I was afraid I'd have to call a plumber for my mid-century Symmons shower valve...until this video. Thank you so much, Ken! Absolutely saved my bacon with this most excellent walkthrough and tutorial!!
Thanks, very clear video. Do you know what causes it to go bad? If it is mineral (calcium) buildup, you might be able to free it up by soaking ovenight in vinegar, or something like lime-a-way or CLR.
Thank you for the video, however I did everything replace it with new and it didn't fix the problem I'm wondering what the other problem could be I only have a boiler not a water and all the other things turned to hot with no problem it's just the shower
Thank you for your reply I just took a couple times of turning it on and off and now it works so good finally hot showers and it definitely did the trick! Easy and cheap to yes the part was 52 dollars like you said. And the trick with using the shower nozzle to unscrew the valve was key for me because when I was unscrewing with the rent it was really tight and I thought I was going to break it and then I turn it back to the right a little bit and used the handle to finish unscrewing and it came off with no problem if you didn't show that that would have been a nightmare for me..thank you!
I did replace the valve. No movement in the old one. put it back together. Still very little hot water. Do I need to replace the hot and cold seats as well ?
Just did mine with genuine Symmons parts, and hot water only comes out warm.. reinstalled the old valve and same thing.. Got any ideas on what could be wrong? I adjusted the hot water screw stop all the way out and no change after I reinstalled the new valve again.
@@Backyardprojectguy I took out the Amazon parts I'd just installed and replaced them with genuine Symmons parts and the problem was resolved. turns out the Amazon part has had some bad reviews for the same issue. Thank you!
