Bands. (we were on Virgin Voyages). So likely better to book an actual excursion Here is one that goes out to the jungle for Zip lining and you can feed Monkeys too. pe.tours/NDIwNDg1/ You will need to check the start times against your NCL Port Schedule
Hoping someone can answer this ? I will be there in 2 weeks. I see it says walk up and pay but when 5000 ppl are getting off the cruise how would i know for sure ill get a chance to go in?!
👋 idk if there is a way to reserve a spot here, as this is the location in the Cruise Terminal area. We went when we got off the Ship - it was like 10amish, if I remember right- and there wasn’t a line. We did notice when we were going back to the ship there were more people there. So go early. We also were not on a Mega Ship. There were maybe 2500 on our Virgin Voyages Ship? It wasn’t sold out and only holds about 2800. If you want to repurchase an excursion, then look at the ones that include transportation to Monkeyland. What Cruise Ship and sail date is it? I will get a link for you to look at
@EscapeRightTravel April 2 we will dock! Liberty of the seas. I heard two other cruises will be docking with us. I don't want to drive to monkeyland. I want to stay around the port and go swimming after. I just feel like a lot of ppl will be doing this and I don't want to miss out. Do you also know do they accept American money ?!
@@shady1128 I can’t answer how many people are gonna be doing it. There are a lot of people who do go outside the port to explore the island or the city. There’s lots to do in Porto Plata things to see. Some are going to take a beach day which means they’re gonna go out to Playa Dorada or Golden Beach. There will be others that do you go out to monkey land because of the zip lining. Some of the best zip lining is done in Dominican Republic. Lots of people will probably go out to Damajagua Waterfalls because it’s a very popular destination. And then those that don’t do an excursion will take a quick cab into town to see the umbrella street and the chocolate factory and some of the other things that’s there to do. Plus, there’s a Fort right when you pull into the port, you’ll see it on the left. There’s no way off 5000 people are gonna be hanging around the port. That’s not what most people do when they get to a cruise port. So you should be fine. Here is the link for Taino Bay you can see what all there is to do inside the gates. www.porttainobay.com
@@shady1128 also, I just checked your itinerary and liberty of the seas going out April 1 docks in Puerto Plata on the 3rd not the 2nd. This itinerary leaves Fort Lauderdale on the 1st, you have a day at sea on the 2nd, and then Puerto Plata on the 3rd, with a day at sea on the 4th and then you’re back-and-forth Lauderdale.
👋 I don’t know why it wouldn’t be. This location is inside the cruise port shopping area. So you don’t even have to leave the gates. It’s kind of Tucktaway in a corner. If you look on the map when you get off the ship, you’ll see it. But there is no stairs or anything that would make it not wheelchair accessible. Go have fun! We really enjoyed our time with Marcos and his monkey friends
It was a pleasure having you guys here.. you make me famous now lol 😅😅
We'll be there in March :-) Was there much of a line or wait to get in?

@EscapeRightTravel I'm porting in Amber Cove. I wouldn't be able to take a taxi to monkey island from Amber Cove?
There is a larger tour called Monkey Jungle, which includes a zip line.
Yes, but that requires an excursion to be bought or at least transportation to get out there. This is great for someone that just wants to interact with the Monkeys, for a short period of time and not much money
Is this located at the port? We are sailing on NCL in June and would love to see the monkeys.
I believe we are porting at Amber Cove
