    Quadcopter tech has improved hugely in recent years (I started off with the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+). The Tello is a fantastic introduction to quads and that 10-12 min flying time makes it a winner amongst this group. For only a few dollars, the Tello FPV app offers a huge amount of extra functionality, widely recommended.

    I just got mine yesterday. Turned it on it went up and hung that like it was on strings. I tested this until my battery ran out it didn’t move more than an inch or two the whole time. I did do the firmware update before I started. I got it to go about 40 to 50 yards out with my iPad air 2. Video was pretty sharp for 720 and stable going forward and backward. Minor frame skipping when turning or banking. The joy Stick controllers on my iPad or on my android phone moved to the position of my thumbs. Which makes it simple the fly. This is the perfect backyard drone for barbecues and parties. Anyone can fly it and you don’t really have to worry about it hurting anyone something goes wrong. And feels like a piece of technology not a piece of plastic junk. In the app itself there’s a link to Ryze where you can chat immediately with the person if you have any problems or questions. All in all it’s the best $100 drone I have a purchased.

    It's a good beginner drone because of the stability help that it gives, it helps a beginner to have the added time it takes to get the hang of controlling a drone instead of you having to completely control it from the get go, and have it crash every time you try to fly it ! Spend more time in the air rather then having it crash and burn every time it leaves the ground!

    As a beginner drone user the tello is amazing, easy to handle and fly plus the pre programmed controls are great, picture quality is way better outside than inside unless your house has lots of natural light, fun drone for fun flying and to learn the basics and practice with, great informative video so thank you man!

    Got one for my 7 year old son, but as 40 year old dad I have too much fun programming this drone in Python. it's a 8/10 for me (only negatives are the short battery life).
    I also found out I could connect my xbox controller to my phone (by bluetooth) and use that as a controller for the DJI Tello... felt like a big brain moment :D

    Great vid. Thanks for the effort. Very informative, comprehensive and balanced appraisal. Also, you went metric and imperial - that is rare and much appreciated for those of us that work in 10s. Seriously, so many guys go on about feet and inches (exclusively), which is cool, but you miss half your audience. Respect. Also, the pros and the cons ... I thought that was fair. And you went from 100% battery to 0% - the only vid I've found that does the spectrum. This could actually be a demo vid for how to critique any product. Glad I saw this. Thanks!

    Tello will hold its position up to 99 feet high. Photos and videos are really good. I like that it records them to my iPhone and iPad directly. It’s super easy to edit pictures and video and share them or play them on your big tv. It IS a GOOD camera drone.

My wife would say no, me I would say yes. I am sure it will appear in my drone collection very soon. But I have to keep it quiet if you know what I mean !!!

    Great video Kloo Gee... I really liked it. I´m new at this drone world (just bought my first Spark a couple of months ago and still learning how it works) and saw all your videos about it. Really like all the useful information and it make me see that fly a drone it´s a lot of fun, but there are a big responsability under this. Now I am interesting on Tello´s just because it´s is simple and not under (until now) any FAA (USA) or ANAC (Brazil) regulations, so I can carry it on with me and my family´s travels to take some interesting pictures. Besides this, my kids will have a lot of fun with this. Thanks for this review and sorry for my poor English...

  • @27461Andy
    @27461Andy 6 лет назад

    Bounce mode is when you need to avoid obstacles that are up and down at the same distance from one another, so the drone can avoid them. It would of been more suitable on a race drone, but this is not one. And one more thing, when you said the drone will not come back at you because it doesn't have GPS that is not a 100% correct answer cause it really depends on the drone's capacity to set a home point with ITS OWN sensors. And if Ryze would have thought up a solution to visually set a home point using those sensors, then the drone would not really need GPS to RTH, only the built-in sensors. Sorry if this was too hard to understand...

    • @27461Andy
      @27461Andy 6 лет назад

      @@DailyDroning Guess so. I am happy with my Phantom P1 drone which has GPS but had problems cause the surrounding area had metal in it and it struggled to get a home point. And payed 244$ for it which is nice...

    Would anyone would recommend this drone for travel? I'm planning on going to Cancun, Mexico. I don't want to carry a full size drone. I have never really owned or know how to fly drones and I figured this could be easy enough to have my kids play with it while on vacation and not have to "hover" over them as they play with it. So is it a yay or nay for vacationing with it? TIA

    After receiving my M2P yesterday and knowing my skill level and knowing what’s left of my bank account, i decided I needed a beater to practice on before getting brave with the M2P. For $100, this fits the bill perfectly. I took it to work today (large shop area) and started getting brave with the Tello and it took quite a beating. I hit the pallet racks about 15 ft up and when you hit something hard, the motors stop and it “Lands”, real hard. One of the props fell off but was OK and I just pushed it back on. I’m getting about 10 mins of hard fly time per battery. As for Joy stick controllers, if you don’t mind the extra $50, i can confidently recommend the Rotor Riot RR1800. It comes with a phone holder that will hold my iPhone 7+ or XS Max firmly with my covers on. This controller does have a wire, but it plugs directly into the lightening port and “just works” with the drone. The Tello software is assuming you’re using a Bluetooth 4.0 type controller but this wired controller has to be better than anything Bluetooth connection in my humble opinion. It was available at Best Buy for $49 and makes flying the Tello so much more fun, plus you get almost full screen real estate for the video with the virtual joysticks not showing. Another benefit to this controller over bluethooth is that it gets its power from the phone/wire, no batteries.

      They only last as long as you abuse them for. If you are familiar with these "brushed" quads, you will see none of these so called "brushed" motors last long. Even though they have no real brushes in them.

    • @williambeckett4295
      @williambeckett4295 6 лет назад

      If they go bad, they can be replaced. There are a few videos on RUclips that show you how to do so. You can also order replacement motors from DJI if I remember correctly.

    • @RTegland
      @RTegland 6 лет назад

      Actually, you can use any 8.5x20mm brushed motors. You don't need to pay the high DJI price. And you certainly don't need a youtube video to do it.

    • @RTegland
      @RTegland 6 лет назад

      Heat and stopping the props abruptly. Also if the quad falls flat on its 4 legs, it can push the armature down into the so-called brushes, and they will bind up.

    Cool toy drone! Think I will pass though. Next thing we'll see is a $99 drone with GPS.... This will make the FAA change some laws... lol

      Southern Adventures get hubsan h502c, I paid $83 for it, 12 position gps, over 200m range and decent 720 camera, about 12min battery, I have over 80 flights no problems💚🍀👍🏄🎧🚁

    I don’t like it...I think there are better toy drones out there for less the price. Surprised DJI wanted anything to do with this.....

      Kloo Gee I much prefer the Original Hubsan X4 Desire H502E 720P Camera GPS RTF RC Quadcopter Drone aT $99. Has a transmitter and flies really well. My opinion of course....

    Yeah no SD card and Brushed Motors that will only last less of a year if you fly it everyday 2 times. Don’t get connected and love it is all I say LOL.

    Don't waste your money on that toy it's a little overpriced you can get the yuneec breeze for $150 at Walmart with the Bluetooth controller that blows away the Tello... It's a full size drone with GPS, and IPS.. the camera is Light Years better than the Telllo, 1080p digital stabilization video, and it takes 4K video, 16GB of onboard storage, the pictures and video is awesome, direct download right to your phone, or micro USB to your computer, social media sharing,
    There's just no comparison..
    The yuneec breeze now it's all the way down to $150 because of all of the DJI technology and how they priced there drones..
    Yuneec Breeze right now is the best deal you can get of any drone in the market for the money and what it offers..
    ;)
