This is my favourite track on the album without a shadow of a doubt. Possibly one of my favorite songs by DM in recent years too. The video is amazing also.
Same !!!!
There is a official live Video of this song.
so good
This is one of the Songs Dave has written
Second Dave's song from Delta Machine
Should Be Higher is one of the songs that represents the most dM sound. Dark, deep, melodious and a touch of originality in Dave's voice besides the fact he wrote the lyrics.
This song is even better live Seph!
You love Dave's vocals here, wait till U get to Momento Mori.
This is a return to form on Delta Machine and I agree with you Seph, this one has a genuinely hooky tune and a depth of feeling that I've largely missed earlier in the album aside from the lovely Welcome to My World, Angel, Heaven and Broken. So glad you've got to the suite of little gems at the end. And you haven't heard the last of great DM. Spirit isn't it, but Memento Mori IS.It's superb with a capital S.
Should Be Higher wurde als Single veröffentlicht und es gibt dazu ein Musikvideo - Live im Berliner Olympiastadion - im Regen... es ist toll 😊
Glad you liked it Dim :D
I did not know Dave could sing like this, first time I heard it. A bit like Simon Le Bon actually, on the beautiful high notes.
Definitely the best song on this album.
The next one(Alone) I also think will blow your mind. You´ll never hear Dave and Martin in such amazing harmony!
The last four songs on this album form a strong set. Next one is „Alone“, which is a particular fan favourite on Delta Machine. Towards the end, the album gears up and recaptures more of the original DM spirit.
Their live from Berlin concert from 2013 has a great live version of this song
The end of that song live is epic
Great reaction seph the live in Berlin has awesome visuals. Should have done a double reaction seph 😅
I love this song too, first time I’ve heard it, I’m new to DM like you, I went to see them live in Manchester in January they were amazing 😍
This song indeed is amazing live! You’re wish came true. The visuals in concert were explosive and Dave and Martin do their great harmony that they’re known for.
Top track. Best one on the album. I think the song refers to addiction to drugs and alcohol
i don‘t know why but this was one of the first DM songs that i listened to. like straight after enjoy the silence and strangelove for example. and i love it since then 😊 so happy that you enjoyed it 🤩
the b sides on delta machine are also very good. hope you check them out after you‘re through with all the albums 😊
Live version is awesome
This song is great. Next song is my favorite on this album.
Love this one!❤
This is my first time hearing this song and I too was surprised that it wasn't another throwaway track. There are a number of surprises here. When Dave sings that high note during the chorus passage, "Love is all I want," to my ears it almost sounds like there's some autotune effect going on. It's easily the highest note I've heard him attempt to sing. It's a really bold and brave choice. And that vocal melody and modulation in the chorus sounds atypical and unexpected for Depeche Mode. Even the lyrics feel a touch different. After reading the comments, the answer was revealed. Dave wrote this with Kurt Uenala. It would be interesting to know what that songwriting process was like for this one.
Im glad that it wasn't just me who was shocked by this one!! ❤️
My favorite song on this album.
Enjoy ihis piece of ART
Watch the live in Barcelona version it'll blow yer socks off
Very powerful song. One of my faves since alan left
By far, the best track on "Delta Machine"
NOTE @Seph: The official video is the live version.
This song is great. I love it. Kudos to Dave and his cowriter Kurt Uenala.
Yes. My favourite song from Delta Machine
THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION !
what a fantastic song again... They are the only ones who provoke such emotions in my head. They have accompanied my life since my adolescence... Thank you DM for everything you have given me and everything you still bring me today.
Great song! Wait for Memento Mori!!!😎
Agreeing with you Seph! Love This Song! Favorite from the album!! This does actually have an official live video my friend!! YOU... NEED... TO.... SEE.... THIS..... !!! it's actually even better live!!!! We need some live DM reactions buddy. Keep on truckin' Cheers! 😁🥰
Ohh i absolutely will 😍
I've been waiting for this one. This is my 2nd favorite on Delta, Alone being #1. This and Come Back are easily Dave's best songs. The lyrics are great, the music, it all came together. Love that opening sound, sort of fading in and out, so cool. The vocals are a triumph. That falsetto LOVE is simply astonishing. I'm a singer myself and I can attest that is extremely difficult. This and the next two songs keep the album from being dead last in my ranking. (That's the next one.) Be fair, it gets harder as you get older. Banger indeed. This is Dave's Masterpiece. Oh yeah, look up the band on David Letterman's show, they did an entire live set including this.
Don t give up, with depeche mode you can" Never let rhem down,,,,
Cool one. The best of the album. He sings like Bono in that one. Sure U2 would like to compose that one
Dave wrote this one! It's great!. Delta Machine is my least favourite album by them, but it still has some awesome songs.
