    This is my 1st drone. One thing that I did was get a red Sharpie and make a mark on the front of this thing. For people just getting used to controlling a drone, knowing which end is front makes it a lot easier.

    I flew one of these and it had the Patten of ironman on it.
    It is so cute.
    Honest opinion is for how much it is it's a brilliant little drone and I want one and for 99 pounds it's amazing and I love how it locks in position.
    Stability is amzing.

    I love the young cinematographer working it... you can tell he’s enjoying the droning as much as the cinematography. One tip, at 54 seconds you have chopped your dad’s head just above the eyebrows, it’s noticeable if you’re viewing on widescreen like I am now... either keep he and the drone in the frame all together or chop him out below the neck or start with both of them in frame and zoom in on the drone... it’s nice to see family is doing fun things like this altogether, keep it up and thank you guys for all the great videos, I am now subscriber and I’m looking forward to the next one! 👍🏼

    I’ve never seen vision positioning like this on a toy drone. I actually took it up about 30-feet and it was still holding its position. Pretty amazing. Looks like your recorded video doesn’t have nearly the amount of dropped frames as mine does. Glad to hear your opinion of it.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  6 лет назад +2

      Yes - the visual positioning is pretty amazing for a toy. And I really like the flight modes too. Thanks for the comment!

      Try a faster SD card it might help with the drop frame rates.

    • @videoscrapheap
      @videoscrapheap 6 лет назад +2

      It doesn't have an SD card. The images and video stream are captured in the phone app.

    • @GadgetInspector
      @GadgetInspector 6 лет назад +3

      Correct. I wish it did take a card though, that would probably solve it. I'm hoping Ryze can improve the bit rate or something in a firmware update. We'll see.

    For some reason my tello drone does not hover in the same spot and one time it kept flying left and hit a wall and broke a propeller. I’ve made sure that the propellers where in the right place but I’m still very unhappy I think mine just came broken like that allotted camera isn’t that good as it looks if ur video

    This quad's performance and flight characteristics strongly resembles that of Parrot's "airborne night" (Maclane) series. Similarly priced. Better app flight options with Tello.

    If you are thinking about buying this drone , don't think any more and go buy it , it is an excellent drone , I big it up with an honest review .
    The tello rocks , and is so much fun and easy to fly .
    And the good news is ,if it does break it's cheap to replace .
    However tello.js crash friendly and cheap to replace parts .
    Great drone

    the range of this drone can be extended with the xioami range extender . the altitude can be extended to 30m with the TALS app . however something to be aware of is that this drone is VERY prone to flyways particularly at the extended altitude even in a light breeze . I have had a couple of instances of fly aways nearly losing my drone

      Very cool. This thing flies pretty well inside too. One trick is to make sure there is plenty of light b/c the vision positioning sensor works best if there is enough light.

  • @DFDuck55
    @DFDuck55 6 лет назад +1

    I'm not so sure it is going up when you put your hand under it due to it's vision positioning or not. Any small drone when you put your hand under it will go up because it's getting better lift due to the down force wind having something to push against. My main interest in wanting to buy one is being able to program it with Scratch. Though I haven't found any reviews yet of anyone using the Scratch programming language with it, so have no idea what all you can do with that. I'm hoping it will work to run 2 or 3 Tello's at the same time and have them perform some Hive maneuvers.

    Thank you for the review. As I was reviewing this little drone I came across the review where the reviewer made a comment that hubson h216a is a better drone than tello because it has a better camera, has a transmitter controller and has a gps. Supposedly hubson has better quality 1080p camera and the quality of the footage was better than tello on his review however on your review I don’t think tello has a bad quality of the footage. I really like what I am getting from tello in terms of these flight modes which I don’t get as much on the hubson. So to conclude I think that I would still go with tello even though it does not have a gps, it may have worse camera( I am not sure if tello has 1080p) and it does not have a controller but it has these cool features such as throw and go, 360, circle, palm landing and that’s what my niece and nephew would like I think. What’s your thought on that ?

    I think height is one of the most important aspects of drone flying. Getting that perspective of the landscape from 100-200m above the ground, that’s what most people want from a video drone.
    Maybe they should have used Bluetooth, they would have achieved slightly more range.

    Thanks Kelly. nice summary. This looks very similar to the Parrot Mambo FPV I reviewed a couple of months ago. I was wondering if the optional remotes would talk directly with the Tello, but it seems not, as you say, so like the Parrot, this really is a fun, toy drone for kids and beginners who want some short-range flying. Thanks for the review! Cheers, Ian in London.

    Very nice review, really liked it!! But I believe that in general even if a drone has a gps or not it always utilizes other sensors to maintain its position/balance (gyroscopes, acceleration sensors, camera and proximity sensors) the gnss receivers fitted in commercial drones do not have the necessary accuracy to help the drone maintain such a steady position (one of the best gnss receivers for commercial drones is that of a phantom 4 RTK which has centimeter level accuracy, that means that at the same position it gives the drone geographical coordinates that are + or - some centimeters apart from the real ones and from each other, if the drone used this information to keep its position it would constantly change its position or constantly shake in mid air)

    I just got mine yesterday. Turned it on it went up and hung that like it was on strings. I tested this until my battery ran out it didn’t move more than an inch or two the whole time. I did do the firmware update before I started. I got it to go about 40 to 50 yards out with my iPad air 2. Video was pretty sharp for 720 and stable going forward and backward. Minor frame skipping when turning or banking. The joy Stick controllers on my iPad or on my android phone moved to the position of my thumbs. Which makes it simple the fly. This is the perfect backyard drone for barbecues and parties. Anyone can fly it and you don’t really have to worry about it hurting anyone something goes wrong. And feels like a piece of technology not a piece of plastic junk. In the app itself there’s a link to Ryze where you can chat immediately with the person if you have any problems or questions. All in all it’s the best $100 drone I have a purchased.

    Nice review. That's another good one for the kids to play with out in the yard. Software stabilization is usually pretty good. Im surprised at how well it holds its own in the air as well as a little bit of wind. Impressive it has those extra flight modes. So when will you test it's............ Range? One question. How long will it last on one charge? A hover test will suffice.

      I already did the battery flight time test - will publish next week. In terms of range - it's not great. Maybe 40 yards/meters before it starts to lose connection. As I mentioned, it's really for flying indoors and/or low/close.

    Excellent review, thinking a lot on getting this little drone, but do I have to register for flights? Would I get in trouble if use it in a park?
    Thanks. PS would be my first drone toy..

      It is under 250 grams, so you do not have to register it. Should be fine to fly in a park

    Nice video, how much distance can you fly it away?

    Looking forward to part 2 using the Bluetooth controller. I just received my Tello yesterday and having no tactile feedback on the phone requires a bit of a learning curve. Super fun though.
    I've seen that they recommend MFI and Gamesir remotes but no one can verify what actually works yet. I'd appreciate a recommendation for Android.
    Thanks!

    Admittedly, I am a newbie with ANY kind of drone. Thinking about buying this as a Christmas present for brother-in-law who likes cool simple gadgets. )) Now, the question is, do you HAVE to be connect to WiFi to fly this drone? Or just need Wifi for camera? In this video, were you on Wifi at the baseball field? Or, was it connected to Wifi with the transmitters from each device? Thanks for an answer.

    Great review. Will you be getting the Gamevice Controller for the iPhone that sells for $79 on the DJI website?
