This is my 1st drone. One thing that I did was get a red Sharpie and make a mark on the front of this thing. For people just getting used to controlling a drone, knowing which end is front makes it a lot easier.
Wow, great review and full of interest unlike some sites that just talk your face off. Many thanks to you and your son and on the strength of this review I will buy one !!!
Great video! Any idea what happens when it goes out of range? I take it there's no RTH mode without the GPS etc does it just land? I'm a bit worried about flying it over water etc Im thinking of getting one for traveling etc
For some reason my tello drone does not hover in the same spot and one time it kept flying left and hit a wall and broke a propeller. I’ve made sure that the propellers where in the right place but I’m still very unhappy I think mine just came broken like that allotted camera isn’t that good as it looks if ur video
thx for the review. Just purchased this one for my daughter; she's 7 and loves to fly the Spark and does a great job, so thought I'd get her this one to call her own. DJI is making really good products right now.
I love the young cinematographer working it... you can tell he’s enjoying the droning as much as the cinematography. One tip, at 54 seconds you have chopped your dad’s head just above the eyebrows, it’s noticeable if you’re viewing on widescreen like I am now... either keep he and the drone in the frame all together or chop him out below the neck or start with both of them in frame and zoom in on the drone... it’s nice to see family is doing fun things like this altogether, keep it up and thank you guys for all the great videos, I am now subscriber and I’m looking forward to the next one! 👍🏼
Great Video showing what the Tello can do,but also what great photography your son did no jerking, wobbling motions just smooth motion great job son he will take over for you!!Thank You both!!
I know, your video being over one year old, but would be nice to know, if your still having fun with the Tello? Is it still working, how are the batteries doing, did u ever buy the remote control? Thanks for an update!
Thank you for this video. You’ve helped me to decide. I’m upgrading to one of these and pick it up today, along with a spare battery and spare yellow cover. Can’t wait to try it.
I flew one of these and it had the Patten of ironman on it. It is so cute. Honest opinion is for how much it is it's a brilliant little drone and I want one and for 99 pounds it's amazing and I love how it locks in position. Stability is amzing.
We just received ours and took it outside with some pretty gusty winds and it did great holding its own. So far so good, excited to let the kids start programming the unit.
Very cool. This thing flies pretty well inside too. One trick is to make sure there is plenty of light b/c the vision positioning sensor works best if there is enough light.
If you are thinking about buying this drone , don't think any more and go buy it , it is an excellent drone , I big it up with an honest review . The tello rocks , and is so much fun and easy to fly . And the good news is ,if it does break it's cheap to replace . However tello.js crash friendly and cheap to replace parts . Great drone
the range of this drone can be extended with the xioami range extender . the altitude can be extended to 30m with the TALS app . however something to be aware of is that this drone is VERY prone to flyways particularly at the extended altitude even in a light breeze . I have had a couple of instances of fly aways nearly losing my drone
I'm not so sure it is going up when you put your hand under it due to it's vision positioning or not. Any small drone when you put your hand under it will go up because it's getting better lift due to the down force wind having something to push against. My main interest in wanting to buy one is being able to program it with Scratch. Though I haven't found any reviews yet of anyone using the Scratch programming language with it, so have no idea what all you can do with that. I'm hoping it will work to run 2 or 3 Tello's at the same time and have them perform some Hive maneuvers.
Great review! Take it the camera is in the fixed horizontal position? Shame they didn't design it to at least adjust manually to point downwards 45 / 90 degrees
The first video, from you , I've ever seen. I was looking for advice on this little guy and your vid convinced me to buy! I like your casual approach and demonstrations. I assume you have much experience in this arena so your genuine surprise and enthusiasm really helped. I like the fact you tried a few fun things. Thanks! I will recommend your reviews to friends. BTW I am going to use this to capture my tours and hikes. Thanks!
4:45 Seems you don't understand what you're talking about. Consumer grade gps devices have not a great gps precision 2-5m. If we take even 1m, how precision 1m can help to be stable? Only camera can make this to be stable.