The live version is better than the album version.
This is one of the best songs they've had since Violator. I'm glad you liked it.
La versión en vivo es una jodida joya
Great Track, great reaction.
Banger, Banger, Banger???
Banger, Banger, Banger!!!
Don't forget the b sides, as always 😒🤣, an anticipated reminder.
I dont have very good opinions about Delta Machine or the next album Spirit. But this song is really good. However, their latest album Memento Mori is going to be a genuine shock. I know you are going to genuinely love it. Just stick with it until u get there and you will be rewarded.
One of the best in the Post-Wilder-Area
DM were highly influenced by producer David Hiller's recent unique experimentations with minimalist electronic sounds and wanted to explore that further with this album. Delta Machine was really meant as a experimental album which is why you are thrown by the instrumentation on the songs in this album, particularly My Little Universe.
Of course, they did sprinkle in a few more classic DM sounding songs like this one. And if you thought you were done with the great DM songs, just wait until you get to Soothe My Soul.
Definitely a highlight from the album. Sonically it is very cool. Live, Dave killed the vocals.
Live in Berlin
Most depeche covers never live up to the original. But SilverStones cover is magnificent. How about reviewing depeche mode covers after memento Mori, as a lot of us will miss your fantastic reviews of this great band.
I do plan on reviewing/reacting to all their interview's, remixes, covers, extended, live performances, alternative versions, impersonators, outtakes and so on :D
This song is pure gold! The first time I remember hearing was with Letterman live, and the album wasn't released by then, and I need it to know the name of the song so badly.
A shame that the album doesn't reach the level of this song. And don't worry, the live version is a masterpiece.
You should've listened to live version... For me, the best live video the've ever done... And thanks to that "Should be higher" is one of my most beloved songs by DM... ❤❤❤
Hey seth! They do a oficial live vídeo to that song!
The live version is pretty cool, any resemblance to the song Lie to me on the lyrics….?
Before Memento Mori this was the best Dave song!
Don't forget "Cover Me "
Suffer Well is his best
Thought you’ve got to the end of Basildon guys? No, it’s just a “beach episode” of DM))
Second Dave's song on the album
Pls, react to the deluxe songs ("Long Time Lie", "Happens All the Time", and "All That's Mine") - I only don't like "Always", but that's just me
You can listen to the live version right now Seph, this single was released in video using the Live version:

If you love these kind of Dave’s vocals - Memento Mori will not fail to amaze you. Also, the sound becomes way clearer as it is here in this song. Me personally, I also agree with you that they put too many annoying backing sounds in the songs of this album. Unfortunately. Because lyrically and vocally - and sometimes even melodically- the tunes are good, but they got distorted and this disturbes the listening experience imo. It took me 11 years to appreciate this album and I still can’t get along with it fully. But that’s the way it is. Don’t give up on Depeche Mode. Memento Mori is gorgeous and so is (partly) spirit
Please react to the live video 😊
The fact is Delta Machine is quite… half good ;) I would have preferred an E.P.
I would have kept Welcome to my World, Broken and the 4 last songs Should be higher, Alone, South my soul and Goodbye. Maybe Heaven but not sure
You will love South my soul another singles from Delta Machine. Should be higher is a single too ! There are 4 bonus songs on a special edition who are quite good maybe better than some of the official tracklist… maybe they should have switched and put these extra tracks instead of others… That’s their choices…
Are you going to watch the other lives after devotional tour?
If you combine half Delta Machine and half Spirit.... A strong album:
Going Backwards
Heaven
So Much Love
No More (this is the last time)
Cover Me
The child inside
Angel
Should be higher
Alone
Broken
Single 1: So Much Love
Single 2: Heaven
Single 3: Should be higher
Even in this way, Memento Mori is still better
Yes, only this song from entire album has decent production quality.
For me, Delta Machine is my least liked DM album from alltime (until i've heard the demos that sound in almost another direction), That being said, for me, Dave saved this album with Should Be Higher and Broken (pitty they and their production team didn't go any further with the direction "Secrets" was going), so for me the credit this time (and maaaaaaybe the next one) goes all to Dave (Being fair to Martin, "Alone" it's pure DM by numbers and "Slow" being a SOFAD era track too)
Very good song from rather weak album :)
La version en vivo (live) es mejor aqui la tienes ruclips.net/video/I_O37cE1j64/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/J6Ultrw6nN8/видео.html
potrebbe essere anche carina, ma non sembra una canzone dei dm, per questo non mi piace.
I'm against the crowd on this one, I do not find this song all that special or great, in fact I do not like Dave's voice in it and i hear this lisp/slurring of words he does now when i see certain live videos , which I've attributed to age.
DEPECHE MODE SO CRUEL
