I have a Potensic Atom and have again fallen in love with it after watching this review! It is surprisingly cheaper than this Ruko. I feel like it is orders of magnitude better. Especially the hovering. I was concerned that it wasn't keeping its center well. While hovering It is slowly oscillating in a 7-8 inch diameter ball. Seeing this drone completely fail imo put things into perspective for me. For anyone wondering I paid something like 350 ish +plus minus 20 in September, so that is why I thought it would be in the same price category as this one. Anyway thanks for the video. I am new to this hobby and I am looking for tips to improve both my flying and filming! PS. I have the Potensic Atom. Potensic's naming scheme is absolutely terrible. The Atom with no added letters is their best drone, the rest has LS, LM and probably others suffixes attached, but they either have a worse camera, or no gimbal (having instead a digital gimbal) etc.
Good to know! The Potensic Atem SE was one of the drones that put us off reviewing lower end drones, as that one had connection problems, and as your mentioned, no gimbal and shaky footage. Also it wouldn't hover well at least in our first review (we did two videos since there was a firmware update). We were tempted to try the 3 axis gimbal model, but had second thoughts.
Kelly was right! No more shitty drone reviews! Just buy 2 mini 4k's. This is why they're trying to ban DJI, so the shitty companies can have a chance! $450!?!? My god! Merry Christmas Kelly and Kris! #oneofthree
Kelly's right again!? Dang it! 😅 I can't imagine having no DJI here. 😮 Thanks so much for watching and being one of the 3 viewers to stick around! 👊 Merry Christmas, Joe!
You're right, it's at least a higher end budget drone. It sure flies like a budget drone! We appreciate you being one of our 3 viewers to see that! 👊 Merry Christmas!
I always recommend the DJI Mini 4K or a Mini 3 to those looking for a budget camera drone. They’re simply superior to any other products in this price range.
This drone is by far lacking for it's price range. One would think they could store the calbration data like so many other drones so you don't have to constantly calibrate #OneOfThree Merry Chriistmas and hope to see more in the new year
Agreed. Thanks for being one of the 3! 😎 We really appreciate your support over the years. Thank you very much for watching and commenting. It means a lot to us. Merry Christmas, Trevor.
#oneofthree My original drone, a DJI Spark, went for only a little more than this one. I'd expect an awful lot more at that price point. Granted it isn't a DJI so it won't perform at that level. But it acted like drones I've spent less than half of its price. I wouldn't bother with this one.
We couldn't agree more, Mike! Well said.👍 Thanks for being one of the 3 (which turned out to be more than three this time, which was surprisedly awesome). We appreciate you watching and commenting. Best wishes for the New Year!
These cheap drones rely on camera for their positioning. This is NOT GOOD. I have a Potensic, and it does the same thing. it takes camera, distance sensors, and GPS to all work together to get positioning for this size of aircraft. DJI does it better than all the rest. Good luck getting a DJI though, as your government doesn't like them for some stupid reason.
Oh dear , again yet another not so cheap drone bites the dust, whilst I’m always wanting something to compete with DJI , this is a far cry from any DJI drone. I’ve been flying drones for over 10 yrs and started the hobby flying so called decent drones, after waisting my money, I got my first DJI drone and have never looked back I own a small fleet of them. Loads of companies have tried to compete but , to date most have failed and what’s half decent is still is no match to what DJI offers At the price point ,features offered etc. There are plenty of offers from DJI and plenty of second hand , refurbished deals to be had. Have a Great Christmas and All The Very Best for 2025 , regards
Isn’t it amazing what you can do if you reverse engineer a DJI drone? Or even better, get DJI’s assistance!? Someday, they’ll get it right! No more bad reviews!
We gotta keep it real. We don't mean to make a bad review, but we had some issues, so we showed them. Competition is good though. Hopefully, we will have some, but let it happen naturally. The fact that our country is trying to ban DJI is crazy.
I, and many other drone operators, are concerned that if DJI were banned, there won't be many good alternative options that even come close. I wouldn't be opposed to non DJI products at all if they were better. This is just sad. I've been only flying DJI drones for the past 8 years and have always been super skeptical about trying a different brand. Only recently, I decided to get a Potensic Atom drone (the newer model with a 3 axis gimbal). It works ok, but it is not quite as good as a DJI.
Not bad hopefully ruko can maybe do a firmware update to fix it. But yeah honestly i would not buy it for myself or anyone eles as a gift. Same price as the mini 3 mini 4k. Which in my opinon is a better choice. Thanks guys.
Just bought this as my 1st drone. Crashed it within the1st hour after attempting hand release (palm flat and not cradling the body) upon take off, it became unstable and sent itself in to a was VERY similarly to what you experienced. I'm doing a refresh, sending back to Amazon, and getting a dji mini 3. Kinda disappointed in myself, I'm usually really good with buy once cry once. I got got this time
We actually made a quick video going over the claims that Ruko makes, including our experience with the flight time. There are chapter markers so you can skip ahead to whichever section you want. ruclips.net/video/Kng9ICI-CGk/видео.html For us, we got around 26 minutes or so of flight time per battery.
I’ve never had good luck with non DJI products either. Most are just shitty camera drones! I’m surprised this Ruko has over 8,000 Amazon ratings and has an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars. That rating might seem really impressive, but I’m still skeptical about this. I’ll stick to my DJIs.
The problem is you people only review drones they send you for free. I can assure you my L200 Pro is really nice. Is it as good as a DJI Mini? Nope. But for $100 it's great value for money. Where as Ruko isn't even a brand. What they do is buy existing models such as SJRC, then make a deal with the manufacturer, and sell them for double the price. Same story for Holy Clone, Exo and couple other Scamazon copies. So, what you are testing here is basically a $250 drone. My advice is to either get a real budget drone under $150, or skip anything in between and go for a DJI, Fimi, and maybe Potensic Atom. Although I'm not sure the Potensic app has settings like homepoint-update. Which makes it still kinda 'toy level'. Also you fail to understand who is using a drone and when. A $50 optical flow drone can potentially be great to shoot some selfies. Don't have to wait for satellites or do compass calibration. I mean look at this F11 Pro 2. It takes minutes to get it in the air. You won't have time for that on a bike trip 20x a day. You won't bother and just move on. But drone reviewers never show how long it takes to launch it. They are more the stand in a file type and fly the drone around a bit. That's their hobby. Most of us however get a drone to film their activities. And that is when completely different aspects of a drone become important. The video quality only comes after the overall stability, reliability, and usability. If you can't fly a drone you won't have footage at all. Who cares if the video isn't perfect or the horizon tilts a bit? I don't work for National Geographic. Granted, I must say this fellow does tell a lot about the flight stability. Good job!
reviews and video editing are getting better and better!!!!!!!!!
Kelly knows the way the cheaper drones will react. LOL. Good truthful review. Merry Christmas guys. #oneofthree
Kelly's right, again! 😅 Thanks for being one of the 3! Merry Christmas, Gerry.
As one of the three people who watched to the end, excellent review Kris and Kelly! 🎅 Merry Christmas!
Thanks Marcus! Merry Christmas to you too!
4 people, add me please.
Yeah, no, I'll stick with the DJI brand for this price point. Thanks for sharing the data though Kris. Merry Christmas Y'all! #oneofthree
Merry Christmas, Brad. We remembered the hashtag on this one. LOL
Thank you for your support all these years.
Great video!
😊 Thanks, Jodi.