is there a way to mess with the camera setting to where you can take better video? does it have a SD slot so i can take if off the drone or does it save the videos on your phone? does this have hand controls?
I’ve never seen vision positioning like this on a toy drone. I actually took it up about 30-feet and it was still holding its position. Pretty amazing. Looks like your recorded video doesn’t have nearly the amount of dropped frames as mine does. Glad to hear your opinion of it.
Correct. I wish it did take a card though, that would probably solve it. I'm hoping Ryze can improve the bit rate or something in a firmware update. We'll see.
I just order tello drone for training purpose because ,in the next 2 months , i will order an expensive one DJI pro 1000$,. to avoid to broke it , i decided to order a cheap one, i watched your video and i learned a lot thank you
Really nice video. I went out and got the Tello after watching your video. How do you get the battery level to show on your phone. I just get the graphic and not the number. Thanks
Yes, kind of. The FAA requires it, but last I checked the courts said they didn't have the authority to require it without a law change. Not sure if that has been over turned.
Hi, thanks a lot for your very useful video (as usual). About what you experienced, any chance to keep the video flow to use as a streaming mode for live TV broadcast on RUclips? (I mean for short flying distance, less than 15 meters or so)...
I will admit, the electronics add some nice features. I have a small parrot and it's not as advanced but it does do some of my he same features. Great review!
Thanks for a great review! Best Buy has a Boost Combo.. for $100 ($50 savings) so I’ll pull the trigger on this based on your review! It comes with 3 batteries so I think this will keep me busy for a while and a great starter before I move up to the Mavics. Thanks again!
Just got mine today guys. Great little stable drone, and the best phone operated drone I've flown-ever! Easy and precise. Thanks for a great review. Cheers 😊✈️👍
*The best thing about Tello is, that it is packed with features you could expect from $300 drones, not a $99 one. Also, take a look at my channel, I made a video about Tello too* :)
Hi RSD. I found you through suggested videos. First, your videos are great and your editing, top notch. I made a RUclips channel, so I'm doing my research. Thanks for all of your help! Please keep it up. Just subbed!
I would like your opinion if you don't mind. Which is a better option for a first drone: Tello (without remote) or Hubsan H216A X4 DESIRE PRO? The photo quality is not a game changer for me.
Where do you get a BlueTooth remote control that will interface with a drone piloting app? The ones I see on Ebay appear to interface with game systems, not cellular telephone handsets. *I need one that will properly communicate with the X-Hubsan app for Android* Thank you ahead of time! :-)
how high can this drone go in the air? and if i will be in an area without phone signal(outside the country for exp) , would i still be able to get the wifi for the drone? thanks
Please do more reviews on mi drone 4k please.... it's a very very rock solid drone in very low price range. It has a lot of potential for making cinematic footage. At the end thank you for making drone reviews... I'll wish you the best.
This quad's performance and flight characteristics strongly resembles that of Parrot's "airborne night" (Maclane) series. Similarly priced. Better app flight options with Tello.
Excellent review, thinking a lot on getting this little drone, but do I have to register for flights? Would I get in trouble if use it in a park? Thanks. PS would be my first drone toy..
Great video, i spent half the money for tello on another copter, should have just spent a little more and gone for tello, but its my first quadcopter so maybe it makes sense to practice on a cheaper drone. Great video.
I have a question min has no battery and i plugged it in but no light is flashing is it because It has no batterie or is it really not charging ? Thank you
Thank you for the review. As I was reviewing this little drone I came across the review where the reviewer made a comment that hubson h216a is a better drone than tello because it has a better camera, has a transmitter controller and has a gps. Supposedly hubson has better quality 1080p camera and the quality of the footage was better than tello on his review however on your review I don’t think tello has a bad quality of the footage. I really like what I am getting from tello in terms of these flight modes which I don’t get as much on the hubson. So to conclude I think that I would still go with tello even though it does not have a gps, it may have worse camera( I am not sure if tello has 1080p) and it does not have a controller but it has these cool features such as throw and go, 360, circle, palm landing and that’s what my niece and nephew would like I think. So far this is the best ever review for this drone❤️❤️❤️
Glad you liked it

