You should run the tape counter clockwise so the threads stretch the tape out smoothly rather than bunching it up.

I think you wrapped the Teflon tape in the wrong direction.

You Are Installing The Tape The Wrong Way. It Goes Clockwize With The End Of The Threads Facing You. This Is A Right Hand Thread. On The Plumbing Test You Would FAIL The Test.