@SunriseWaterMedia merry christmas brother! #dji4life
Price point not good, performance inconsistent, no thanks.
#OneOfThree I just can't believe it's called a budget drone at this price point ! Just wow !!! Happy Holidays guys !
You're right, it's at least a higher end budget drone. It sure flies like a budget drone!
We appreciate you being one of our 3 viewers to see that! 👊 Merry Christmas!
Now I'm getting Ruko F11 Pro 2 feeds in my RUclips.
I'm in the market for a new drone... what are the odds that it will be this one...😂
Hey Warren. Based on our review, it seems like the best drone ever! 😉
I always recommend the DJI Mini 4K or a Mini 3 to those looking for a budget camera drone. They’re simply superior to any other products in this price range.
Agreed. We think competition is good, but we realistically aren't there yet.
Great advice! 👍
Kris, did you go to Kelly's School of Flying? #impact
He's rubbing off on me! I can't help it.😅

Our government is not logical, especially when it comes to DJI drones. 🫤
These days $40 drones already have GPS. Just like DJI. The difference is quality.
Shouldn’t you turn on the controller first and then the drone? (To prevent auto RTH)
That seems logical to us, but the instructions said to turn on the drone first, so that's why we did it.

Thanks very much for watching. Merry Christmas!

Agreed! We tried to be fair, but have to be honest as well. We really need some good competition.

Darn! Well, you're definitely going to like the stable flight from the Mini 3 pro!
fimi mini 3 far way better than this unstable flying junk
Good to know. It looks like it does 4k/60 and has a larger sensor too.
So is Ruko's claim of 70 mins flight time in fact a deception, since it looks to only take one 35 min battery at a time?
We actually made a quick video going over the claims that Ruko makes, including our experience with the flight time. There are chapter markers so you can skip ahead to whichever section you want.

This drone is junk, you just paid more money for another junk drone. Good Luck
Ruko sent this to us for free so that we could make a review.
Budget........ lol mini 2 chassis series clobers this thing. I had it for 1 day and returned it.
Yeah, it's a stretch. We were trying to give it the best chance and avoid any accusations of being DJI fan boys. Lol