One thing I like about the tello is that it’s very stable. I just got a Mavic mini but I like to use the tell for inside the house
The zoom I’m on the dog made me smile😊

Do you think they're will be a DJI tello 2?
@Dan Do tello edu is basically a different iteration of this same model so I don't think its tello 2...

Looks pretty good for beginners, does it have audio recording along with the video?
Fight mode?!? Does it come with sidewinder missiles?
tiny tiny ones...
Ryze, DJI and Intel could not spell “Flight” right?
Eagle 1 fox 2 fire!
Thank you for doing this review.! Will help me get started when I do drone recording on my jeep overlanding trips.
You are getting me impressed with this little drone
hello could you please give me the name of the controller and where you can buy .thank you very much. Marc Quebec Canada
We just received ours and took it outside with some pretty gusty winds and it did great holding its own. So far so good, excited to let the kids start programming the unit.

Great review! Take it the camera is in the fixed horizontal position? Shame they didn't design it to at least adjust manually to point downwards 45 / 90 degrees
Great review, thanks! Yes I do have drop frames with mine, unfortunately. Also, VPS does not work above water!
You are right about VPS not liking water.

Hey Charles! Thanks for the kind words. I look forward to seeing what you can do with the Tello!
At 2:30 you said there is an optional charging station available. Can you link to one of these? Thanks!
You can get it on Amazon. Here is the link.

Excellent video. Definitely getting one next weekend. Do you think adding a Wifi Repeater to the Tello's Wifi Signal will extend the range slightly?

Yes - the visual positioning is pretty amazing for a toy. And I really like the flight modes too. Thanks for the comment!
Try a faster SD card it might help with the drop frame rates.
It doesn't have an SD card. The images and video stream are captured in the phone app.
Correct. I wish it did take a card though, that would probably solve it. I'm hoping Ryze can improve the bit rate or something in a firmware update. We'll see.
Wow no SD card slot...omg
I just order tello drone for training purpose because ,in the next 2 months , i will order an expensive one DJI pro 1000$,. to avoid to broke it , i decided to order a cheap one, i watched your video and i learned a lot thank you
Does the camera aim slightly down? or is it more straight out in front?
It is straight
I had to get one and it is awesome...still can't believe the price!
Never leave your battery in the drone, it will drain out, and store your battery at the first low voltage warning, thanks for uploading this
@@issac3100yes, it needs power, but disconnect it when you store it (for a long time)
Fact, this is important info for tello users
Does this fly low enough to cut the grass??
can u do a TK106RHW review and the app review?
i need help with it
is it possible to use other wireless gamepad and couple it with VR goggle?
This video helped me decide to buy the Ryze Tello.. Thank u
Really nice video. I went out and got the Tello after watching your video. How do you get the battery level to show on your phone. I just get the graphic and not the number. Thanks
Is drone registration mandatory in the US now? There's talk of it here in England but not yet.
Yes - if the weight is over .55 pounds (just over half pound).
Yes, kind of. The FAA requires it, but last I checked the courts said they didn't have the authority to require it without a law change. Not sure if that has been over turned.
Close call with the camera. For a non GPS quad, it holds its position very well. Excellent review Kelly!!
Hi, thanks a lot for your very useful video (as usual).

Best review of the Tello I’ve seen, by a mile👍

Hi. How much time can you get on one full battery?
do we need special SD card or there is one imported or you can download your video with cable ?
I will admit, the electronics add some nice features. I have a small parrot and it's not as advanced but it does do some of my he same features. Great review!
parrot connectivity is better than the tello.
Really liking this done! Got it yesterday and haven't stopped since. Good thing it came with two batts.....
It is really fun to fly. Thanks for the comment.

Nice self promotion
No, you self-advertising y###
Is it Bluetooth compatible???
Cool😎
Can you mute the noise when you upload the video?
Fantastic review, covered everything! Great work guys.
I got one of them, and my only dislike is that the autoland sometimes drifts into stuff
Hi RSD. I found you through suggested videos. First, your videos are great and your editing, top notch. I made a RUclips channel, so I'm doing my research. Thanks for all of your help! Please keep it up. Just subbed!

Why do they make the print in the owners manual so small old eyes cannot read it? At least my old eyes (62) cannot read it. Had to download it.
Thanks Kelly can you tell me if you can get a controller for it and where also extra battery's. Great review as always Thanks again
Yes, you can get a Bluetooth controller. I got one and am testing now. I'll publish a video with a link to it in about a week.
Thanks have a great weekend
Hi, great review. What will happend if you are on more than 100 m. (30 feet) away from Tello?
I wish the tello was as good as the Spark at 83g, with a fly more version. No more CASA problems!
I got one for Christmas! Can't wait to try it out!💖👏🏼👍🏼
How did u bump up the reso to 1080p though?
Great review. If i want to spend a little bit more to get a better bang for my buck, which drone would you recommend getting? Thank you
DJI Spark
do i need to be at homw ith my wifi or does it put its own signal out that my phone can pick up eg. can i take it to the park or a friends house
The Tello creates it's own wifi signal so you can fly it anywhere!
Please do more reviews on mi drone 4k please.... it's a very very rock solid drone in very low price range. It has a lot of potential for making cinematic footage.
At the end thank you for making drone reviews... I'll wish you the best.
Is there a way to add audio to this drone? With like an app or the phone mic or something???
I guess it cannot flies over water with the downward sensors?

Excellent review, thinking a lot on getting this little drone, but do I have to register for flights? Would I get in trouble if use it in a park?
Thanks. PS would be my first drone toy..
It is under 250 grams, so you do not have to register it. Should be fine to fly in a park
Never had a drone ever. Do you suggest this or the spark?
what controller is good for apple iphone ?
Not sure where you are finding that charger you speak of? I could not find one?
Very informative. Thank you for being so thorough. Can’t wait to hear your reactions with the Bluetooth controller
Publishing that video tonight or tomorrow...just wrapping up!
ReadySetDrone How do you get the battery PERCENTAGE?
It will be shown in the app itself on your screen on the top middle side
My gosh! Because of you I'm buying one today😁 thanks for that great fun review as always
So does it have an auto follow setting?
Once i crashed mine and it landed upside down, and a red warning said 'Aircraft is tilt.'
Nice video, how much distance can you fly it away?
I just got one I am excited it's charging. I will be getting mavic air at Christmas time hopefully
Why do you only mow one part of your lawn ?
i big advantage is that you csn take this drn overseas and not have to register it as it is below 250g
Great video, i spent half the money for tello on another copter, should have just spent a little more and gone for tello, but its my first quadcopter so maybe it makes sense to practice on a cheaper drone. Great video.
Hi!!! Is it possible to adapt this drone for use with frsky RC?
Hi, any comments/review when flying it at the beach or mountain/ hilly areas? Wonder if the stability is good
I think it would be fine at the beach or mountains.
Hola, te consulto, Tengo un problema al cargar el drone, me aparece una luz roja y no una luz azul! Sabes qué puede ser?
I have a question min has no battery and i plugged it in but no light is flashing is it because It has no batterie or is it really not charging ?
Thank you
How high the Tello can fly?
Thank you for the review. As I was reviewing this little drone I came across the review where the reviewer made a comment that hubson h216a is a better drone than tello because it has a better camera, has a transmitter controller and has a gps. Supposedly hubson has better quality 1080p camera and the quality of the footage was better than tello on his review however on your review I don’t think tello has a bad quality of the footage. What’s your thought on that ?
I think height is one of the most important aspects of drone flying. Getting that perspective of the landscape from 100-200m above the ground, that’s what most people want from a video drone.
Maybe they should have used Bluetooth, they would have achieved slightly more range.
Well the Tello is definitely not a drone you want to use if you want to go high.

Thanks Kelly. nice summary. This looks very similar to the Parrot Mambo FPV I reviewed a couple of months ago. I was wondering if the optional remotes would talk directly with the Tello, but it seems not, as you say, so like the Parrot, this really is a fun, toy drone for kids and beginners who want some short-range flying. Thanks for the review! Cheers, Ian in London.
VERY helpful video. Cheers, mate!
But how reliable and good is the wifi? How does it work? Is it as unreliable as those wifi fpv drones?
how can we use it in outdoors where there is no wifi connection? Bluetooth will do?
The drone creates it's own wifi connection
Ready Set Drone ok thank u
So it comes without a remote u just control it with your phone ?
